    Re: AEW Dynamite Thread

Enjoyable episode of Dynamite this week for sure.
-Seeing CM Punk holding a World Title again is very cool. Not sure about this partnership with FTR though. But solid opening tag team match against Castor and Gunn Club. And I dont watch NJPW so I dont know who Hiroshi Tanahashi is.
-Best moment of the night goes to that MJF pipebomb. I dont know if this is a work or a shoot. Or both. But man he is good at what he does.
-Miro is finally back. And John Morrison Elite is also back. But to his jobbing ways. Only in a new company now.
-Too many 10 man tag team matches on this show but I get it. Its a way to get everyone on the show.
-Build up Wardlow to become TNT Champion someday.
-Women's tag team match was solid too. Soho pinned Britt Baker. Thats cool to see.
-Great main event match between Moxley/Garcia. Got nothing bad to say about it

To be honest there isn't much I really like about AEW aside from MJF. When he's on my eyes are on the TV, when he's not I lose interest

Finally watched MJF’s promo. While there’s absolutely no denying his talent in delivering it and the content in the middle was fire. The beginning and end were sooooo lame. This is “insert real name here” and “fire me” *mic cuts out is just such telegraphed “worked shoot” stuff. They couldn’t have let him be a little bit more creative with how he started and ended that? Still an amazing promo I’m not saying it wasn’t just felt like typical AEW where outside of the actual matches they have such a hard time completely sticking the landing.

Personnel preference but with name dropping WWE I wish he’d gone further and dropped Cody’s name and how well he’s being treated in WWE as an example of why he should/wants to leave.

The funny irony in that Punk would end up being the Cena in this scenario to MJF's Punk. I know it wouldn't happen but it would be cool if this led to a AEW vs WWE Forbidden Door show. Have Cody return to AEW to pick up MJF.... both are battling over MJF lol.

Kind of how comic books do these huge crossover events, it would be an interesting storyline to have AEW vs. Ex-WWE talent. A Civil War of sorts. Hangman talked about wanting to defend AEW from Punk. MJF talked about WWE guys stealing his money. Could be cool. The WWE side (Punk, Bryan, Jericho, Mox, Cole, Miro, Hardys, FTR, etc.) would be super stacked starpower-wise. AEW would have Hangman, MJF, Wardlow (back on the same side!), Darby, Omega (I know he was in WWE- but didn’t make his name there), and the Bucks as their heavy hitters.

Would this be more like New Blood vs Millionaires Club or Frontline vs Main Event Mafia?

People not knowing if the MJF stuff is real or fake even in this day and age is exactly what makes it so good.

People want the realness and unexpected feeling that they once had in wrestling, and now they're getting it, but its driving some people crazy not knowing if it's real or not, and trying to figure out every little detail about what's going on.

I'm enjoying it either way. I've stayed away from dirt sheets much more and it's made watching things better. I dont want to know what plans might be happening, what was supposed to happen and all that. The "living under a rock" feeling isn't the worst feeling when watching wrestling.

Lol you either didn’t read the whole post or just aren’t too bright. I like AEW just fine but I don’t worship it as some infallible thing.

Tanahashi is probably one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all-time. He’s an 8x IWGP Heavyweight Champion who debuted in NJPW in 1999. It was his run in the late 2000s and early 2010s (along with Shinsuke Nakamura) that contributed to the revival of NJPW as the arguable #2 promotion in the world.

Even at the age of 45, the man can still go.

Tanahashi makes sense because at this point in his career he can put Punk over and it doesn't hurt him. In the same way Danielson could (in theory) lose to Okada. It's gonna be about the spectacle and match quality. The promotions are going to have to work together on how to match guys up like that, and I think it can work really well.

Really hoping for Okada vs Danielson. Don't want to see Hangman vs Okada as rumors have suggested even though that appears to not be happening at all which is good.

Sadly I had to google both of those things. I definitely don’t watch WWE and likely was a WWE guy when TNA was a thing so missed both those stories.

Normally I’m right there with you in general. I hate dirt sheets, rumors, and spoilers because I like not knowing and just going along for the ride. I have no desire to be a pretentious in-the-know wrestling fan. That said, I love MJF. He’s my favorite wrestler maybe ever… for sure today and it’s not even close. I REALLY don’t want him to go to WWE as I’ve quit their product a long time ago and have no desire to go back. No offense to anyone who still watches them… that’s great. They’re the #1 company for a reason. They just put out SO MUCH content and most of it isn’t good. AEW and their 3 hours a week of hit or miss programming is perfect for my tastes. I also like that it’s more adult and sport like.

I don’t want MJF going to WWE because it would be like my favorite ball player going to a team I loathe and hate watching play (I still haven’t seen a thing Cody’s done there despite being intrigued about what his return could look like). So because I don’t watch both products like most wrestling fans, I’m absolutely clamoring for information in a way I’ve never done before. And I have to just love MJF even more for making me do it. He really is the best thing in wrestling by a long shot.
