Yeah! If I continue this I may be looking at a bullpen boost at the deadline, exciting start for the Cubs!

Re: Chicago Cubs: Time to Break that Curse

Being a huge Cubs fan and M's fan, I made a deal in my Franchise trading F. Guiterrez to the Cubs to platoon with Dejesus in CF. Then traded Soriano and Hairston to the Giants at the Deadline. So now I have Jackson in LF, Solar in RF and Amonte in AAA ready to take over CF next year.

I am pretty excited about the future of the Cubs.

You figure with those 3 in the OF, hopefully Bryant one day at 3B or Baez and Bryant in the OF taking over for whatever of the 3 don't become solid MLB players. Rizzo,Barney,Castro we have a pretty solid young team. I rather see us keep Garza if he could ever stay healthy and find another LHP to go with Wood in the rotation.

So yeah bullpen is our weak spot. Good luck....

LOL the CPU was high at my draft as Bryant fell to me at 9 lmao. I had to make up some steroids scandal to make it seem a bit real that I drafted him. Cant wait until September to get him up to try out

Soler is already great and Jackson is developing, Almora on my bench currently just so he can improve a little bit more. Looking to put Baez at third, I wanted to keep Garza but I couldn't turn down Allen Webster, Brentz and Britton, I have a lot of SP depth which will help a lot in the bullpen now. I think I have 8-9 guys who are SPs I can convert to RPs, luckily most of them have a knockout pitch as well! Wood was the only guy who turned down my offer sadly, but I had to rebound and grab some other guys, Salty was huge in our offseason so looking to get that bullpen better! I'll be posting a couple more series later today! Thanks for the good luck!

I think you'll like Scott Baker. He never has the flashiest stuff but he always got the job done for me.

I anxiously await rants when Carlos Marmol starts blowing leads

"Hello everyone, this is Sam King here with baseball analyst Carlos Stewert!" "Welcome Carlos! What do you think is going to happen in this Cubs series? Seems like it'll be exciting!"
"Hello Sam and thank you, and it will be exciting indeed. We have Villanueva taking the mound first who has been dominate against struggling Wheeler. I think the Cubs hitting performs well like always and they pull that one out. Game 2 I think Edwin Jackson may pull it together and pitch well but I think they end up losing 2-1. I think then game 3 is a toss up with Webster and ex-cub Wood."
"Carlos, what do you think of stuggling Willie Bloomquist? Aquired in the offseason to play 3B and be a utility man, he is batting below .150?"
"I think he approaches this like a normal game and finally forgets he is batting below the Mendoza line. I think he pulls it together and bats somewhere around .275-.300 in the series."
"Thanks for reporting Carlos! Have a good one!"
                "You too Sam!"
"STAY TUNED FOR MORE, WE'LL BE RIGHT BACK!"

The Cubs had an early 7-0 lead and it looked like they were set, then the 7th, 8th and 9th went bam. Backtracking.....

The Cubs hitting was dominant. Bloomquist woke up going 3/4 with a triple while Rizzo was 3/4 with two HRs and a Double. Soler did well by hitting a double, as well as fellow OFer Brett Jackson. Castro was 3/4 and is doing great in the leadoff spot. Barney hasn't been anything special, but did have the game winning hit.

The mets tied with a bunch of extra base hits. But here is how the crazy 9th went.

Carlos Marmol on the mound.... two outs... and the Mets are alive as they have a single... now a double by D'ARNAUD and that scores one! RUN BALL GAME! Kirk up... SINGLE, IT'S TIED. Rondon then comes in and makes the final out.

Bottem 9th. Bloomquist grounds out. Jackson singles and their alive! Rondon now being pinch hit for by Almora... BASE HIT! JACKSON GOES TO THIRD... ALMORA GETS TO 2ND! CUBS ARE ALIVE! Castro now up... 3/3 on the day... Castro grounds to first... they don't go to home they go to first! Castro is out but it is now tied! Barney now up... he is 0-4 on the day... Barney now down 0-2... the pitch... BARNEY LINES IT TO LEFT! GAME WINNER! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! UNBELIEVABLE! MARMOL BLOWS IT, THEN PARNELL BLOWS IT! THE CUBS ARE OUT FOR TO BREAK THE CURSE!

Sorry for the lack of posts everyone! Unfortunetly I found out last Monday I won't have much time to post on here! Leaving me only weekends for the next 4-5 weeks. I'll make a ton of posts on the weekend to make it up to you guys though. In 4-5 weeks I will likely have more time and will be able to post on week days!

It was pretty much like this:

                      First 9 innings: Boring

                      14th, 16th, 17th innings: FUN!

Inning 14: What a game it's been. Stikes the first man up. Walks D'Arnaud. Ankiel comes up. WOOSH! STRIKE ONE! WOOSH! STRIKE TWO! WOOSH! HOME RUN! Was that AB... announcers version... "DEEP... DEEP! ANKIEL! A TWO RUN SHOT! HE HAS PUT THE GAME OUT OF REACH-- UNBELIEVABLE!" Inning ends with an two outs.

Bottom 14th: Castro... base hit! Barney.. hit! Rizzo... BASE HIT! CASTRO SCORES-- TIE GAME! TIE GAME! Then a DP and an out end the inning.

Inning 16: I'd rather not talk about how I didn't take Marmol out after walking someone and giving up 3 singles. Yeah, it was pretty nasty okay...

Inning 16: Bottom half(this was awesome!) To lead it off, Rizzo grounded out. Salty singles but Soler stikes out. Now George Springer is up, he had his first major league hit an inning ago (leadoff double, couldn't score though). 2 outs, Springer swings at two pitches in the dirt... next pitch... "SPRINGER, THATS A DRIVE... DEEP DEEP... NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, THATS GONE! IT'S A DOUBLE DECKER FOR SPRINGER! HOLY SMOKES!" Was the announcers. Me...: YES SPRINGER! Then I jump up and down! Bloomquist then grounds out.

Inning 17: Jackson leads off... first pitch high fastball. Jackson... it's deep... looks like it's not gonna make it ov- HOME RUN! WALKOFF! BRETT JACKSON! AFTER 17 INNINGS! He got the win last game but gave up 2 runs through 3.2 and gave up runs in the first game of the mets series. You happy D:

That is exactly why I can't do a 'chise with the Cubs. Carlos "Blown Save" Marmol.

But good luck breaking the curse! Maybe trade for some billy goats!

While I'm a Cardinals fan, and can't stand most Cubs fans (why do I live in Illinois? ), I'll be following this one for sure. Nice start to the season. Your offense has been pretty nice.
