    GENERALS WIN SOUTHERN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!

The Seattle Mariners AA Farm team, the Jackson Generals have won the 2014 Southern League Championship in 4 games over the Montgomery Biscuits.

Here is a recap of the 4 game series.

    Game 1 (Win 4-3 in 10)

Xaiver Avery comes up huge with a 3/5 day at the plate including a triple which leads to a the game winning run. Guillmero Pimental was the DH and making his first appearance in the playoffs hits a 2-run HR to lead the offense.

On the Mound, V. Sanchez goes 7 IP giving up 2 runs on 6 hits well striking out 7, but he gets a no decision as the M's win it in the Top of the 10th

    S. Kohlscheen picks up the "W" as he finishes out the game after CP E. Pagan blew the save in the 9th.

    Game 2 (Win 6-3)

Gabby Guerrero and Tyler O'Neill both hit solo HR's well J. Marder goes 3/4 with a run scored to help lead the offense.

On the Mound T. Pike gets the "W" pitching 6 1/3 IP giving up 3 runs on 5 hits and 4 BB's well striking out 4.

Pagan rebounds from blowing the save the night earlier with a perfect 9th getting his 2nd save of the playoffs.

Tampa Bay's #2 prospect T. Guerrieri picks up the loss as he goes 5 IP giving up 4 runs (2 ER) on 9 hits well striking out 4.

    Game 3 (Lost 13-0)

Maybe E. Diaz should've stuck to AAA. Diaz making his first start since returning from AAA to help the Generals in the playoffs instead has a tough day at the office going just 5 IP giving up 4 runs (3 ER) on 2 hits and 3 BB's. However his bad day was topped by the Generals Bullpen performance.

    S. Kohlscheen came in and pitched 2 IP giving up 5 runs on 6 hits, well J. Mijares pitched the final 2 IP giving up 4 runs on just 1 hit well walking 4 batters and striking out 3.

The Biscuits were led at the plate by #8 prospect R. Brett who went 1/4 with 3 RBI, #15 prospect R. Unroe who was 2/4 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI and #20 prospect K. Wong who was 2/4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI

Dylan Floro picked up the "W" his 3rd of the playoffs with a complete game 6 hitter striking out 11 batters. His ERA for the playoff is 0.68 (Pretty solid for a 73/C rated prospect who is 22 yrs old)

    Game 4 (Win 2-1 in 10

DJ Peterson starting at 1B comes up big with a double in the 10th that leads to the scoring the game winning run. Peterson also scored the earlier run that tied the game in the 4th.

    X. Avery was the hero driving in both runs despite finishing the day 0/2 at the plate.

    S. Landazuri considered to be the M's #29 best prospect according to Mariner Brainstorm.com pitched 7 IP giving up the 1 run on 6 hits well striking out 5, but he gets a ND.

    J. Arias pitched both the 9th and 10th as he picks up the "W"

Doubt it will be me. Seems like 2 of 3 has become my norm so with 14 games left it would be impossible. Even if I played all 14, I don't think I could win 11 as I typically seem to have a similar record in games played (2 of 3).

The Rockies could do it. They play their next 3 at home vs the Dodgers but face Kershaw (17-5) and Greinke (14-7), but then they play 4 games at home vs Arizona. They then finish up with 6 games on the road (3 @ SD and 3 @ LAD). My guess is it will come down to the final 3 games and the pitching matchups.

It's crazy when I made the deal with the Mets for Gee and Parnell I figured Gee would make the bigger impact, but Parnell has been on fire and now has 50 saves out of 53 and has lowered his ERA to 2.94

I know we are all sadden by the loss of WTNY's I wish I had his excell and picture skills, however I am still playing on PS3, and Excell was never something I really have spent much time on because none of my jobs have required it, so I just stick to my old school posting of series recaps with lots of info on minor league stuff and monthy recaps of what's going on around the league.

Maybe someday I will step up and become a picture guy when I move to the PS4.

              THE QUEST FOR 100

The M' made a huge move toward 100 wins as they broke away from their 2 of 3 pattern by taking 3 of 4 from the Angels to start their 11 game road trip, but with 10 games left and the M's need 8 more "W''s, the brooms must come out at some point. Stay tune to fine out...

Until then here is a recap of what happened over the past 4 games.

              Game 1 (M's win 6-4 *Played*)

On the Mound, Rookie J. Paxton went out looking to get 1 game closer to .500 on the year by picking up the "W" with 6 IP giving up 3 runs on 6 hits well walking 3. With the win, Paxton is now (9-10) and has lowered his ERA to 3.89 on the season.

The Bullpen did their job as Leone pitched the 7th, Farquhar (1/3) and Russell (2/3) shared the 8th and F. "The Arrow" Rodney pitched the 9th for his 46th save of the year.

At the Plate, Corey Hart continues his push for the A.L. MVP as he goes 3/5 hitting including a 3-run HR to lead the way.

              E. Bonifacio added a 3/5 2 runs scored 2-run HR as well and D. Ackley went 2/3 with a run scored raising his season average to .265

              Game 2 (M's lose 3-1)

Weaver was money tonight giving up just 1 run on 6 hits well striking out 9 as he goes the complete game for his 15th win (15-6)

              C. Young looking for win #18, instead drops #7 (17-7) as he goes just 5 1/3 IP giving up all 3 runs on 4 hits well walking 4 and striking out 4.

              At the Plate

Trout (solo) and Calhoun (2-run shot) led the offense for the Halo's

For the M's, E. Bonifacio went 2/4 and stole his 23rd base of the season.

              D. Ackley went 1/4 and scored the only run on a R. Cano RBI.

              Game 3 (M's win 5-4)

L.A. took the early 2-1 lead but the M's scored 1 in the 6th to tie the game, 2 in the 7th to take the lead and added 1 more in the top of the 9th to pad the lead which turned out to be a good thing as L.A. scores 2 in the 9th.

Rookie T. Walker follows in Paxton's footsteps picking up the "W" as he improves to 7-4 pitching 7 1/3 IP giving up 2 runs on 7 hits and 3 BB well striking out 5.

              S. Pryor originally started the 9th on the mound in a non-save situation but after giving up the 2 runs gave way to Rodney who got the final out for his 47th save of the season.

              At the Plate,

Kyle Seager led the way going 2-4 with 4 RBI's well L. Morrison added a solo HR and N. Franklin went 3/4 with 2 doubles starting at SS and batting 8th.

              Game 4 (M's win 7-1 *Played)

On the Mound, H. Iwakuma was money as he improves to (10-5) with the complete game 1 run 3 hitter, as he strikes out 6. His only mistake was a 2-1 fastball to Hamilton in the 7th.

At the Plate, the M's got a big night out of J. Willingham who has been pretty quite since coming over in the June trade. Willingham goes deep (twice) finishing the day 3/5 with 3 RBI.

              K. Seager also added a solo HR, and both S. Romero and J. Jones went 2/5 with Jones scoring twice and driving in 1 run.

It helped that Iwakuma was throwing well and I tend to do well when I can get to the bullpen early. We ran Santiago out of there after just 4 IP as he gave up 4 runs on 7 hits and 4 BB's.

Just finishing up my game with the Astro's after my 2 sim games, so I might get it posted tonight as well, if not tomorrow after work. Then hope to finish up the regular season on Tues (my dayoff) so I can start the playoffs on Thursday (my other day off)

M'S BREAKOUT THE BROOMS VS STRO'S

For just the 3rd time this season, the Seattle Mariners broke out the brooms and swept a team in a 3-game series as they pick up wins #93,94 and #95.

With 7 games left (4 road vs Toronto) and (3 home vs the Angels), the odds are still stacked pretty high against the M's in their quest for 100 wins.

Here is the recaps of the 3 games.

                        Game 1 (M's win 8-1)

Seattle scored 2 runs in the 1st and that's all Felix Hernandez would need as the King pitches his 10th complete game of the season allowing just 1 run on 7 hits and 3 BB's well striking out 5.

With the victory Felix is now (21-4) on the season and has lowered his MLB best ERA to 1.81

At the Plate, the M's offense was powered by 2 Homeruns by Corey Hart who finished the day with a team high 3 RBI's.

                        D. Ackley also continues to swing a hot bad as he hits a 2-run round tripper as well.

                        J. Willingham also went 2/4 with 2 RBI's and R. Cano went 2/3 scoring both times via Hart.

                        Game 2 (M's win (9-2)

On the Mound, Rookie James Paxton picks up the "W" bringing his record to 10-10 as he goes 7 1/3 IP giving up the 2 runs on 8 hits well striking out 3. Paxton lowered his ERA to 3.83 in the process.

