Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Finished 1st half of 1999. June was a rather weird month altogether.
-Higher power reveal
-The mysterious briefcase movement (I still think Bossman made the only logical sense, especially given that he re-joined the Corporate Ministry the next night AND Austin made a similar stipulation in his title match on Raw)
-Beaver Cleavage competing in the ring, then "shoot" promo and turning into Chaz
-Austin winning the WWF title on Raw
-Billy Gunn as KOTR
-GTV
I know Russo went to WCW in September, but was he "phoning it in" or did other things happen backstage around this time?
Also, everyone knows the Edge spear on Jeff Hardy at WM17, but I found this one to be an underrated one that happened 2 years earlier. Funny enough, Edges spears during other matches weren't so good around this time (it looked more like a tackle than a spear).

Russo wasn’t even going to WCW at this time.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
lol, so stuff just didn't make sense by accident?
Anyways, I'm entering the time of the Wrestlemania 2000 roster. That was the first WWF video game I ever owned (WCW Nitro being the first overall). I never watched Nitro, but got the video game because someone was selling it for next to nothing at a garage sale (guess they were tuning out of WCW in 99). I didn't even watch wrestling at the time I got WM2000, but I still loved playing it.
Hardys were one of the guys I remembered most when I first got the game. Their 5 second looped theme song, and I liked their gear back then too.
It's cool to finally be watching parts that the first WWF game I played was based off of. I remember in the early days, I had no idea about many of those characters. Chaz? Scott Taylor? And didn't know about guys gimmicks either like Prince Albert, so watching fills in these gaps. I never unlocked HBK though (could never get past the rumble), but did unlock everyone else.Last edited by Majingir; 08-11-2018, 11:32 AM.Comment

Stuff didn’t make sense all the time. Before, during, and after Russo. Happened on the other channel all the time too. I encourage you to revisit the end of Starrcade 96 and 97.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Watched the Legends Battle Royal from '87 and the main thing that stood out to me were the pre and post interviews w/ some of the participants. Common thread was the risky and aerial moves the current wrestlers were doing. If you ever attended a WWE live event (house shows and PPVs) which wrestler(s) did you buy a ticket to see? https://forms.gle/d5uh8iifDbfDBdDd8Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
So, I've always hated the "continue watching" section of The Network. Only because I swear I'd watch **** all the way through but for whatever reason it'd say I stopped with like 30 minutes left or something like that.
So I've been doing the whole WWE watch through thing. I tried this about a year ago but took a break and forgot where I left off. Because of that, I decided to start over sometime before KotR '96. A couple nights ago I got back to right before No Way Out 2000. I needed a break from the bull**** snoozefest of the McMahon-Helmsley era so decided to just clear my "continue watching" list. Lo and ****ing behold, I find where I left off a year ago; right before No Way Out 2001 lol.
It's amazing the changes of one year. Kurt is solidified as a main eventer as opposed to hunting for the European championship. ****ing no more Val Venis or Godfather because they joined the worst faction ever. No DX, no NOA (NOA should have never ever been broken up). Jericho is pretty much in the same place. Like, same exact place; as a mid almost upper carder as IC champ. Big Show is so fat, now. Rikishi has gone from fan favorite to being a bad *** team with Haku. Taker is back as ABA Taker teaming with Kane. E&C are dbags (lol) now as opposed to quiet fan favorites. Dudleys went through DV counseling and are no longer power bombing chics through tables. They're still denying The Rock of his title. SCSA is back and I think I like this Austin a little more than 99 SCSA. McMahon is back*.
*WWE needs to stop the GM and authority ****. Only McMahon and maybe Shane did it right. Stephanie and HHH flat out suck at it. They're like the friend that has the answer for every power you used to have as kids. They talk too damn much and hardly ever take meaningful Ls.
Well, there's my rant.
Wait wait wait.... They're also super hyping the XFL too [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Entering July 99: (final FULL month of just Raw, as SD premiers at end of August)
Spoiler-Austins first show as champ again. Stipulation for Fully Loaded, if Austin wins, it's an "end of an era" with McMahon going away. If Undertaker wins, Austin will never get title shot again.
-Rock does his first backstage promo where he covers the interviewer(in this case Cole) face with his new t-shirt
-Another odd timing moments between real life and old videos. Matt Hardy might be "retired", and I'm now watching the Raw with his first ever tag title win over Acolytes.
-I've never liked Hayes, but I liked the moment during the Hardys title win interview. Interviewer was asking Hayes about the win, and Hayes is like "It's not about me, it's their time now" and backs out of the interview. That's how you help put over guys!
