Guys, I was thinking about purchasing WWE13, and the WWE Universe sounds really interesting. I liked how in the old WWE/WWF games a person could create a wrestler, go into story mode and have the story play out for you, without having to create anything. I just wanted to know if the same thing is available in WWE 13. If I create someone, can I just wrestle and have story lines automatically created for me? Or do I have to be the one to create story lines in order for things to happen? Not just "Player A challenges Player B for a title", but really in depth storylines.

150+ views, and no one can say a yes or a no if the game plays like older WWE/WWF story modes with it's own creative story lines or not without having to personally interject in things? Any answer would be somewhat helpful. -

I appreciate your response bro. I ask because this is WWE Universe 3.0, so I was thinking anyone who played the other versions might know. I like taking my CAW and going throughout the mode and not knowing what's in store for me. The one thing I would change is delete Smackdown and put WCW Nitro on Thursdays and ECW on Fridays.Comment

There's just no way to be sure yet, because we have to see the 3.0 improvements for ourselves.
Based off the first two years of Universe, I'd say you won't find what you're looking for. Universe is not a story mode. It's a loose collection of shows meant to emulate WWE in your game. You will see "feuds", in that wrestlers will earn title shots (through #1 Contender matches), and fight each other several times.
But for an in-depth, engrossing story-driven mode? No, that's just not what it is. It's been very much a mode that you need to rely on your imagination to fill out the back story.Comment

Gotcha, thanks for your help. So in conclusion, with the understanding that we don't know what 3.0 has in store for us, hypothetically if I take my low rated CAW, the hope is that there might be at least a monthly feud that is created for my CAW while I wait for a King of the Ring, Royal Rumble, Money In the Bank opportunity to get shot at a major title. As champion, I would think story lines are somewhat created, and not just generic.
I'm not thinking that there would a super storylines (WCW Invasion, stable taking over), but a month to month basis of feuds with the exclusions of pay-per-views that can garner title shots should hopefully be there for a person who doesn't want to build the story, but live the story without knowing the next step.Last edited by Showstoppa81883; 10-11-2012, 10:52 AM.Comment

Showstoppa, mind answering a couple questions?
1. Have you watched any videos of Universe mode, or have any experience with it in SDvsRaw 2011 or WWE '12? Seems like you haven't played a WWE game in a while, just trying to gauge how familiar you are with recent games in the series.
2. Which game's story modes have you enjoyed in the past?
Reason being that Universe isn't much like story modes of the past. In Universe you never play as any one character, you play the shows. It's like a GM mode in some aspects, but you can jump in and play any match at any time. It's built (especially in '13) to be a customized world, but you can always let the CPU set everything and just play it as-is.
Universe 3.0 certainly looks like a big jump in terms of storylines and interactivity, but that remains to be seen obviously. Just based off the first two attempts at Universe, I don't know that it has the type of stories or design (taking a CAW through the ranks) that you necessarily would be looking for.Comment

Hey Smash, it has been a while since I've played a WWE game in terms of story mode. I played exhibitions here and there over at a friend's house every once in a while. I used to play all the old WWF games like No Mercy and Wrestlemania 2000. I liked those stories a lot. I used to play the Smackdown games up until a couple of years back, and there were good stories there too. I noticed that within the last couple of years, the story modes were mostly a Road To Wrestlemania with official WWE wrestlers and the occasional CAW but that story was limited. I saw what they did with the "revival of WCW" storyline. I do appreciate the fact that you can change and effect everything within your WWE universe, but I want to be surprised by what I see. I'm not thinking of something super-detailed like "rookie CAW makes his debut" "rookie CAW valiantly faces established top heel". I'm thinking mini "feud with mid-carder A" for a month" with some reason for feuding aside from just being thrown together for no reason at all.Comment

That's pretty much what Universe has been so far, to be honest. As an example, things kind of flow like this:
- Mr. CAW is scheduled for a match with The Miz
- During Mr. CAW's entrance, a cutscene triggers of him being attacked by Jack Swagger.
- Next week, Mr. CAW is scheduled for another match
- Prior to match, cutscene of Swagger in front row with a ticket/coming out for commentary/something similar
- Swagger attacks you after your match
- Following week, Mr. CAW takes on Swagger.
Through that, you may get involved in a tag match (depending on Swagger's allies) or a series of matches with Swagger...but there really isn't any resolution to many of these "feuds". They just kind of end. Hopefully they've improved the logic for these types of things for '13.Comment

See that's not so bad, at least there's a point for what's happening. Without me having to control something, Swagger attacked me....there might be a tag match thrown in there, Swagger distracting, another attack, and then theres a payoff, or even a series of matches with Swagger which does happen in the WWE. But at least theres a reason for it. Hopefully those reasons change from feud to feud. But that's not a bad description from what you gave. Apr is Swagger, May is Ziggler, Jun is where I would bring the King of the Ring back so hopefully with me adding the ppv there, it would change some sort of dynamic. Just want to add to this that let's saw swagger attacked Mr. Caw 1 week before his match and then 2 matches later Swagger had a match of his own on the same card, MR. Caw can also interfere in the match potentially costing swagger the match making himself an enemy of swagger and an ally to swaggers opponent. I know you don't want to do anything and have story's happen but you can enhance the feud a little if you want.Comment

Just to let you know. You can't use King of the Ring in Universe mode this yr. Cory confirmed it. You can only play King of the Ring in exhibition mode.
