    Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision Thread

    Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision/Rampage Thread

Tony Khan needs to get a dead horse, name it Announcement and kick it every fifteen minutes or so, or at least every time he gets the urge to announce an announcement. Jesus.

For what it's worth, I am a fan of AEW and have been since the beginning but the announcements about announcements has become a tired trick that even loyal fans aren't entertained by anymore. There isn't any suspense to have when they are used so often. It would be better to tease a hint of what the announcement is while never using the word announcement. Surely someone else involved with AEW creative has noticed this becoming more than a silly annoyance for many.

I'm thinking the big announcement from Khan is that they will be having a PPV caliber Dynamite in Boston and that's where Mercedes Mone shows up, similar to Punk being on Rampage back in August 2021. They don't say it but you know who it will be.

I wonder if there would be a point to have her debut in Boston (unless they specifically went to TD) because even though she's from there, her in Boston is no Punk in Chicago or Edge in Toronto or Bret in Calgary. You don't have too many stars where their hometown reaction would be the loudest reactions of their career.

Trish in Toronto and soon to be Rhea in Australia (probably Becky in Ireland if they ever do a televised show there) are only women I could even think of who'd get career high hometown reactions.

At this point I'm trying to figure out why I should be excited by Mercedes debuting in AEW. Maybe it's because I don't view women's wrestling as being as hot overall as others do, in either promotion. I can't think of a big matchup that I'd be looking forward to her having. And I would say the same for someone like Cargill going to WWE. When you get past the big moment, what do u have?

To me, as someone who is really looking forward to her coming to AEW, there are a few I'm stoked for. Outside of random matches like her vs Serena Deeb, Billie Starkz, or Deonna that will just be sweet matches, her vs Athena can main event any day. Her vs Shida for 20+ mins would tear it down. But Mercedes vs Hayter could legit main event All In.

Her style definitely lends itself well to AEW's hard hitting matches, so Hayter makes sense for sure.

Yeah, true but if not in Boston, it could only be at Revolution which is what I would do. I don't actually like announcing talent signings. I prefer to see them "show up" on a PPV or Dynamite and be like, oh crap, wasn't expecting that.

                We'll see what Khan does.

Swerve shouting out Kofi Kingston in his Black History Month speech.

Say what you want about AEW vs WWE, or try bringing up a name like Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns to an AEW crowd, but Kofi Kingston is definitely one of those guys where especially after he retires (but even now) you'll hear the old "nobody has a bad thing to say about him." and people love him.

                    Re: AEW Dynamite/Collision/Rampage Thread

One of the issues with Tony's whole "ranking/realism" mindset, fans aren't all on board with it.

Sure, matches have time limits and all that, but fans don't want to see some match just end in a time limit draw. Just doesn't sit well with them. Especially when fans don't even know what's going on when that bell sounds for the time to be up.

Since this is Sting's last match, doesn't it make it too obvious the Bucks are leaving Revolution with the Tag Titles? Would have been better if Matthew and Nicholas cost Sting & Darby the tag titles instead.

Wonder if Omega will come back and join them embracing his EVP role as well?

Who says they have to win?

Sting could retain in his final match and either Darby finds a new partner, or they vacate it which allows for another tournament.

I know it's more about what will actually happen at the show but pretty crazy Tony's big announcement was spoiled like this.

I hope that her debut isn't the majority of what this is. That's not changing the wrestling industry by any stretch.

Matthew and Nicholas should poke fun at Cody by teasing they will give the tag match against Sting & Darby away to someone else lol.

I have only wanted AEW to do well but this is probably one of the worst-named PPVs ever, right there next to WWE's This Tuesday In Texas in 1991.

Great Balls of Fire could be a close second.

Oof. Someone must've given Tony Khan a bad batch of coke recently or something. Geez.
