    M'S TAKES 3 FROM THE O'S

    Game 1

The M's scored 2 in the 6th to take the lead (3-2) and then added 5 runs in the 7th, as Corey Hart clears the bases with his 2nd HR of the game.

Up (8-2), rookie D. Leone in relief of Iwakuma (6 1/3 6 hits 2 runs 4 K's) gives up a grand slam to former M's Adam Jones to make the game (8-6) but the M's answer back with t a run in the bottom of the 8th to win the game (9-6)

Iwakuma picked up just his 2nd "W" of the season, well F. Rodney came in and closed out the 9th for his 35th save of the year.

At the Plate, Hart was named POG for his 2/3 2 HR's 3 Runs 4 RBI's. but D. Ackley also had a great day gong 3/5 with 3 runs scored hitting out of the #2 hole.

    Game 2

Seattle scores 3 runs in the 3rd off a Kyle Seager moon shot, but all the O's manage is a solo HR by C. Davis in the 7th as they fall (3-1)

King Felix was dominating giving up just 5 hits over 8 IP with the lone run well striking out 7.

Rodney pitched the 9th for his 36th save.

    Game 3

Baltimore broke a scoreless game in the 10th as N. Cruz hit a pinch hit double to make it (1-0) off S. Pryor who took the loss. D. Leone came in and got the final 3 outs but the M's didn't even manage a baserunner inthe bottom of the 10th off CP T. Hunter (28 saves)

Rookie J. Paxton pitched great in the no-decision going 8 IP giving up just 6 hits well striking out 6.

    Game 4

The M's put 4 on the scoreboard in the 1st and that was all SP C. Young needed to pick up his 13th win of the season as the M's win (6-2)

Young went 8 IP strong giving up the 2 runs on 6 hits wells striking out 7. He is now 13-4 with a 3.00 ERA on the season.

At the Plate, both C. Hart and J. Willingham went 3/4 with 1 RBI a piece, well D. Ackley hitting #2 again went 2/4 with 2 runs scored and added a RBI, well K. Seager finished 2/4 with 3 RBI.

Seattle now has a day off before finishing the month of July with a 3 game road trip to Cleveland

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)

With the MLB Trade Deadline just 4 days away, GM's across the league have been busy on the phones, buying and selling as their teams look to either make a playoff push or deal away in a rebuild for prospects.

Here is a look at the trades so far.

      &

So far this is the biggest blockbuster trade of the season, with 9 players involved.

Boston is currently (56-49) 8.5 GB of the Blue Jays in the AL East but are tied with the Texas Rangers for the AL WC.

Today Boston cleaned out a large portion of their farm system dealing 6 prospects including 3 of their Top-10 (#6,#9,and #10) to the Arizona D-Backs

Coming to Boston in the deal is All-Star Catcher M. Montero (78C) who is hitting .288 with 11 HR's and 45 RBI, 3B/OF M. Prado (79C) who his hitting .289 wiht 2 HR and 13 RBI in 242 AB's, and former CP JJ Putz (79/A) who has posted a 2.50 ERA in 50 IP.

      In return Arizona get's

      (68/B) SP M. Barnes- 8-7 with a 3.52 ERA-AAA (#6 on the Top-20)
      (68/C) SP D. Britton-8-5 with a 2.79 ERA-AAA
      (69/C) RP R. De La Rosa- 2-4 with a 2.27 ERA in 75 IP-AA
      (65/B) C C. Vazquez- .254 4 HR 33 RBI-AAA (#10 in the Top-20)
      (61/C) IF S. Croyle-.246 10 HR 55 RBI 13 SB's-AA
      (53/B) OF M. Margot-N/A Stats in Single A (#9 in the Top-20)

For Boston, Montero gives them a everyday catcher which AJ Pierzynski was unable to do (.230 7 HR 32 RBI) for the next 3 seasons until top prospect Blake Swihart is ready to take over. Prado gives them a 3B for the rest of the year with W. Middlebrooks out for the year and Putz gives them a solid late inning RP in the last year of his deal. Prado signed for 2 more years will likely move to the OF next season with the return of Middlebrooks replacing either J. Gomes or S. Victorino

