Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Schiavone was a WCW lifer though. He was like the WCW version of Michael Cole. Both were mediocre at best, but, through politicking and just the insulated nature of the business, have had jobs for life. Both got progressively worse through the years too.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I remember seeing it on Nitro but I wasn't really following WCW at the time so I thought it was a Sid vs Steiner match, I didn't realize I was watching the match where it happened yesterday. The announcers couldn't have possibly undersold the injury anymore than they did during the PPV. Sid is making a comeback, it cuts to the limo and Schiavone calmly says Sid appears to have hurt his leg. Would have loved to hear a JR reactionComment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I recently decided to start watching WCW from the first Nitro until it gets really bad in 99. I really wish I had WCW Saturday Night to watch also but I'll get by without it. I'm at the Clash of the Champions where Hennan wigged out after Pillman messed with him during the match. Heenan actually dropped the F bomb. They keep showing the WCW hotline commercials, which are great. Did any of you guys ever call the hotline and if so what kind of info did they give you?Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
When I was 6 or 7 I called that hotline a bunch of times one month, and racked up like a $200 phone bill. Didn't go over well with my parents lol. I don't remember any insider information, but I recall playing some stupid game where you'd press 2 to do a body slam or 3 for a suplex, etc. That was when Jim Ross was running it. When Okerlund took over he actually reported info from the dirtsheets, and made himself a ton of money on that hotline.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I've been watching a lot of pre NWO WCW and a lot of stuff after the WWE took over the ratings war. It seems like Hall and Nash over the years have taken blame for the demise of the company, but they did way more good than bad. Hogan's entire run in WCW was complete trash outside of the NWO, I saw a Nitro where he was in the Dungeon of Doom dressed in black carrying a sword because he was on "the dark side", the crowd was chanting Hogan sucks during his cage match vs The Giant at Superbrawl 96. The NWO wouldn't have reached the heights it did without him, but long term I think WCW would have been better off without him. I can only imagine what things would have been like if they never signed Hall and NashComment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
WCW before Bischoff and Hogan took over was actually damn good, but unfortunately attendance and business was bad because the wrestling business overall was in the trash. I mean, just compare Starrcade '93 to Starrcade '94 for the before and after. No comparison.
Bischoff was just lucky he was in a position to sign Hall and Nash for all that money.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I think Bischoff deserves at least a little bit of credit. in the end though he got way in over his head and Hogan's destructive ego along with Hall and Nash destroyed the company. If they had someone who could've reigned in everyone and they let the NWO gimmick die its natural death I think WCW would still be around in some form.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

The missing piece was....Vince McMahon. Just like with Russo, all those guys were in need of the guy who could say no sometimes.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I'm at Hardcore Heaven '95. Bill Alfonso is this rule touting referee that calls literally everything, often ruining ECW matches for the fans. Commisioner Tod Gordon tells Alfonso he will be reffing the tai pei deathmatch between Ian and Axl Rotten because it has no rules. Axl hits Ian one time and Ian blades a small cut on his forehead. Alfonso stops the match because Ian apparently can't see with that little trickle of blood on his face. LOLNFL- Green Bay Packers
