Re: AEW Off-Topic
A rather weird change.
AEW originally booked the Winnipeg show in March for Tuesday (for Tuesday night Dynamite) which also included the Rampage taping after.
Due to a "revised tv network broadcast schedule", the show has been moved to Wednesday, Dynamites original day anyways.
I wonder what happened which caused AEW to have to move to Tuesday in the first place just for things to wind up going back to Wednesday.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
I personally wouldn't make this choice until we were closer to the dates, though I am a sucker for surprises, and All Out normally contains the Women's Casino Battle Royale, so with no other information I would choose that.Support Local Sports

Sheets are reporting there was a production meeting between Thunder Rosa and the rest of the women’s roster where she apologized for her behavior in the past, including sandbagging and working stiff in hopes that everyone can move forward.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Crazy time in free agency it sounds like for AEW talent and a talent AEW will have interest in too.
Spoiler
Kenny Omegas deal is apparently either up or expiring soon. Would he stay on with AEW or possibly follow Cody to WWE?
Cody while surprising, he at least has the Rhodes family name to fall back on and also use in his return. Omega in WWE I feel like it would be at best like when AJ first came in, but even that's not guaranteed. Omega is probably best off with AEW.
And Jay White is a FA. WWE and AEW have interest in him. He's one guy I could see WWE really trying for since HHH would have him on the main roster.

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Can AEW regain any momentum that they lost from the Brawl Out saga last year? Seems to me the biggest problem is the lack of storytelling, they still seem to think 30 minute matches with a couple false finishes will keep the fans coming.
Again, everything happened last year coincided with Triple H taking over and WWE has been on an upswing while AEW is still trying to recover from All Out. It doesn't help that booking seemingly cools off talent when they are red hot(IE Wardlow), they disappear from TV without explanation. Lance Archer is finally making an appearance on AEW TV this week on Rampage after months of being off TV. Miro was good with the TNT Title run, then suddenly he's off TV.
What do you guys think needs to change as we enter year 4 of AEW?Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
To me there's just a sense of sameness with AEW, a "seen it already" feeling. Relying on a lot of guys that 2-3 years ago felt new and interesting on AEW TV, but now they've been through the ringer. Guys like Moxley, Hangman, or even midcarders like Orange Cassidy. Guys I like, but who I've seen a ton of on that show. Even MJF, as great as he is, it feels like they are using the same formula they used in his feuds with Wardlow and Punk.
Plus, just bad decisions. Too much ROH content, pushing Jeff Jarrett, giving the Tag titles to the Gunns, just bizarre decisions. I don't know what the solution is. I knew when Cody left it was really going to hurt.
Maybe AEW had their moment to really shine, and now keeping it going with new talent just ain't happening. At the beginning you had trio of Jericho, Omega and Moxley, along with Cody, and it felt very new and special.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
Jeff Hardys career could be all but over, at least for any major promotion.
Don't see AEW or WWE wanting to touch him after everything, especially his recent court case (38 day jail sentence, 10 year suspension of his license among other things)Comment

Update on Three Major Contracts in AEW...
Spoiler
Meltzer noted that there has been time added to Omega’s contract but it is unclear how much. He adds that the Young Bucks’ contracts are up at the end of the year.
“The free agent reference in last week’s issue of the key guy WWE was looking at led to conjecture regarding Kenny Omega, which has been a name heavily talked about in certain circles in WWE and other places in wrestling as well. Omega’s AEW contract date was to have expired at the end of January as he had a four-year deal with no option clause to add time that started on February 1, 2019. His contract does allow AEW to extend it for the time he was out injured, which has happened. He was out nine months so that would be a maximum of November but the extended time frame hasn’t been finalized as far as how long…
The Young Bucks deals are up at the end of the year. One would expect all of them to get offers from WWE and AEW that are for great money from either side.Comment

But imagine Kenny coming out on the Raw after WM if Cody wins...that would break the internet.Comment

Re: AEW Off-Topic
For me personally -
1. Void out the TNT/TBS TV contract and go with their own streaming service. $10 a month. Every live dynamite, go live with Rampage and make it two hours every week. I know the TV deal is a lot of money but the product is boring more times than not because the "edge" is gone. It feels like im watching a lesser version of WWE and too much "entertainment". This isn't why I started watching wrestling again in 2019. It was because AEW felt like an alternative and in a way, like ECW. Doing more with less and just having better matches on a consistent basis. This would also allow Khan to run AEW like it was in the beginning. With Discovery, this crap is only going to get worse like that "BIG" announcement last week of some damn reality show or whatever the hell it is. Seriously, im so sick of sports entertainment. I just want wrestling.
2. Release a lot of wrestlers, male and female. There's way too many. Roster is bloated. And Khan wants to sign like every nobody in the world and then put them on TV over far more established and better wrestlers. Quality > quantity.
3. Close out Ring of Honor. End it. Turn it into a development fed ala NXT. There's a lot of young talent but man, they're green as grass. Trying to run ROH makes no sense to me. Plus, arguably the biggest reason was the Briscoes and sadly, since Jay died, give Mark a singles push and just vacate the tag titles with them being the final tag team champions. Really hope they don't put someone with Mark. I hate when this happens in wrestling.
4. Run live events which they're finally starting to do. With the streaming service, they could run these instead of Dark/Elevation which I would eliminate. Since I would have ROH as the developmental fed, no reason to keep Dark/Elevation.
5. Give the talent some TV time like Miro, Lance Archer, etc. These guys are good to great and they're just wasting away in AEW. Khan has signed way too many wrestlers and nowhere near enough time to showcase them all. It's ridiculous. Bring back Andrade. I can't believe that there's so much talent and im stuck watching mediocre wrestlers who simply aren't ready yet for prime time.
6. Stop spending money on wrestlers that could be put towards re-signing Omega, Young Bucks and MJF which in my mind are 100% necessary. Omega should be in the championship group, not six man tags. Young Bucks should be in the tag title hunt. They're the best tag team especially if Khan doesn't keep FTR.
7. Starting in 2024, have 6 PPV events. One every 8 weeks or so.
8. Work out an exclusive deal with New Japan. And sign Jay White!!! Another guy who'll probably go to WWE because Khan rather sign 5 nobodies than White. And if Ospreay ends up being a FA soon, sign him too!!! Come on.
9. In combination with #1, I would add more titles but eliminate the six man tag titles. World title, intercontinental, united states and television title. Have younger guys start out with TV and then elevate them level by level. More established talent can start out with U.S. or intercontinental and then go for the world title. Tag team wise, world and U.S. tag champions. Women's division - world and intercontinental. Maybe a tag team title division but im not a fan of teams that aren't actual teams so I probably wouldn't bother.
10. Women's division wise, outside of a few, it's just not any good. I would release several women, send a few others to developmental and once available, go sign Mandy Rose (I don't care about her onlyfans as that would make more people pay for the streaming service), Tessa Blanchard (yeah, I don't care about her past, give her a shot because even rusty, she would still be better than the vast majority already there) and of course, Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks) who said she's an actual free agent.
11. Get Jeff Jarrett off TV. He should be in the back period. Seriously, this guy will be 56 in July. And he's in the tag team four way at Revolution. Gee, I wonder if he and Lethal will win the tag titles. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they do. Lethal is good but get him away from this damn stable. UGH.
12. Khan needs to hire some actual bookers, no not writers, bookers because he doesn't have a clue most of the time.
End rant.Comment