For Arizona, they get a solid middle of the rotation SP in Barnes, a young catcher in Vasquez, a potential starter in CF in a year or 2 in Magot as well as solid arms in De La Rosa and Britton who project as #5 type SP's or bullpen arms, as well as Coyle who likely will play 2B at the MLB level

Rumors are that Arizona is still in the market to trade 2B A. Hill with a return to Toronto likely

      &

The Dodgers today filled a huge hole at 3B acquiring P. Alvarez (85/B) who was hitting .244 with 19 HR's and 59 RBI, as the current platoon of J. Uribe (.268 8 HR's) and C. Figgins (.269 3 HR's) was not getting the job done.

L.A. is currently in a dog fight in the NL West standings tied with San Diego and just 1.5 games up of the Rockies and 4 games up on the Giants, well tied with the Cardinals and Padres for the NL WC as well.

Going back to Pittsburgh in the deal are 2 of the Dodgers Top-10 prospects.

Once the #1 prospect in the system, RHP SP Z. Lee (69/B) is now #4 and is currently 8-6 with a 3.38 ERA in 22 games at AAA. RHP SP R. Stripling (65/B) is currently ranked #9 on the Top-20 and was 7-6 with a 2.92 ERA in AA

With the additions of Lee and Stripling along with G. Cole and J. Taillon the Pirates have built quite a a future rotation.

The Pirates are expected to be trading C Russell Martin as well as LHP SP F. Liriano before the trade deadline

      & &

Thought to bring back 2B A. Hill to Toronto the Blue Jays instead dealt with the White Sox acquiring 2B G. Beckham (72/B) hitting .273 with 8 HR and 40 RBI). Going to Chicago in the deal is Toronto's #13 prospect SP T. Robson (55/B). Robson was a 4th round pick in 2013.

The Blue Jay's also shored up their catching position today as well as added a veteran OF with J. Bautista currently on the DL.

Coming north of the border will be C. R. Martin (83/B) hitting .274 with 8 HR and 41 RBI) as well as OF T. Snider (68/C).

      In return Pittsburgh adds 27 yr old AAA C J. Thole (67/C) hitting.303 4 HR 23 RBI), 19 yr old AA IF D. Lugo (62/B) hitting .231 with 3 HR 32 RBI 4 SB's and 19 yr old AA OF DJ Davis (57/B) hitting .282 with 2 HR 17 RBI and 7 SB's.

Davis was rated #4 and Lugo was rated #8 on the Blue Jays Top-10. Both players will stay in AA for the Pirates well Thole will report to Pittsburgh and likely take over the catching duties for the rest of the season.

I am not done making deals, but I am taking a break to go have lunch and watch the new Planet of the Apes movie with some friends.

Hope those following enjoy the the deals. The Boston deal might get edited as some people in the trade forums thought adding Margot was to much so I might be changing it to another SP like Kukek or Callahan

Re: The King and his Diamond Table-A Seattle M's Franchise (MLB14-PS3)

We have already seen several deals go down today reported on Sportscenter. Now we learn via MLB Trade Rumors, that these trades are no longer rumors but have actually gone done.

It's already been announced that the Pirates have made 2 deals via the Dodgers and Blue Jays', Now Pittsburgh GM N. Huntington is at it again.

After dealing for 2 future starters in Z. Lee and R. Stripling he is now dealing part of his current staff away.

LHP F. Liriano (83/B) currently 8-4 with a 3.28 ERA is headed back to the AL Central where he spent time as a Minnesota Twin and a Chicago White Sox.

Only this time he will be a Detroit Tiger.

Going back to Pittsburgh in the deal are 3 players with 2 of them on the Tigers Top-20.

#9 IF Hernan Perez (66/C) hit .301 last season in AAA well enough to get a Sept callup and make the Tigers post-season roster. A SS early in his career Perez has spent most of the season at 2B at AAA where he has taken a huge step back hitting just .224 with 5 HR and 35 RBI

#14 RHP SP Endrys Briceno (63/C) who is currently 5-5 with a 3.20 ERA in AA

but the player who could turn this into a big win for the Pirates is 23 yr old RP Bruce Rondon (63/B). Once a Top-5 prospect (in 2012) Rondon had future CP written all over him, but after saving 14 games in AAA, Rondon got the call to Detroit where he logged 28 IP going 1-2 with 1 save before being shutdown with a injury. Since returning from injury he is 0-4 with 4 saves and a 4.29 ERA in 35 IP in AAA.

