I hadn't either, but people have put up clips (because that's what we do these days) of him using the same line in the 80s and 90s.

I might be more put off by that aspect. It's a stupid line, but pretty forgettable. But that he's STILL doing material he did 30 years ago? I know modern life is against the whole Cornette brand, but damn.

Looks like this Cornette situation completely killed any momentum the show still had. Seems most of their fans are pissed about how the Cornette thing was handled. The views are drastically down and the comments are just full of people pissed about it.

Makes you wonder if it was the correct move. Twitter outrage can make a small minority of people seem very loud. I'm not defending what he said by the way, but I think if every company responded to any Twitter outrage out there, everyone would be out of business. And it was a TAPED show, why is Cornette the only one taking the heat for it? The head of the company/whoever approved it to air should take heat too.

What's their normal viewership after a little less than a day if 67,000 is a drastic drop?

Asking honestly, because I don't track their numbers.

I haven't been tracking either but it seemed the first few were doing over 100K in the first 24 hours.

The other thing is looking at the like/dislike ratio. Episode 6 for example is 6,400 likes to 149 dislikes. Episode 7 (the one where it happened) has 4,800 likes to 493 dislikes. And now Episode 8 (the latest after) is 2,300 likes to 1,900 dislikes, lol.

I’ve noticed, and this isn’t wrestling specific, but people aren’t willing to boycott things they enjoy. So the outrage tends to come from people that weren’t really your viewers/customers in the first place

Yeah I saw a comment somewhere that resonated really well. They caved to the mob who weren't your fans in the first place and as a result hurt your fans who actually cared about the product. Like him or not, Cornette was a big loss for that show.

There's an interview with Shane Douglas about the whole situation and I think he was really well-spoken about the situation. He shouldn't have said it, but the show was taped a month before it aired. It should've been cut and edited before being aired. He also made the point about how Cornette and guys like himself (Shane) are from a different era and things they did/said back then don't fly in 2019 but they're still human and every now and then we say stupid **** that slips. He says if it was live then Cornette would've rightfully taken a lot of heat for it. But since it was said on a taped show a MONTH before it aired that NWA/the guy in charge of editing the show should've taken just as much heat as well.

He should, but he's not a public voice/face on the shows so he doesn't catch the heat. Whoever that is definitely should've caught it before air and Cornette should be smart enough to update his material over the last thirty years.

This was such an easily avoidable situation for them.

Nah that “other era” bull**** excuse doesn’t fly anymore. That joke was appalling and he should have known better. The fact that it’s a taped show and it made it through the editing process is even more appalling. All anyone responsible for letting that make it to air abound be fired as well. Zero tolerance for garbage like that in today’s day and age.

                    NWA announces Cornette's replacement:

Stu Bennett aka Bad News Barrett

Not gonna lie, that's an interesting acquisition.

I loved the Bad News Barrett character.

He's doing the NWA title match against Magnus that's been planned for like 3 months since Magnus showed up on Marty's vlog thing at the next PPV. Then he's heading back to ROH. Then heading off wherever at the beginning of 2021.

This is my favorite wrestling program right now. Aldis is doing an amazing job as champ and Tim Storm might be the best babyface going today.

So this show is dead but they are debuting a new show next week called Shockwave. If they killed Powerrr for a new show, I'm guessing it won't have a retro-feel to it like Powerrr did.

It'll be interesting to see what the show looks like. NWA had good momentum coming into 2020 and then COVID-19 brought it all to a halt. Hope they can get up and running again.
