That's the other thing. There's only so much time in the day.

I still don't see how with all the useless networks there are on basic cable, WWE couldn't get the cable providers to carry the network. Did Vince ever explain that one?

Watching the RAW first ever draft episode from 2002...it's amazing how much more enjoyable it is than today's product.

All day? Nah. But I don't have Netflix to watch movies all day either.

He has been promising fans and investors a WWE Network since 2011, and in that time the vision for it has changed dramatically. It was first conceived as WWE’s version of the MLB or NFL Network. In theory a channel devoted to wrestling makes even more sense than a professional sports league, since, unlike baseball or football, WWE doesn’t have an off-season. (It puts on more than 300 live shows, 52 weeks a year.) But McMahon claims that model was only going to generate an anemic 20 cents per month per subscriber, roughly on par with third-tier networks like MSNBC and Bravo, $0.21 and $0.24 a month, respectively (almighty ESPN commands an astronomical $5.54 a month). So he walked away.

The fact that more people aren't signing up for this is mind-blowing to me. Even if you have problems with the current product (and really, no one likes everything), between whatever of the current stuff you do like, NXT every week, live PPVs, and the archive, it's easy to find $10 worth of enjoyment every month.

I'll never be in a position to see the data, but I'd be interested in why people aren't signing up. Is it the price? Confusion about the over-the-top delivery? Waiting for more specific archive footage to be uploaded?
Everyone has different reasons. For me, I don't subscribe because I don't want to support them as long as 75% of the PPV's are absolutely terrible. The ones I actually want to see I can just go over to a friends house and watch. This is coming from a guy whos about as big of a pro wrestling fan as you can find, and I know I'm not the only one who isn't subscribed for this reason.

You hit some of their major issues though. A lot of people don't understand that its a digital network that you need a roku, gaming console, etc to watch. Those people are so tech stupid that they'd rather pay for multiple full price PPV's a year than go to the store and hook a roku up.

Another issue is they market the product so heavily to children, and do everything they can to turn off adults, so kids have to go to their parents and ask for the network, which most parents probably just laugh off.

There are other factors as well, like password sharing(happens with netflix too).

The biggest mistake they made was pricing the network at $10(I can't believe they actually thought that price point would attract a "mainstream" audience). All the subscribers they have now(the hardcore) would have still subscribed at $15, and then the network would be viewed as a huge success.

Maybe I'm alone, but I don't see them hitting a million subscribers anytime soon.

I'm in the same boat, I have absolutely no complaints about the network and for $10 per month I'd never consider cancelling no matter how bad I thought the current product was.

How is Youtube side skirting them when WWE still has its own Youtube page which it updates frequently with clips from its shows every week? If anything thats just WWE giving people like me even less incentive to get the network. It's not a matter of not being loyal or side skirting things, its about value. The value of the network is hurt significantly when I can pretty much Google any moment, any clip, from recent (meaning AE on) WWE and find it at my fingertips.

The network itself is pretty nice, the docs and such they produce are top notch, but the value of the network is hurt by being able to find most of the material for free. Don't see how it's side skirting TBH I thought they would put tighter clamps on the free stuff when the network hit but they haven't.

Good point. I know I could find a lot of it. I know a website where I can watch WWE PPVs about an hour or so after they start. But I'll still pay for the Network.

If it wasn't for internet bandwidth limits in Canada(majority of the services have limits), I'd have no problem signing up for the Network either once it is available in Canada. I might still sign up too just to see what it's like on my bandwidth usage(but I can just tell,3 hour PPV in HD will probably eat up like 20% of my monthly limit)

As for what people were saying regarding it being a TV channel, I think that was probably what WWE tried to do in 2012(when they first advertised it) but realized they couldn't get enough deals so they had to change it up. Would've been nice if WWE got 2 separate channels though(as a package deal). A regular WWE Network channel(where it airs wrestling stuff 24/7 just like the WWE Network currently does) along with a WWE Network on Demand channel where it has all the videos available like the Network does as well.

People would probably be more interested in it if it were on TV instead of internet cause they know TV is reliable while internet can have problems due to too many people on at the same time, your connection not being good, your computer sucks and abunch of other variables.

I don't see having the Network available via live streaming and VOD - similar to Netflix - a bad idea at all. I just don't think WWE could've lined up enough quality advertisers to really make a difference on cable/dish, and that's likely why they never went that route as the offers to do the Network that way weren't high enough.

The VOD content for me is outstanding. I watch something almost every night (helps me fall asleep as strange as that sounds).

WWE needs more NEW content, though. I really don't get why the weekly Triple H sit-down interviews, or the Daniel Bryan apprehending a burglar press conference are not being shown on the Network. It's that kind of content that will help grow the Network audience.

I could live without ever watching a ****ty stream of anything ever again, and that includes pay-per-views AND classic shows, episodes, etc.

WWE Network for me. Then. Now. Forever. Well, for as long as it lasts.

I don't even watch it that much. I haven't watched an old PPV in full, I don't think I've watched any of the old episodes of RAW/Smackdown in full. I haven't watched any of the WCW/ECW **** either. Just knowing I can is incredible. Just knowing there's a wealth of those documentaries and the legends' roundtables is enough for me. That's where I find my value. If they upload all the DVDs they've ever produced onto the Network, that would be the tits.