Joining Liriano in Detroit will be fellow lefty RP T. Watson (77/C). Watson was 3-0 with a 2.21 ERA in 46 IP in the Pirates bullpen. He is expected to take the place of P. Coke who currently has a 6.00 ERA in 27 IP.

The Tigers didn't stop with just acquiring F. Liriano and Watson. They also went after filling a huge hole in the OF where the combo of A. Dirks and R. Davis have been unable to hold down LF.

Detroit stayed in the AL Central where they made a deal with the Chicago Whitesox acquiring Dayan "The Tank" Viciedo (78/B) who was hitting .200 but with 11 HR's.

In exchange the Pale Hose will receive another Tiger Top-20 prospect.

IF E. Surarez (68/C) is rated #6 on the Tigers board. He signed with the Tigers in 2008 spending his first 2 summers playing in the Venezuelan Summer League before coming to the states in 2011 where he climbed though the ranks playing well enough that the Tigers put him on the 40 man rosters in 2013. He started the year in AA but moved up to AAA where he was hitting .268 with 8 HR 38 RBI and 16 SB's.

With current SS A. Ramirez expected to be traded, it's likely that Suarez will finish the season in a White Sox uniform.

Coming along in the deal is AA RHP SP W. Saupold (60/C) who has posted a 2.44 ERA in 59 IP of relief.

When GM's took to trade aging veterans when their team is tanking, the hopes are to trade high well that said player is in the mist of a solid season, moving them to a contender looking for that extra playoff push.

For Kenny Williams and R. Hahn that didn't happen in Chicago. (Trade Spreadsheet says Ramirez should be worth a Mid B, Low B, High C and De Aza is worth a a Low B)

SS A. Ramirez (84/B) put up double digit HR's when he arrived in Chicago in 2008 finishing the year with 21. He continued to hit for power for the next 3 seasons but in 2012 saw that # drop to just 9, then 6 in 2013 and now this season he has hit just 5 well batting .237 with 35 RBI.

OF A. De Aza (78/C) finished 2013 with 17 HR's and 20 SB's to go with a .264 BA, but this year well his BA is up to .284 and he does have 16 SB's his HR total is at 9.

Today both players are headed to the Bay area where San Francisco Giant fans hope they will help close the 4 game cap between their team and the Dodgers and Padres in the NL West.

For Chicago they will receive just 2 players but both players are in the Giants Top-20 and will fill big needs for the White Sox moving forward.

#14 2B/SS Joe Pank (59/B) was a surprising 1st Round pick in 2011 (29th). He moved quickly through the minors hitting over .290 in 2012 but took a step back in 2013 hitting just .257 and now this season is hitting just .247 with 2 HR and 23 RBI. However he if he can turn things around he still has potential to be a serviceable utility man at the MLB level.

#11 RHP RP/CP Heath Hembree (61/C) missed his senior year of high school and pitched just 74 IP at 3 different colleges which lead to him being a 5th round pick in 2010, but his high 90's fastball has moved him though the ranks quickly many Giant scouts felt like he had the potential to one day be a replacement for S. Romo in the CP role. Now he will get the chance to maybe fill that role in Chicago with A. Reed traded to Arizona in the off-season and M. Linstrom (5.00 ERA with 27 saves) struggling this season.

More trades coming........ With Texas, Colorado, KC, Atlanta, St Louis and the Phillies and the Nationals all making deals.

Hey, I recognize some of these deals :-)

P.S. If you don't get Vanslyke to Seattle, I'm not reading anymore. What a story it will make when he makes the playoff squad and wins a series with a walkoff!

If you are a baseball fan and your team is one of the many teams still in the hunt for a spot in the 2014 playoffs, then your internet bookmark's are probably full MLB Trade Rumors, the MLB.com, ESPN and MLB Dailey Dish on Sports Nation.

We have already seen close to 10 deals and now we know that at least 7 more deals have gone down.

