The Rock has been let go?

I've heard from a couple wrestling websites that WWE has decided not to renew the contract of The Rock, but I can't come across anything official. Can anyone confirm this?

They are currently debating whether to renew. The biggest issue here is the contract includes Dwayne Johnson's usage of "The Rock" as a stage name.

I say let him go. He does nothing but waste 1/4 of a Raw talking and put on mediocre PPV matches every now and then.

I say let him go if he's not gonna be in the WWE full-time.

Give him the axe. If he isn't going to dedicate and be in the trenches everyday like the others on the roster he has to go.

Wow! What's with this sudden string of folks who are deadset against the likes of Rock, Austin, or Foley ever again appearing on WWE television?

The man (the Rock) has done so much for wrestling, would it really kill Vince to allow him to use the name HE made famous in his movies while allowing him to perform on a pay-per appearance type of arrangement with the WWE?

I say just come to some sort of agreement where he's not under contract per say, but he does agree to a certain number of TV spots per year and he's granted permission to use "The Rock" for his own personal career choices.

I agree. WWE got as much benefit from the Rock as he got from the name. Like you said, they should let him use the name and he can appear every once in a while to break up the monotony. Somehow, it just wouldn't be the same, seeing him as Dwayne Johnson in a movie. For everything he's done for the company, they should just give him the name outright and let him go, but the chances of that are probably pretty remote.