-Unfortunately that interview gets cut off by another GTV. This time showing Droz/Albert getting ready to be Hos because of losing a match on Heat
-Shane sets up a beatdown of Test, and forces Steph to watch
-Running storyline of the night is someone vandalizing Chynas car. She gets Road Dogg/Xpac arrested.
-Al Snow vs DLo in hardcore title match. Another one of those matches showing why Hardcore division was so fun. Just fighting all around the arena. At one point they're fighting by a payphone and DLo is like "Next time, you should've called 1-800-COLLECT!"). They then fight on an escalator. Funny seeing them fighting the whole time while escalator is going up. And on the other side, you just randomly see some kid trying to get out of the shot...by running UP a down escalator.
-More Chaz stuff..This time we see Thrasher return and a Headbangers reunion?
-Edge/Christian get handcuffed and attacked by Bossman, and Gangrel isn't coming out to save them
-Billy/Chyna beat down on PMS, and spraypaint DX in the middle of the ring(with same spraypaint found on Chynas car). lol, JR sees the spraypaint and is like "Spraypaint? Real original....(NWO)"
-Kane in handicap match with Big Show/Holly, and Undertaker comes down for the save!
-Main event of Rock/HHH inside a steel cage! The cage match where HHH won, but ref was out, so both guys fight out of the cage, return inside the cage, and almost have a double finish with one going out the door and another climbing over.
Did Rock/HHH have other cage matches? I've always had memories of watching a Rock/HHH cage match as one of the first matches I've seen. Don't know if this was the match I saw(either when it happened, or just as a highlight later on). Rock being suspended was another early moment I had watching wrestling, but I know that didn't come until after WM17.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Raws before Fully Loaded:
Spoiler
-One show starts off with Austin/McMahon contract signing. I never knew McMahon was involved in a motorcycle accident(unless this was fake?) that put him in a wheelchair for abit. Either way, contract signing ends with Undertaker busting Austin open and McMahon signing in Austins blood.
-Road Dogg/XPac "tar and feather" Fink for giving up their location weeks back
-Austin interrupts a Jeff/Debra segment and beats up Jarrett(I think this was around the Austin/Debra days in real life?)
-During a MSP-Test confrontation, Shane "accidently?" elbows Steph. That was one of the loudest "OOOOO" moments I've heard at the time.
-I believe it's the debut of the "Countdown to the Millenium" clock. Starts at 671 hours, 9 minutes, 58 seconds. Did Jericho actually debut EXACTLY at the end of the clock, or were they off a few minutes?
-Next weeks Raw starts with Corporate Ministry coming down. Something about seeing HHH wheeling McMahon down to the ring makes me laugh.
-Austin comes to the ring in yet another vehicle. The "bloodmobile".
-Shane apologizes to Steph for last week. Then proceeds to try and get her back together with one of his MSP guys.
-Funny watching Rock doing backstage skits with his "it doesn't matter what your name is!" bit to random backstage employees.
-Edge/Christian out of the Brood, yet Brood stuff still mysteriously happens.
-Kane turns on Undertaker after Undertaker chokeslammed XPac
-Main event of HHH vs Undertaker. Winner goes to Fully Loaded to face Austin. Match ends in no contest. Austin busts McMahon open.
Fully Loaded:
SpoilerJarrett beats Edge to become IC champ after Edge beat him the night prior at a house show in Toronto (was Edge winning the night before planned or was it a mistake?).
Acolytes beat Hardys to win tag titles after they pinned Hayes(who was part of match as a 3 on 2 handicap match)
Bossman beats Al Snow in another hardcore match that went all over the building and onto the streets(one person almost hit both of them and honked their horn and stopped for abit. I wonder if that was an actual person not knowing what was going on....or just Rikishi warming up lol)
Shamrock vs Blackman in an "Iron Circle match" which is basically a parking lot brawl. Viscera seemed to have too much fun being one of the guys by the cars. He loved honking the car horn during the match.
HHH beats The Rock in a strap match. Seeing HHH beating Rock so often and getting last laugh is making me not like him.
Austin beats Undertaker in first blood match meaning Vince is "gone".
That first blood match was so risky and I'm surprised it worked out. Both Austin and Undertaker were bleeding at earlier parts of the show. They're so lucky neither guy accidentally started bleeding during that match as any shot could've busted them open again. Though you could see parts of match where they were staying away from the head and actually covering up to avoid head shots.
Before this point(summer 99), I don't think I've seen guys bleeding much. Now it's happening multiple times a show.
And one cool shot from those Raws:Attached FilesComment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
I believe the countdown clock fast forwarded at bit the day he actually debuted. I don’t think it went the full time. Could be wrong.