                        D. Farquhar pitched the final 4 outs (striking out 2) to pick up his 4th save of the season.

                        At the Plate

Seattle scored 2 in the 1st, 4 in the 5th and 3 in the 9th as C. Hart goes yard yet again in his quest for the A.L. MVP. Hart finished the day 2/4 with 3 runs scored and 3 runs driven in.

Kyle Seager also added a home run, via a base clearing one in the 5th finishing with a team high 4 RBI's. He also had 2 other hits as well going 3/5.

                        Game 3 (M's win 7-3 *Played*)

On the Mound, the M's got a scare in the 1st inning as starter Chris Young looking for his 18th win of the year leaves after getting just 1 out.

Reports are Young is listed day to day with tightness in his shoulder.. (Honestly dont' know why he got hurt?)

                        E. Ramirez cam in and pitched 5 2/3 IP giving up 2 runs on 4 hits well striking out 6 to pick up the victory as he improves to 4-4 with a 4.06 ERA on the season.

                        J. Russell pitched the final 4 outs (striking out 2) to record his 2nd save of the season as F. "The Arrow" Rodney is MIA for the 2nd straight game.

                        At the Plate

The M's generated offense via the long ball yet again. Corey Hart failed to make it 3 straight as he goes 0/4. However both R. Cano (solo shot) and N. Franklin (3 run shot) made up for it.

Franklin finished the day 3/4 and drove in 5 runs total.

Nice sweep vs. the Astros, that definitely helps the cause. It'll be interesting to see if you can get to 100 wins as Toronto and LAA are definitely not a cake walk.

I can't believe how good Corey Hart is for you haha... guess that was money well spent. Looks like Felix will be adding another Cy Young to the collection.

                            M'S EARN SPLIT UP NORTH

Coming off a sweep in Houston, the M's traveled north of the border to take on the Toronto Blue Jays for a 4 game series.

The Blue Jays came into the game having already secured the AL East, leaving it a very strong possibility that these 2 teams could face each other again in the A.L. Championship Series.

With the 2 wins in Toronto, the M's are now at "97" but with just 3 games left in the season, Seattle will now be forced to break out the brooms against the Angels if they are going to reach 100.....

Here is a recap of the 4 game set..

                            Game 1 (M's win 6-2)

On the Mound, T. Walker improves to 8-4 as he goes 8 IP strong giving up the 2 runs on 7 hits well striking out 6, lowering his ERA to 3.22

With no save situation, J. Russell pitched the 9th to close out the game.

At the Plate, Corey Hart continues his quest toward 50 HR's as he hit's a solo shot (#46). Hart finished the day 2/3 with 3 runs scored.

                            M. Zunino also added a solo HR as he goes 1/4 and S. Romero starting in LF went 2/3 with a 3 run blast.

                            Game 2 (M's fall 6-0)

Former Mariner B. Morrow dominated the M's bats as he throws a 4 hit complete game shutout striking out 11. The victory moves Morrow to (12-11) on the season with a 5.05 ERA.

USS MARINER REPORTS CHANGE TO THE ROTATION!!

Once rumored and now confirmed, GM "The Deuce" and Manager L. McClendon are changing up the rotation for the final 3 games of the season.

Rookie T. Walker originally scheduled to pitch Game #1 against L.A. will not as Brandon Maurer will get his first MLB start of the season. In Game 2, H. Iwakuma (10-6, 3.37 ERA) will also sit, as Jeff Niemann will also make his first MLB start of the season. The Game 3 starter has yet to be announced...

"I know our fans want to see 100 and I do too, but the reality is the playoffs are the most important thing on our minds right now and after talking with Mac, we decided that it would be best if the rotation gets some rest. Felix is already over 250 IP with 11 complete games, Paxton is nearing 200 IP (195) and so is C. Young (199) despite missing his last 2 starts.

At this point we will likely go with either Walker or Iwakuma in Game 3 as we would like to have the rotation back in order for the playoffs going with Felix, Young, Iwakuma, Walker with Pax most likely going to the bullpen."
