    Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

From a new story on The Verge:

A FREE TIER IS COMING SOON — AND SO IS A MORE EXPENSIVE ONE

WWE wants to include the same free-to-watch videos you’d find on its mobile app as part of WWE Network everywhere, including on TV devices. “Our free content lived separately from our premium subscription content. They were kind of in different places,” Barrios told me, outlining the Network’s upcoming free streaming option. “What’s coming here soon, in weeks and not months, is the beginning of integration of our free content with our paid content. It’ll be one integrated experience, and what content you can access just depends on what level member you are.”

But WWE has bigger ideas for the future, including a step-up premium subscription that could add exclusive content and even add merchandise and ticketing components.

    • Free: This will offer the same free-to-watch videos you’d normally find on WWE.com. Barrios said WWE might also offer timed previews of paid WWE Network content.

    • Regular: The standard WWE Network experience, combining free content with subscription benefits like live pay-per-views, on-demand streaming, and original programming.

    • Premium: “We think there’s also an opportunity to super-serve our most passionate Network subscribers with a premium tier that’ll bring together more content for them, more features for them, and also integrating some of our other non-video services like our commerce — potentially integrating something like free shipping, bringing together our digital ticketing efforts in there. It becomes the one place to experience everything WWE.” Barrios didn’t disclose how much WWE might charge for the premium tier.

Unless there's some incredible reason to bump up, I'll just stick with the current tier. Ticket offers and free shipping for WWEShop aren't enough of an incentive.

I took a few surveys years ago where that stuff was included. Either it polled really well or they don't have many ideas for a premium tier.

          Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

Premium would basically be "WWE Prime"?

Get access to all the videos, while getting free shipping on all orders.

One thing I'd do if they go that route. Offer promotions for those premium subscribers. Maybe once a month a few people win a free wweshop giftcard, or win a free month of the network?

If I were them, I'd offer fixed contracts.

Let's say $12.99 a month if you're just subscribing on a monthly basis (like August for SS, then not again until November) but if you want a 6 month contract, it costs $65.99 total($10.99 a month average). An annual contract would be $119.99 total ($9.99 a month average)

So people paying month by month pay more per month, and the ones locked in for half or a full year get the discount.

Seems fine by me. They’re keeping the normal network as as not raising the base price. Only thing they could ever do to get me to pay more is offer Raw and Smackdown in their entirety either immediately after they end or early the next day. But they’ll never do that so I’m safe.

Once the new tiers get introduced, how often will we have to hear about it on TV?

If the goal is to annoy and drive away even more viewers, I would go with it.

I wonder how many people actually do the new subscriber stuff who havent found some loophole(if one exists) to keep on signing up and counting as a new subscriber.

Are there people who have watched WWE for months or years and will suddenly subscribe to the network for that month to give it a chance? I feel like if people wanted to they will. Saying its free for a month doesn't sound like it would lead to many if any people suddenly signing up and paying after the trial is up.

There definitely is a loophole to not pay monthly still.

Commentators will plug it (obviously), but they'll also put together 30-second ads with bold, blocky text and flashy graphics that'll put over the tiers more effectively and in a shorter timeframe than any of the announcers could do.

And I doubt WWE cares that much. If it means inflating the subscription count, WWE is all for it. It's such a small % of their bottom line, that it's mostly just useful as a prop during the financial reports.

                                2nd last SD of 99.

Sd kicks off with Foley addressing the locker room backstage regarding the "McMahon Helmsley ERROR". Lockerroom agrees, Raw sucked...except the topless stuff lol. And he doesn't want to see MSP 7 times a show. Steph interrupts and says McMahon Helmsley era is over. It's just McMahon era now. She gives everyone matches they want, and makes a WWF Title match for Mankind with HHH as Jericho would say "suspended in a cage above the ring like some sexy pinata" so he cant get involved.
