Re: Putting the Fight Back in the Phils - MLB the Show 14
Series #4:

Game 1: The Phillies got a gem from Roberto Hernandez. The 33 year old has been a pleasant surprise at the back-end, with a .196 BAA and 13K in two starts. Ryan Howard hit a double (image below) just out of the reach of Giancarlo Stanton to score the eventual winning ruin.
Game 2: Finally some offense in game two of the series. John Mayberry Jr. was the hero tonight, hitting a pinch hit, walkoff home run to lead off the ninth. Dom Brown had just hit his own homer in the eighth to tie things up. For the first time all year, the team recorded double digit hits.
Game 3:The Marlins avoided a sweep thanks to a solid performance from Nate Eovaldi. Despite entering the game with an ERA over nine and averaging over a walk per inning, Eovaldi allowed just 4 hits tonight. Cole Hamels pitched well, but falls to 0-3 on the year.

Hey, good stuff mcgee. Nice to see someone running with the Phillies here.
Must be tempting to trade away all the vets and rebuild, it'll be tough no doubt. Gotta do a better job of getting prospects back than RAJ.
I sure miss the 2011 Phils, 102-60 man what a summer that was.Comment

Game 1: A Jason Heyward first inning home run would be all the support Alex Wood needed today. Wood scattered just three hits in 7, and the Braves coasted to a win to start the series.
Game 2: An interesting game, featuring the musket-level control of Atlanta starter Brandon Beachy. Beachy allowed 8 runs, on just four hits in 3.2IP. Marlon Byrd and Jimmy Rollins both hit very timely grand slams and the Philles were able to hold on to even the series.
Game 3: Roberto Hernandez wowed the home crowd, throwing a one-hitter into the 8th inning. The veteran has been the teams best pitcher early, and has been a rare surprise for the fledgling club. Jonathan Papelbon struggled mightily, and would be bailed out and given the win thanks to a Ronny Cedeno walk of home run.
Game 4: Philadelphia was unable to win it's first series of the year, as Cliff Lee was hit hard tonight. Newest promotion Mario Hollands looked promising in his big-league debut. The 22 year old struck out three in 1.2IP. 3B Cody Asche was sent to AAA to make room, making Ronny Cedeno the full time 3B for now.

Re: Putting the Fight Back in the Phils - MLB the Show 14
When did Marlon Byrd become this good. He is crushing it in real life and even more so in your franchise. Hopefully he can keep it up and good you a nice return come trade time.
On a side note, I really don't want him in Seattle, so I really hope Cincy or someone else takes him. I just don't think he his power #'s would be the same at Safeco and don't want to give up the prospects it would take to get him there.Comment

Series #6:
(6-10) @
(8-9)
Game 1: The thin air of Coors posed no threat to Phillie pitching today as the Rockies were shutout by Cole Hamels and friends. John Mayberry's two-run double in the first was all the offense seen in the opener.
Game 2: The wildest game of the year so far, an 11 inning thriller that saw both teams use up almost their entire roster. Mike Adams blew the save in the 9th, allowing Charlie Blackmon to hit his second homer run of the game. Adams then cost himself the win in the 10th by allowing another run. Finally, after a pinch-hit RBI single by Chase Utley in the top of the 11th, Antonio Bastardo, the last pitcher in the bullpen, came in to earn the save.
Game 3: Kyle Kendrick finished off the sweep with a flawless complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out nine. The team also announced prior to the game that SP Freddy Garcia has signed with the team on a 1-year deal. He'll be in the bullpen to relieve some stress on the teams over-worked arms.

Series #7:
(9-10) @
(11-8)
Game 1: Roberto Hernandez scattered seven hits in 6.2 innings, allowing just one run. The righty used his sinker effectively yet again, and looked very strong despite striking out just two. Jimmy Rollins hit his third home run of the season for Philadelphia.
Game 2: Clayton Kershaw was on his game tonight, tossing a complete game, four hit shutout. The lefty struck out ten and forced thirty swinging strikes in the game.
Game 3: Poor Cole Hamels. The bullpen and run support never seems to be there for him. Hamels allowed just 4 hits in 6, and left the game in line for the win. Brad Lincoln would blow his 1-0 lead in the 7th, and the Dodgers would shut it down from there. Dee Gordon suffered a leg injury and was placed on the 15 day DL, while Mike Adams of the Phillies dislocated his elbow. He was moved to the 15 day as well, with the team bringing 3B Cody Asche back up.
Game 4: Both teams saved their offense for the final game of the series. The Dodgers jumped all over Jonathan Pettibone, chasing him after three innings. The Phillies were able to fight back, and found some heroics in the 9th inning. Ryan Howard led off with a pinch hit homer to tie the game at 7, and Domonic Brown would rip a double into the game later in the inning to score the winning run.

It's just like real life for poor Cole.. pitches great but gets no run support or the bull pen blows his leads.
Really like your work so far, wish I had these kind of editing skills. I'll be interested to see what you to do in trade season if you're out of it as the Phils have a lot of assets for a rebuild.Phillies | A's | Michigan State | Browns | Chelsea FC | BruinsComment

This looks really good so far dude. The Phillies used to be my team back in 07-12 I just haven't been able to bring myself to watch them since they started falling apart. Hopefully, you get this franchise back on track dude.
I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil
