More money made for the company=Bigger draw.
Well sure if you count NWA then probably. But if you count just WCW, it's probably Goldberg (behind Hogan).

WCW was founded in '88, so I doubt it.

These numbers disagree with you: https://sites.google.com/site/chrish...s/avghouseshow

Plus PPV buyrates were at their highest in 98-99.

PPV buyrates wouldn't tell the whole story anyway. Wrestlers worked a lot more dates back in the 80's. WCW in '93 after Bischoff took over drastically reduced house shows, so you have to take that into account. I didn't see anything on the site that said it was adjusted for inflation. Flair was gone where these charts start so you effectively have to take '91 and '92 out of the equation. The PPV buyrates only start at '95. These numbers don't take into account any Japan Super Show or any other Japan show that WCW did. There are a lot of things missing that I would like to take a look at.

Lol, you're reaching there man. You can find PPV buy rates on other sites, they weren't comparable to the late 90s.

And those house show numbers are attendance numbers, not $ made at the gate, so inflation isn't a factor with those numbers. It's cut and dry, WCW's highest TV ratings, PPV buyrates, and house show attendance numbers were in 1998 and 1999 when Goldberg was relevant.

Ok, let's go with what you got. Goldberg won the world title in what, July?

Bash at the Beach: He wrestled Curt Hennig for the title. Not a big drawing match. They were there to see Rodman/Hogan vs. DDP/Malone

Road Wild: He was in a battle royal with the nWo. I might give you that though I think the buyrate was to see the tag match between DDP/Leno vs. Bischoff/Hogan.

Fall Brawl: He didn't wrestle at all.

Halloween Havoc: He wrestled DDP. I'll give you that.

World War 3: He didn't wrestle at all.

Starrcade: He wrestled Nash. I'll give you that.

So half the ppvs that he was champion, he either wasn't in a high profile match or didn't wrestle at all.

And you cannot tell me that a guy that wrestled four years for a company produced more money than a guy that wrestled 12 years for the company. I refuse to believe that.

You're only going off PPV Buy Rates though. I'll admit though you can't even give credit to Goldberg for BATB cause that had Malone and Rodman. House Show numbers and TV ratings are better indicators of a person's draw ability since they are cheaper than buying a PPV. House show attendance was at it's highest when Goldberg was champion.

I know on the surface it seems outlandish that a guy's 2 year run could outdraw Flair who was around much longer, but the numbers they did during 98-99 were never seen before. That was pro wrestling's peak of popularity and Goldberg had a lot to do with it.

That I can agree with. But somebody doing one house show would not sell as much as a double or triple shot, which were common back in the 80's.

I think Rodman/Malone sold in July, Leno/Bischoff sold in August, WarGames sold in September, Warrior and Hogan (along with Goldberg DDP sold in October), World War 3 sold in November, and Nash and Goldberg sold in December.

I definitely agree with all of those. "Da Streak" was must-see TV too. When they came to Cincinnati, my Dad took me and we sat in the front row, main event was Goldberg vs. The Giant. It was amazing seeing them in person. You don't realize how huge The Giant is until you're right next to him. And then Goldberg ****ing picks him up and jackhammers him with minimal struggle...it was surreal to see up close.

I agree. Goldberg was a freak. I have something else for you. If not to persuade you, then to simply look at the chart and be able to compare different superstars runs. I didn't know it, but The Rock actually sold more seats than Austin in their runs.

Yeah I've seen those numbers before. No doubt that Flair was a big draw back in the day.

Austin/Rock is a complete different discussion and interesting debate. There's a guy over at wrestlingforum.com who's entire existence is predicated on convincing people that The Rock was a bigger draw than Austin. It's pretty comical and the house show gate was one of his arguments (which is valid to be fair). But he would say things like Summerslam 98 was a draw because of Rock/HHH not Austin/Taker. Then you get a PPV buy rate that wasn't very good and he would pin the blame on Austin (including IYH: Rock Bottom, oh the irony).

You two are really taking up a page debating the popularity of whatever of freaking Goldberg........let that sink in.

So what? You didn't have to join in the discussion if you didn't want to. One thing I can't stand about this site. Two people are having a discussion (not a flame war) and someone wants to comment about how pointless or stupid a convo is. Then don't join in the discussion. I spoilered it.

It was moreso a debate of Goldberg's popularity compared to that of Flair's. There's no debating Goldberg's popularity.

Regardless of what numbers and essays are thrown out, I can't fathom someone believing Goldberg's popularity was anywhere near that of Flair's.
