Will me editing matches not bring on cutscenes?

Pretty sure if you change anything about the match (wrestlers, even their attire, or match type), it will void the storyline, unfortunately. I wish that weren't the case. A bummer for sure.

I've come to the above conclusion after reading everything on here, threads from GameFaqs, Neoseeker, THQ's WWE '13 forum and IGN's.

You can 'tell' if the match has feud/storyline implications if, after you click A/X to launch, you click 'Match Creator' and you get a warning in regards to changing anything and messing up the storyline.

I guess for the ones you don't get the warning message for, you can edit away to your heart's content.

you still can get cutscenes if you edit a match. if you edit matches that says "today's Highlight match", you will cancel an ongoing storyline

Do you guys play the matches or just watch, me personally i'm not into just watching the match.

in 12 i watched every match. lol

i think im gonna do the same this year...

I usually watch. Unfortunately, it seems the attributes don't matter too much in CPU vs CPU matches. I have a 1 overall vs a 96 overall...match has been going on for 10+ mins. I see no difference in abilities either. Very disappointing.

SAMCKDOWN! Week 1:

Match 1: X-Pac v Christian
In what became the first match to be brought up for Match of the Year, these 2 Superstars went back and forth at a pace that few can keep, in the end Christian rolled up Pac whi at the count of 2 rolled Christian who at 2 kicked out reversed Pac into his finsher went for the pin only to be rolled by Pac who gets another 2 count gets up and hits Christian with an Enzugiri, goes for the pin 1...2... Christian rolls Pac up 1...2...3... Christian with a huge win in a 5* match, defianetly gonna find ways to make this into a great weekly match

Match 2: New Age Outlaws v The Acolytes
Elimination Tag match in the Tag tournament went back and forth with a great push by both teams. Faarooq eliminates Road Dogg leaving Billy Gunn to fend for himself which lead to an easy win for The Acolytes

Match 3: Kelly Kelly v Alicia Fox
Alicia Fox the first Smackdown! Diva to move on in the Tournament joining Raws Eve

Match 4: Ken Shamrock v Chris Jericho Submission Match
Another great match that saw these 2 Submission experts battle it out for 25 min that ended with Shamrock Tapping to the Walls of Jericho. At the end Shamrock Applauded and raised Jerichos arm... And in the Universe News it Said Fan Favorite Ken Shamrock has embraced the WWE Fans so that was cool

Main Event: Mark Henry v Paul Wight
2 Monsters in the steel cage, back and forth power moves numerous sscape attempts saw Mark Henry kicking Wight off the cage and climbing out to victory

Jericho and Punk are feuding in my Universe. Jericho picks up the win after hitting 2 codebreakers and after the match a cutscene is shown of Punk holding his knee. Jericho goes up to him to see how he's doing and Punk low blows him!! Punk begins to do jumping jacks as Y2J rolls around in agony and walks up the ramp with a smile on his face. LOLOLOLOL!!!!!

RAW Week 2:

Match 1: Zack Ryder v David Otunga W/ Eve
Eve escorts who new found interest, the two hooked up adter Otungas win last week. Zack Ryder stood no chance as Otunga powered his way to an under a minute victory, with a new look and Eve, Otunga looks like hes well on his way to being the next United States Champion & with Eve still in the Divas Tournament we could have those 2 jold the US & Divas Championships

Match 2: Kharma v Nikki Bella
Nikki joins her sister out of the tournament as Kharma moves on with a dominant win

Match 3: Road Warriors v The Nation-- Booker T & Mark Henry
The Road Warriors showed exaclty why they are legends moving clocer to the Tag Titles

Match 4: Alberto Del Rio v Kane
Kane continues his path of destruction. Last week saw a Dominant performance making Dude Love Tap Out, this week pretty much the same, Kane threw Del Rio outside and hit the OMG Moment on the announcers table with a huge Choke Slam. Kane wins by Count Out, and at the start if the match Rey Mysterio ran in and low blowed Kane I dont know whats going on there

Main Event: Dolph Ziggler v R-Truth Tables
As their fued continues so does the hate. A back and forth match, with a surprise ending. R-Truth went up top, Ziggler with a quick punch dazing Truth, climbs the Turnbuckle and performs a suplex onto the waiting table, as Ziggler stands over a knocked out R-Truth, the ring announcer announces your winner... R-TRUTH!!! I guess even though he got suplex through the table his body went over the table and Zigglers went through the table, very surprising haha I cant wait to see what happens next week as Ziggler should be fumming

SMACKDOWN! Week 2:

Match 1: Brock Lesnar v Cactus Jack
A short lived match that ended in a Draw thanks to interference from Ken Shamrock attacking Lesnar

Match 2: Stephanie McMahon v Lita
Lita grabs the win and moves on in the tournament

Match 3: The Acolytes v Edge & Christian
Edge & Christian elimante The Acolytes from the tournament with a huge win

Match 4: Wadd Barrett v The Rock
The Rock wins in dominant Rock fashion, at the end of the match he extends his hand to Barrett only to have it slapped away

Main Event: Daniel Bryan v Randy Orton v Chris Jericho #1 Contenders
A good match between 3 good Superstars that saw Randy Orton being named the #1 Contender for Sheamus's World Title

Quick question, how do you guys have your universes set up? Do you combine the shows into one? Like justing having the WWE championship as the main belt and IC belt the secondary for both shows? Or do you guys keep separate belts for separate shows and rosters? If you keep it as one, how does it work out for you? Does it keep a good mix of wrestlers from both shows? Because obviously you can't just put everyone on one show roster, can you?

I would do regular shows on normal, but do PPV matches on epic.

Unless you have like a last man standing match on RAW between like John Cena and Lesnar. Then do Epic :P

DiBiase vs Dibiase for the Million Dollar Belt...son has it to start with, found a nice CAW on PS3 for Daddy Dibiase...the belt should be in the rightful DiBiase's hands...

I can't take it from sonny boy...I even lost a special referee match.

This thread's very helpful, thanks. It's disappointing that the universe isn't really fully controlled by the user.

Two things:
1) I don't want to play Zack Ryder vs Santino Marella every week or John Cena vs Primo in the main event lol...
2) I especially don't want to watch each match that I don't play.

If I understand correctly, the census is that you should play Universe without any match or rivalry edits to get the best out of the storylines?

Pretty Much.... although;

1) The game doesn't have any reoccurring matches every week. You may see the same draft matches on Smackdown that were on Raw though
2) If you see that it's usually a storyline.... WWE 13 is pretty good at not having low card superstars in the top 2 matches

So I guess I'm going to start the universe and aside from a few face/heel changes I'm playing this as is. Let's see how it goes. I'm hoping to be impressed and not have Lita attack the guys in the main event like that other guy said lol.

Last thing, so simulate or no simulate? I hate watching matches but if simulating matches voids stories then I guess I'd try to watch.

You can set it to quick to make the matches go quicker.... not sure if that has any effect on it

So just a general question, do most people do CPU v. CPU, pick a wrestler to play as when they want to play the match? As for me, I normally play as the weaker wrestler or the wrestler I want to build up for a title shot. For example, right now I'm playing as Randy Orton as he tries to win the world heavyweight title and also Justin Gabriel. I'll also try to pick an interesting matchup that's not between those two guys just for fun. So far it's been really rewarding as Randy Orton got straight up dominated by Sheamus in his first match, and then in an "I quit" match narrowly lost.

I'm really finding it challenging on hard, first wrestling game for me in a while.