The Braves have been in 1st place pretty much since the season started and now on July 25th they still are still there, but that gap is just a 3.5 games as the Philly's look to make one last ditch effort to take them over.

Well the Braves deal for LHB OF R. Sweeney(67/D), RHP SP/RP C. Villanueva(68/D) and LHP RP W. Wright (74/C), look sexy on paper, all 3 will play a valuable role in the month of August and Sept. Sweeney will take over the #4 OF role and lefty off the bench for the struggling J. Schaffer (.196), Villanueva wil take A. Harang spot on the 25 man roster (DNF after he was 0-3 with a ERA in the 7's) and Wright will once again use his Loggy role to pitch for a playoff team (dealt to Tampa by Houston to fill the same need last year)

In return Chicago will receive RHP SP David Hale (73/C) who is 8-6 with a 4.00 ERA in AAA and AAA RHP RP P. Beaton (68/C) who was 4-3 with a 2.69 ERA in 63 IP.

              &

The Phillies and Nationals both have come out and announced they are moving forward with their current roster with possible help coming via AAA, as neither GM is going to make a move.

One rumor was both teams were targeting a inter-division trade with the Mets for SP B. Colon (8-7 2.93 ERA) but are balking at the Mets high level prospect in return.

The St Louis Cardinals are 5.5 GB of the Reds in the NL Central but at (59-46) they are currently tied with both the Dodgers and Padres for the NL #1 WC spot.

With a pitching staff loaded with talent and ready for the playoffs, the Cardinals biggest need is 2B where M. Ellis was hitting .240 with 5 HR and 32 RBI a #4/#5 OF and a Loggy for the pen

With K. Wong not ready to take over their only other option was to either trade for a 2B or a 3B and move M. Carpenter over to 2B.

Today they went with the later, as they acquire 3B G. Dobbs (62/C) who was hitting .269 with 12 HR and 53 RBI for the Marlins.

The Cards also filled their other 2 needs as well trading for OF B. Boguesvic (72/C) who was hitting .270 with 10 HR 50 RBI and 14 SB's in AAA, and LHP RP M. Dunn (76/C) who was 3-2 with a 3.07 ERA in 55 IP.

Heading back to South Beach is 24 yr old 2B S. Rodriguez (68/C) and RHP CP J. Swagerty (68C) who had 27 saves in AA

For Miami it's another veteran for youth trade dump but both players could fill major needs as early as 2015 for the Fish, as Rodriguez will likely get a chance to win the 2B job and Swagerty could be a late inning guy.

Fighting to keep their 1.5 game lead on the Tigers in the AL Central, the Royals made 2 deals today to help them do that.

Looking to improve their rotation they dealt for Brewers M. Estrada (78/B) who was 9-6 with a 3.59 ERA in 21 games.

Going back to Milwaukee in the deal were 23 yr old LHP SP John Lamb (67/C) who was 12-3 with a 2.84 ERA and 19 yr old OF E. Hernandez (56/C)

Hernandez originally signed in 2011 as a top international prospect getting 3 million from the Royals. Rated as the #10 prospect in the Royals farm system, Hernandez was playing Single A ball at the time of the trade.

Originally rumors had KC working out a deal with Arizona to bring in 2B A. Hill and SP B. Arroyo, but with Hill being owed over 9 million this season and the D-Backs not wanting to pay any of the remaining money, the Royals quickly turned their attentions elsewhere.

With the Yankees out of the hunt they were excited to be able to deal vet IF K. Johnson (74/C) in the last year of his contract. Hitting .308 with 9 HR and 36 RBI, Johnson will likely take over the starting 2B job from O. Infante who has been a huge F.A. bust (.226 with 1 HR)

Going back in the deal to NY is 23 yr old 2B J. Trapp (67/C) who was hitting .279 with 5 HR 36 RBI and 13 SB's in AA.

Earlier in the month the Oakland A's, Los Angels Halo's and the Seattle Mariners all made moves to improve their ball clubs, well Texas stayed with their current 25 man roster.

              Today that changed.

