The only reason they're losing money is because they offered the PPVs with it. All the content is stuff they already own. The cost of digitizing and the servers isn't substantial on a project like this. But they are losing revenue from every viewer that would normally buy Wrestlemania alone, as the normal purchase cost of that exceeds six months of the network. People that would spend $500 a year on PPV now get by with $120. They have to raise the price of the Network.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I would have cancelled weeks ago if not for SummerSlam. Whether I renew in October is up in the air at this point.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I'm surprised there is so much discussion about whether or not to renew. Do most people mull over $10/month purchases this much or is this specific to disgust with WWE?I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

I think the debate has to center around live feed issues, most people say the live ppv feeds cut offComment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Stream quality while being poor at times is not a huge factor. Though, I could always download a show the following day for free in HD with no audio or video issues.Last edited by areobee401; 07-25-2014, 03:03 PM.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
That's their biggest selling point though, the masses of people are not interested in past content, if you have seen their top 10 viewed shows week by week it's consistently all current events or events from 2014. So then it's like why even have the Network if it's not making them any $? The Network will not survive without including PPVs.Comment

On the flip side, they can only keep the PPVs on if they up the price, at least to $14.99. The WWE simply overestimated its paying fanbase at that price point.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
The network could survive at $7.99 with no ppv's. Like I said, the actual cost of the network isn't that high. It's the lost revenue from PPV that is causing it to "lose money". Would they lose subscribers? You betcha. But they wouldn't be losing money.

I think once they get it going worldwide they'll have enough subscribers to make it at 9.99.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Honestly, it's not terribly off. A million subscribers was pretty optimistic. The money problems didn't come until Smackdown and Raw failed to get the revenue that they thought they would.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I switched to auto renew today. Six more months of $9.99 goodness.
