Triple Threat
Brie Bella v. Trish Stratus v. AJ ©

WrestleMania XXXVIII kicked off with a stellar all-female contest for the Diva’s Championship. Defending champion AJ Lee squared off with Brie Bella and Trish Stratus in an even-handed bout. The contest lasted about ten minutes before Brie planted her version of the x-factor on the champion and scooped up the pin while Trish was recovering. Winner, and new WWE Diva’s Champion, Brie Bella!

Scott “Razor Ramon” Hall v. Kevin Nash

In the epic conclusion to their falling out after the dissolution of the new World order, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall (sporting throwback Razor Ramon threads) took at it in a singles contest. After a lot of back and forth, Nash planted a big boot and a near-fall. Hall battled back and, somehow, managed to lift the seven-footer into the air for the Razor’s Edge. Nash was saved by the ropes and the fight continued. Much to Hall’s credit, he survived a lot of brutality, but he could not overcome a jackknife
that ended the match. Winner, by pinfall, Kevin Nash. Nash proceeded to brutal Razor after the match with a steel chair.

Goldberg v. Booker T ©

We can add another epic encounter between these two legends of WCW. Booker T, defending US Champion, met his match at the hands of Goldberg on the biggest stage of them all. He put up a valiant effort until the match spilled outside where Goldberg took advantage of his surroundings and effectively ended the match when he Jackhammered Booker through the announcer’s table.* He resuscitated the champion long enough to roll him into the ring and pin him to begin a second reign as United States Champion. Clearly, Goldberg’s eyes are set on a bigger prize… the World Heavyweight Championship?
*= This was a computer simulated match and that actually happened. I was astonished.

Randy Orton v. Edge
Randy Orton and Edge battled for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship next month. Randy Orton ended up being DQ’d after he caved Edge’s head in with a chair.
Winner, by disqualification, Edge. Because of the way this match finished, there may be some ambiguity as to who is the rightful challenger for the WHC.
Tag-Team Championship
No DQ
New Age Outlaws v. Hardy Boyz ©

A solid match. The Hardyz eeked out a win after Jeff planted a Swanton on Billy Gunn.
Winner, by pinfall, Hardy Boyz. Title retained.
Last Man Standing
Bret Hart v. Triple H

These two have had an ongoing feud while so HHH accepted The Hitman’s challenge at Wrestlemania with a stipulation: Last Man Standing. Triple H won after Pedigree’ing the Hit Man on the entrance ramp.
Winner, by KO, Triple H.
Mixed Tag-Team Match
The Big Show and Kharma v. Christian and Kelly Kelly
This was a filler match to give a break from all the title matches on the card. I wanted something goofy.
Winners, by pinfall, the blond duo of Christian and Kelly Kelly.

The Miz v. Chris Jericho ©

In an outstanding rematch from their instant-classic at Elimination Chamber a month prior, The Miz sought to regain his lost gold from Y2J Chris Jericho in a hellacious ladder match sequel. This was no different than the first match with a lot of daring, high-risk acts. In the end, Y2J prevailed again after a Codebreaker that laid out the challenger.
Winner, Chris Jericho. Title retained.
Singles
CM Punk v. Brock Lesnar
A grudge between these superstars has led them to the biggest stage to air their disagreement. Lesnar won in a close one after two F5s.
Winner, by pinfall, Brock Lesnar.
World Heavyweight Championship
Hell in a Cell
Kane v. The Undertaker ©

In the epic conclusion to the sibling rivalry, the brothers battled on the biggest stage there is in one of the most dangerous matches there is for the Smackdown! brand’s biggest prize: the World Heavyweight Championship. The stakes couldn’t be higher for the Dead Man: both his title and his unparalleled 19-0 streak were on the line. This was an epic match with a lot of back and forth. The Undertaker thought he had it won after giving the Last Ride to Kane off the cell through the announcer’s table. He finished the match by Tombstoning his brother through the cell and pinning him. The streak and the reign as World Heavyweight Champion remain intact. 20-0.
Winner, by pinfall, The Undertaker. Title retained.

Shawn Michaels v. The Rock ©
The greatest match that has never happened… has finally happened. And it didn’t disappoint.
In a twenty-four minute even-handed match marked by a high of number reversals and some tricky combinations of moves, the Showstoppa and the People’s Champion put on quite a show. HBK nearly scored an early victory with a small package pin, but The Rock reversed into one of his own. The fight spilled to the outside of the ring, and Shawn utilized the barricade to his advantage, repeatedly slamming the champ’s head and body into it. At one point, the challenger hurdled his body into The Rock and jarred him off the apron and head-first into the announcer’s table. While the action was even and, at times, high-risk, everyone knows that each match must have a winner and a loser. Perhaps it was this that makes this match’s finale so bittersweet: I didn’t want it to end. A showdown between the two greatest men in the history of their sport took place, and only one could emerge victorious. The jury will forever be out (or, at least, until these two can get back in the ring again) on the ending, but the circumstances are fairly straightforward. Shawn landed a moonsault that ended up taking a lot out of both men. Michaels stirred to his feet first, and began to tune up the band… only it didn’t go as planned. The Rock ducked Michaels’ kick and planted him with a snap DDT. He sized up Michaels as only The Rock can and, when HBK returned to his feet, planted him with the Rock Bottom for the 1-2-3. Mr. Wrestlemania lost at his namesake event to the People’s Champion… but something tells me this won’t be the last time these two meet.
Winner, by pinfall, The Rock. Title retained.

The road ahead… the brand split is officially over. All superstars may appear on either show and Smackdown and Raw will no longer compete against one another. The hierarchy of titles, in order of prestige, is as follows:
1. WWE Championship: The Rock
2. World Heavyweight Championship: The Undertaker
3. Intercontinental Championship: Chris Jericho
4. United States Championship: Goldberg
5. Diva’s Championship: Brie Bella
6. Tag-Team Championship: Hardy Boyz
There is a distinct possibility that an additional single’s title, likely either the Cruiserweight Championship or the Hardcore Championship, will be introduced. It’s a large number of superstars competing for a small amount of belts so I would like to bring in at least one more individual’s title to the mix for competition’s sake. I was never a big fan of the European Championship, but it might be the one that makes the comeback. We shall see. In the mean time, the championship picture looks like this:
