Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Yeah. The WCW one and the WWF one multiple times. Didn't go well. $100 phone bill or something. Which was a lot in 1992 apparently lol. I remember the WWF one had some kind of a game where you'd press 1 to punch, 2 to kick, etc. Like you were having a match. The WCW had some inside dirt sheet type stuff that I wouldn't have given a damn about at that age. Good times.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Watching some random March/April 1992 WCW TV on YouTube.
Dangerous Alliance sure rolled deep. Rick Rude, Arn Anderson, Steve Austin, Larry Zybesko, Bobby Eaton, Madusa AND Heyman.
JR keeps bringing up the WCW hot line on commentary. Pretty sure a 6 year old me called that number at least a few times smh.
Ricky Morton as a heel... still one of the dumbest things you will see.
Greg Valentine and Terry Taylor (The Taylor Made Man) were tag team champions at one point? That can't be real. The Patriots (Firebreaker Chip and Todd Champion) are the ultimate generic roided up babyface tag team.
Jim Ross and Jesse Ventura on commentary together feels so odd. It seems like JR legit hated Jesse lol. Not great chemistry. Other commentary duos on their TV that year: Schiavone and Magnum TA, JR and Bill Fralic, JR and Randy Owen, JR and K Allen Frey AKA Kip Frey. Lol.
Apparently for a while on WCW Saturday Night they were best 2 out of 3 falls matches every week, with commercial breaks after each fall. Not a bad way to get around commercials interrupting matches. Steve Austin and Barry Windham had some battles with this stip.
Part of me thinks this era of wrestling is the perfect balance of great selling with more athleticism and moves in general. Seeing a midcard guy like the Z Man go out there with Steve Austin and sell his *** off AND work a long match is impressive. Selling (with facial expressions and everything) used to be such a satisfying part of wrestling.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
3/31/97 Bret and HBK in ring promo was just so damn good. It’s easy to see how these guys worked themselves in to a shoot over the next few months.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
Was watching a ton of shoot interviews about 1985/1986, so I signed up for Peacock to watch some of that era.
Maybe I'm blind, but Primetime Wrestling and Tuesday Night Titans aren't in the WWE section at all. You have to search for them. Guess we should just be lucky that they are on there at all at this point. [emoji2369]Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
The in-ring was amazing. I guess business sucked, which is why they went from Kip Frey to Watts. And Flair had long been fired by Jim Herd. Bischoff was there already, but was only do on-air stuff.Comment

Yeah, Peacock’s UI still absolutely sucks for a content library like WWE’s. But it was clearly made for TV shows to be displayed with a simple season > episode > watch flow, and it’s fine enough for that stuff.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
If you go to the main WWE section and scroll down enough, there’s a carousel titled 80s Flashback. That’s the only place they show up for me.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
The Smoking Gunns had to take off an insane amount of **** to wrestle.
Long coat, vest, bandana, button up shirt, cowboy hat
Then they still wrestled in jeans and cowboy bootsComment

Dusty Rhodes over in WCW must have been watching those two thinking, "it's time to bring back the Bunkhouse Stampede, baby" lol.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
And yet they kind of pulled it off (no pun intended). Cowboy gimmick, but two huge dudes who were super athletic and looked like they could take care of themselves.

For real. And you know the gimmick worked because Bart couldn’t do a thing after they dumped the Gunns.
