The fans singing Jericho’s entrance is still awesome.

I wonder how IC will end.

Based on this week, MJF joins, but Sammy,Santana,Ortiz have problems with that.

They give Jericho an ultimatum, either he's out or they quit. Jericho promises that they won't have to quit. Jerichos answer is that those 3 are kicked out. We then get Jericho,MJF,Hager vs Sammy,Santana,Ortiz feud.

Eventually sometime next year we get MJF vs Jericho feud when their friendship ends (Festival of Friendship style).

That's a good way to book things until next spring.

        That Jericho/MJF segment was gold.

That was the most unexpectedly funny thing I've seen in wrestling.

Eddie Kingstons "you left us behind" promo might have been one of the best all year.

I know AEW wants to be "the professional wrestling show", but moments like the 2 I just mentioned are what they've excelled at better than the wrestling itself. That's what they need more of because that's entertaining and they're good at it.

Although seeing some comments online...no wonder fans aren't always listened to. People ripping it acting like AEW doing something that isn't wrestling related is the worst thing since Shockmaster.

That Jericho/MJF segment was so damn good, knowing that the payoff will eventually be MJF turning on Jericho and taking over the Inner Circle in a Rock takes over the Nation kind of turn makes this so much better. It felt like watching Family Guy and they just break out into a song or dance out of nowhere or a cutaway.

I get they need opponents for Moxley and obviously it's building to a rematch with Omega for the title next year but do they have to keep feeding talent to him? They did this with Brodie and Archer, now Kingston. I'm fine with the TNT Title acting as a TV Title but they really need to find a belt that can be their IC Championship.

As far as fans not enjoying it, I mean it's what we do best, complain about pro wrestling booking. Cornette though may just have a heart attack lol.

When it comes to comedy and the theatre of the absurd (which pro wrestling lives in), AEW just owns all. For some reason the steaks coming out raw at the end of the MJF/Jericho segment had me howling.

I find the outrage hilarious. I don't watch any shows at all anymore but this caught my attention. It is what it is, mainstream wrestling needs stories and comedy segments otherwise it's too boring. I didn't have a problem with the segment, I can see why some people did but I don't think it's something to scream and pout about. It's still sports entertainment, they just put more focus on the work rate than WWE does overall.

In wrestling it's hard to please fans.

If you have too much wrestling, then it gets boring because it's simply 10-20 min matches constantly with no stories or anything, which is what we're at right now.

But then on the flip side, if you focus so much on stories and have almost all matches being 5 or fewer mins, people hate that too because "this isn't wrestling".

Which is why it's hard to have a balance on any show.

Although you could argue that the latter has led to more popularity and memorable moments. I mean when you think of a guy like Austin, Hogan, Rock, yes you remember classic matches, but promos/segments they're involved in are what you remember more.

Fenix out of the tournament due to injury. It's now Pentagon vs Omega.

Too bad it isn’t believable anymore. A like of the stuff AEW does doesn’t make any sense. You talk about someone leaving to become an entertainer on the same show that had a musical and SNL skits every week.

Yeah, what happened to being an alternative to "sports entertainment" & being a professional wrestling organization?

They've literally been doing WWE schtick but with more high spots, "disgruntled" ex - WWE talent at the top of the card & indy/overseas workers working the lower card.

I still want them to succeed, but they feel like a better produced early - era TNA or (from another OS'er who is knowledgeable about wrestling) PWG.

It's a promotion built around a comedic youtube series, a tag team who came up doing crotch chops in PWG , Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega and Cody. It was never going to be NJPW US. Athough NJPW has plenty of goofy **** too. That's what pro wrestling is.

The in-ring focus stuff came from Tony Khan talking about wanting to deliver a more satisfying product in that context, having wins/losses matter, etc. Staying away from the annoying WWE philosophy of booking matches and then finding any possible way to avoid finishes.

They realized that doesn't sell because the world isn't full of Jim Cornettes? And good for them - they've clearly got people watching.

This is revisionist history though, probably from people who don't want to contradict themselves for enjoying something that they'd crap on WWE for. AEW was clearly promoted as the serious, no-nonsense product, but it was a smart move. Playing the 'we won't be WWE' card (letting the viewer fill in whatever blank that is) is an easier sell than 'we'll kinda be like WWE sometimes but not other times'.

No one said they can't do comedy or goofy ****, but that isn't what they promised in the beginning.

I appreciate both a more serious wrestling show (NXT, ROH or NJPW) & a show with comedy thrown in.

I really think the AEW crowd would've enjoyed (and defended) anything they do as far as serious programming or comedy.

My only knocks are too many dangerous spots (IMO), blading & constantly taking digs at WWE while running similar programming. The finishes are better but they book nonsensical matches too.

I enjoy some of Jim Cornette's content. Especially when it comes to the history, psychology & booking of matches, but some of his criticism & hate is unfounded, petty & childish.

Also, he dislikes practically all modern wrestling, TBH.
