Chapter 3: Young Prospects
This will be a quick post, I only wanted to update my loyal followers (currently at eight). As you may already know. I have been drafted by the White Sox. Robert and Derek have also been drafted by Chicago, which creates a somewhat interesting situation. As you may expect life around here is rather hectic and has picked up since my brothers were told that they were going to be participating in the Arizona Fall League as members of The Scottsdale Scorpions. I will also be participating. Yep, I’m going to MJ’s team.
Chuck Finley along with other members of the Sox organization will be working personally with us over the course of this summer in preparation. To say the least I am very excited to have this opportunity even if it means being stuck with my brothers…Wish me luck, you may not hear from me for just awhile because according to Finley “life is about to become very difficult.”
P.S. Rumor has it that some kid named Bruce Parker will be joining us on the team. Bruce Parker…hmmm the name sounds familiar.Comment

This is great work, I'm usually not a fan of dynasties that are mostly text-based but this is excellent so far. Following for sure, keep up the great work.Comment

Re: Jacob Caine: His long Road to the Show
Chapter 3.1: A fine line.
Inches, that’s all that separates greatness from failure, that’s all that separates safe at the plate and out by a step. Those final inches that make you a legend or leave you short of the walk off homerun. I’m playing a game of inches here and I’m already coming up short.
It has been so long since I’ve posted, but things have been rough. Fall League has opened my eyes to what I’m going to have to face day in and day out in the minors, prospects that are hungry to succeed. Truthfully I’m feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment. The guys that I have faced seem to be on a whole other level. And it is not for lack of effort, I was the first in the cages and the last off the field every day…things are just rough.
I started most games, I made some great plays, you know? But I’ve had some horrible performances. I’ve went 0-4, I’ve made dumb fielding errors, missed bunts. I contributed, the team did great and I was a part of that but that is besides the point. I’ve looked over this site and read the other prospects blogs and their all great, that’s why they post, isn’t it? Because they are succeeding, they love to tell of their trumpets and great plays. That is all you ever hear about, that is all you ever see and by god it is rough to watch and struggle through every day. And it isn’t even on the field where things are hard.
I know it has nothing to do with baseball, but it is so lonely around here. I’ve tried making friends but nothing clicks. I’m a younger guy and most of the guys down here have more experience then me so I end up being the odd man out. My brothers fit in just fine but they are highly thought of prospects. Derek may have fallen in the draft but everyone knows who he is.
The free time that I did have was often spent wondering how I’m going to make it through. No one to talk to makes it even worse. I just need some help. Mr. Finely has been the closest thing to a friend around here, he has been working with me, but every second of my life can’t be about baseball.
The season wrapped up today, and I had hoped that it means I could have some free time just for a bit, but Mr. Finely has asked for me to spend a few more weeks with him in Chicago before I return home. I mean it is just hard, you know? Expectation and failure. Homerun and strikeout. Everything is on a fine line just inches apart from each other.
Here are the final stats. My brothers turned heads…congrats to them. Here are a few quotes about them from local papers and scouts.
Robert Caine shows all the promise of a future all star- Adam Helmsing for bleacher report.com
He (Robert Caine) has showed that his potential is unmatched, his ability to work batters was second to none over the season- AL Scout
Derek Caine leads team to 6-0 win- Local newspaper headline
Caine (Jacob) had a rough Fall League, he may have been drafted too early in the and shows the least amount of potential between his brothers- Espn Analyst

Chapter 3.2: Who dat? Me dat.
Official word has come down, seriously I called in to ensure that it was not my brother pulling a prank. I am now a member of the Birmingham Barons….I know, right…who and where is that? All that aside I can’t describe how happy I am to finally be back to baseball, especially after a disappointing fall league. Both Robert and Derek are members of Chicago’s AAA system, Charlotte K.nights. I believe both of them are locked in as starters. Currently I’m riding the pine and have no HOF potential…
That’s me folks…Don’t I look like a future All Star? Wow, I’m so excited…the season starts soon, no matter how bad it has started this journey is going to end well. I wish I could add more but I have to pack the rest of my socks.Comment
