Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...

9 years ago today(but technically a few days earlier since exact date I don't know if it's confirmed or not since nobody truly knows what happened)

That was the craziest moment for me in WWE. I never watched during Owen days, but I did see the Eddie stuff, but Benoit one for me was the bigger death. Before even knowing anything that happened, was so horrible hearing that news about him. And then that entire episode of Raw, Mr.McMahon having to tell everyone about his death being a storyline, all the fans in the arena were sent home, the show was basically cancelled, and they had the tribute for him all night.

5 years ago today, exactly on a Monday too obviously. One of those rare "is it real or fake" moments at time it happened. Too bad back then, wwe had taped show, so we knew an hour after it happened, it was scripted cause next week's raw got filmed afterwards.

I was 16 and by that time the whole Hulkamania thing had completely sailed on by. The formation of the NWO was the catalyst for arguably the greatest run in professional wrestling history.

I was a week away from turning 11, listening to it on a scrambled PPV channel. My mind was blown.

I was 16. Most shocking turn ever. Not even the fact that it was Hogan, it was the build up that was so good.

Guess I'll be the young guy.

I was 6. Still remember it though. I just remember my Dad saying over and over.... You've gotta be kidding me!

Instant depression. Doesn't feel that long ago.

All I remember is that Bash at the Beach was the first WCW PPV I really really really wanted to buy (I was 12). The Outsiders gimmick had me hooked.

                          Same here. 6.

I felt like I was older since I remember it so well.

I was 16, and expecting Bret Hart to be the 3rd guy since he was off TV at the time lol

That's kinda interesting. The Bret Hart of that era would've been perfect to lead a faction like the NWO what with him starting to come off as the embittered, hardened superstar who was tired of seeing the "old order" of the wrestling world changing around him.

I feel like no one could've done that role better than Hogan. So so glad that they didn't go with Sting.