              The Rangers acquire 1B/OF G. Jones (75/C, .251 17 HR 59 RBI) and IF D. Solano (75/C, .287 7 HR 32 RBI)

              In return the Fish acquired 19 yr old 1B Ronald Guzman (61/C, .327 with 3 HR 14 RBI in 52 AA AB's) RHP SP/RP W. Font (63/C, 8-2 with a 4.19 ERA in AAA) and RHP RP L. Bonilla (67/C, 4-4 with a 2.66 ERA in AAA).

The Rockies are in the hunt for a playoff spot. When's the last time you thought that would happen!!

Well today they showed their commitment as they trade 2011 1st Round pick (#45) and Top-10 prospect #9 Trevor Story (72/B) New York Mets for SP Dillion Gee (77/B) who was a double digit winner in 2011 and 2013 and is currently 4-1 with a 2.41 ERA and

The Rockies will also receive CP B. Parnell (80/B, 4.45 ERA but has 32 saves and is holding batters to a .164 vs LHH)

Well the Mets will get a pair of prospects in 26 yr old OF T. Wheeler (65/C, .253 with 6 HR 25 RBI 11 SB's) as well as 21 yr old LHP SP/RP J. Aquino (67/C, 6-7 with a 2.46 ERA in AAA)

Thanks for checking in. I have been trying my but to bounce trade ideas off the trade forum thread, but after posting so many I figured I just need to make some on my own thoughts as well. It's hard running 30 team control and feeling like you need to be fair to every team in contention by trying to improve their teams.

Unlike real life, it's been a very busy trade deadline for my Franchise.

I am working on 2 last deals for the M's with 1 of them including Van Slyke, but the real life rumors had Y. Medina going to the Dodgers, but he has 7 days left on my DL with a head concussion so I can't deal him. Guess I will have to work something else out.

M'S LOOK TO UPGRADE THEIR BENCH

For the 3rd time this season, GM Ryne "The Deuce" Scott has made a trade looking to improve his team as the M's look to lock up the AL West with a strong August showing.

Today it was announced he made 2 deals

After releasing veteran C J. Buck last week, Jesus Sucre was promoted to "The Show" but after going 1/9 last week and a injury to AAA starter J. Hicks, Sucre is headed back to Tacoma.

Replacing him will be 12 year vet Gerald Laird (64/C). Laird is no stranger to the AL West where he spent his first 6 years of his career as a member of the Texas Rangers. For the past 2 seasons Laird has been serving as a 3rd string Catcher with the Atlanta Braves tutoring youngsters like E. Gattis and C. Bethancourt.

Going to Atlanta in the deal where AA OF J. Austin (62/C) and AA SS G. Noriega (67/D).

Austin played his high school ball in Georgia and will be returning home. At the time of the trade Austin was hitting .282 with 2 HR 25 RBI and 8 SB’s at AA.

Noriega once a Top-20 prospect for the M’s has fallen behind the likes of B. Miller, N. Franklin, C. Taylor and K. Matre, but so far this season is hitting .271 with 28 RBI in AA

So what all the fuss about a 34 yr old catcher coming to the Northwest? Well the fact that Laird is currently hitting .402 in 82 AB's is why.

Well Trade #1 is worthy of getting excited about, Trade #2 has M's fans as well as the coaching staff even more excited. Rumored for weeks the deal is finally done.

1B/OF Scott Van Slyke (68/C) is coming north to play for his Dad Andy.

Currently hitting .278 with 15 HR's and 63 RBI's in AAA, the younger Van Slyke who hits from the right side (.291 vs LHP) will come straight to Seattle where is expected to play some 1B as well as some LF.

With Van Slyke on the 25 man roster, OF M. Saunders (.248 5 HR 19 RBI) will be optioned back to Tacoma.

Going to L.A. in the deal is former Dodger's Leon Landry (63/C) who was a 3rd round pick by the Dodgers originally and was acquired in the B. League deal. Landry was hitting .251 in AA. Also going to Hollywood will be RP Logan Bawcom (69/C) a 17th round pick in 2010 by LAD. Once a CP at AAA Tacoma (2013-21 saves), Bawcom was currently being used in the 8th IP and was 3-4 with 1 save and a 3.63 ERA in 52 IP.

