Re: WWE RAW & Smackdown Thread

What people don't realize not just about Reigns, but others too, is that it's being done on purpose.

Modern WWE isn't about people being like "Boo, this guy sucks, he said bad things and is facing a guy I like!"

Their goal is to make people actually hate someone for reasons like "why did he win so many matches? Why doesn't he defend his title more? Why can't he win on his own"

Wasn't expecting SD to kick off with Road Dogg on commentary.

Dakota: Bayley, you made 1 mistake...not everyone in this ring is part of the new Damage CTRL.

*Bayleys life flashes before her eyes*

Dakota: Asuka! Because you haven't officially welcomed her into Damage CTRL.

Bayley just about had a "how come my names on this list" moment.

        Santos went there!

        "Dominik Mysterio was right!"

"I hope that surgery doesn't go successful and they have to amputate that leg!"

The most surprising part of heel Santos isn't even that he turned on Rey, we knew it would happen.

Surprising part is LDF is dead too.

I guess the Women's War Games is only 4 on 4 and not 5 on 5? That sucks but I get it, Dakota is still injured. So Bianca is asking Charlotte if she knows someone and Charlotte being the one to come up with someone. This would be a good spot for Jade, multi-person match that can slowly introduce her to the audience, plus it's in Chicago so the crowd would easily know her and cheer for her.

Just saying Nick Aldis, you know someone who could be the fourth member too and maybe you could help them out.

If not for Dakota's injury it probably would've been 5v5, or maybe it'd be 4v4 but Asukas turn waits until during Wargames.

They getting everyone ready for Cody/Roman II, little things here and there like the faceoff we had between Cody & Roman, and now tonight.

I get why Cody was there and helped LA Knight, it pushes the story for the rematch with Roman. Why would Charlotte be calling a RAW Superstar to help out? That whole brawl felt awkward, especially when Charlotte & Iyo just stood there for a bit before fighting, also Charlotte needs to stop doing the damn moonsault if she refuses to ever actually hit it correctly.

Hey, it’s not her fault that nobody ever really catches her. I can’t remember her ever being too short or too far on them either. She’s right there.

Says a lot about her athleticism that she lands on her feet as cleanly as she does from that height all the time.

WWE, when you break your own rules that you set, you lose me as a viewer.

Becky Lynch being the 5th women of Team Smackdown. When she is a member of RAW. So am I suppose to believe that its okay for her to join Team Smackdown when she is the NXT Women's Champion? Therefore she is supposedly allowed to go to whatever brand she feels like going to? No. I dont like this at all. There is no logic anymore behind all of this. And dont even try to come up with an excuse to back this excuse.

Let's not forget that Smackdown currently has no active Champion on the show. The Undisputed World Champion is gone. Probably until 2024. The US Champion? Its on a part time celebrity. I wonder when we will see him again. Perhaps 2024 as well. The Tag Team Titles? Can they please split back them onto its own entity again? Its only a gimmick for me now. A way to get a stable to appear onto another brand. When the company clearly makes up its own rules to allow a certain someone to appear anyways.

Becky's not even NXT women's champion anymore either.

I don't get why it's so hard for them to just stick to branded rosters. You have way more than enough talent to do this. I do feel like the plan was for Asuka to turn during Wargames but Dakota is still hurt so they had to settle for an early heel turn and then throw Becky into this match now.

She’s the fourth woman, not fifth. It’s not Team Smackdown. She lost the NXT Championship almost a month ago.

Did they lose you as a viewer before last night or something?

This. Plus she’s joining a team for a PLE…which always feature both brands. So even if you wanted to be hardcore strict about the branding rules there’s enough logical loopholes that it works.

You really just have to turn off your brain when it comes to any of those structures/rules, even when the commentators will shove them down your throat in a way that makes you think they really mean something. And people will always have excuse for it either way. If you are going to sit through 3 hours of Raw every week, that's the price you pay lol. If the entertainment value doesn't overcome that hurdle, you probably just don't like the show.

Rumors swirling that Raw could have a new theme song debuting as early as this week.

They've had the same song for 2 years, and no theme has stuck as the Raw theme song for more than 2 years since Nickelback from 09-12.

They gotta stop doing the "fresh coat of paint" fixes and get an actual song that's good and can stick.

They need ones that get you pumped up and has parts with no vocals they can use during the show too.

Could be nothing, but this is the seating chart for Raw tomorrow

That looks like the announce table setup by the stage....maybe we are getting a change?

I honestly wouldn't mind if they brought back one of the classic theme songs for RAW. I know WWE themselves and fans have made custom intros using today's superstars and old themes, needs something to get us hyped as you said.

That seating chart is for the first RAW in January 2024, interesting stage setup. Does moving the commentators mean an extra row of fans they can sit there or no? I would welcome the change if they moved the commentators up by the stage again.

Didn't realize the date, but interesting regardless.

First Raw of the new year would be a good time to make things look/feel different.

Given that commentators don't even look at the action anyways, there's not much point to them by ringside other than for table spots.

Though we've gotten so used to seeing the table at ringside, it's part of the traditional setup.

Maybe they're on the stage for TV but at ringside for PLEs or something (where we're more likely to see a table spot)?

They did briefly move the commentators over to the stage during the mid-late 10s.