                    Deuce
"Originally the deal was going to be Scott for Y. Medina, but with Medina on the D.L. we had to find different players that the Dodgers were interested in. Lucky for us both Bawcom and Landry both started out in their farm systems and there were guy's who still believed they could be valuable assets to their system"

I just went a different direction. If the trade goes down in real life, I might change the players later on to correspond with who was really dealt. If not then I will chalk it up as a deal the M's should of made

I rather them go after Van Slyke then Byrd. Byrd's is old(36) and cost a lot of money and I think would cost us more in prospects. Van Slyke has the potential to give us a platoon at 1B with Morrison or could play in the OF and 27 still has a future and I think could be had cheaper. He is blocked by the Dodgers current 4 OF issue plus has Joc Pederson ahead of him as well should Kemp/Crawford or Either ever be dealt.

M'S SWEEP INDIANS TO CLOSE OUT JULY

With a 3 game sweep of the Tribe the Mariners close out the Month of July having won 11 of 13 games since the All-Star break and went 19-6 for the month, as they are now (63-45 Overall) and have extended their lead to 7 games in the AL West over the Texas Rangers.

However we will get to monthly recap stuff in our next post. For now let's take a look back at what happened in the 3 game series in Cleveland.

                          Game 1 *Played*

Taijuan Walker made his 3rd start and won yet again improving to 3-0 well lowering his ERA to 3.72 after giving up just 1 run on 4 hits and 4 BB's in 6 IP. He also struck out 4.

                          J. Beimel pitched 1 2/3 of no hit ball striking out 2 well D. Leone pitched the final 1 1/3 to record his 2nd save.

At the Plate the M's took a early 2-0 lead as D. Ackley lead off the game with a single and scored on a RBI triple by SS B. Miller. Miller then scored on a sac by R. Cano who was making his first start since returning from the D.L. Cano finished 1/4 on the day.

The M's then added 4 more runs in the top of the 9th off Indians RP (Rzepczynski) including a pinch hit 2 run single by T. Plouffe.

                          G. Laird started behind the plate but went 0-3 in his Mariner debut well S. Van Slyke started in RF and finished 1/4.

                          Game 2 *Simmed*

The M's dominated putting 11 runs on the scoreboard (11-1) well SP H. Iwakuma pitched a complete game giving up 1 run on 4 hits to improve to 3-3 on the year.

                          At the Plate

                          E. Bonifacio went 4/5 with 2 runs scored, drove in a run and had a SB.

                          G. Laird came up huge going 3/4 with 2 doubles driving in 2 runs well T. Plouffe starting at SS for Miller hit a bases load double clearing the bases for 3 RBI's.

                          R. Cano went 2/4 in his 2nd game back and also drove in 2.

                          Game 3 *Simmed*

Again the M's got on the scoreboard early putting up 3 in the 1st and added 1 more in the 2nd to spot King Felix with a 4-0 lead. That's all it would take as Hernandez improves to 13-3 on the year going 8 IP giving up 2 runs on 6 hits well striking out 6. J. Russell pitched the 9th in a non-save situation as the M's win (6-2).

At the Plate, J. Willingham had his best day as a Mariner going 4/4 including 3 doubles with 3 RBI's and K. Seager hit a 2 run HR , well Cano finished 2/5 with a run scored.

                          G. Laird made his 3rd straight start behind the plate and finished the day 0/3 with 1 BB and 1 SO.

UP NEXT JULY RECAP/AROUND THE LEAGUE REPORT AND DOWN ON THE FARM REPORT.

He is one named mentioned in real life trade discussions I hope they do bring in. I think he has the potential to play RF or 1B if we decide to finally give up on Smoak.

Hopefully making the deal here will help Jack make it in real life.

Very impressive how you analyze each team and make the trades yourself that will benefit them the most as the season winds down. I couldn't imagine doing all of that lol Good luck the rest of the way!

                                Thanks.

The the trade thread is a great tool to bounce ideas off people and the spread sheet gives you a nice value for each player so it's a big help too. But I feel it's important moving forward to try and keep things even across the board for everyone. Hopefully for teams like the White Sox, Pirates, Cubs, Astros and Twins it will mean one day they won't be in the cellar's of their divisions.
