    SERIES PREVIEW

    SEATTLE MARINERS(7-11) @ TEXAS RANGERS(6-14)

MARINERS look to end 9 Game skid in TEXAS...

This just might be "What the Doctor ordered." for the struggling Seattle Mariners(7-11).

A nice 3 game Series against the struggling but worst Texas Rangers(6-14).

The Rangers have lost 4 of their past 6 games and we're swept by Houston(16-4) before taking the Series down in Tampa where in the process they handed the Rays(1-17) their first win of the Season.

"It's been a bit of a rough start for us this year." Rangers Manager Jeff Banister stated.

Texas hired Jeff Banister in 2015 where he led the Rangers to a 88-74 record and the A.L West Division Title. This was the Rangers first Division title since 2011 and first playoff birth since 2012 where they lost to the Baltimore Orioles in the Wild Card.

Banister was named Manager of the Year for 2015. In 2016, the Rangers went 95-67 on their way to a second straight AL West Title. The Rangers lost in the ALDS to the Blue Jays for the second year in a row this time being swept.

2017, the Rangers struggled to a 78-84 record and missed the playoffs. This year, the Rangers are off to a slow start losing 14 of their first 20 games.

"Last year was awful for us and this year we seem to not be able to win games. We're in a funk." Banister stated.

He's also in the last year of his Contract and chances are he may be on his way out by the fall if the Rangers can't get something going.

"We have no interest of talking Contract extensions until we're a good chunk of the way through the Season." Rangers GM Jon Daniels stated.

It appears Jeff Banister is on a "Win now" year.

The Mariners(7-11) started the year off strong with a 7-2 record and a sweep over the Cleveland Indians(12-6).

But after a rough Series in Kansas City including Danny Duffy's No Hitter, the Mariners went on a 9 game skid.

They lost the Series in K.C, and we're swept by Oakland, and Houston in Safeco Field.

"We're in a slump and treading water. We need to look at ourselves and get back to winning." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

RANGERS rally for 8 in the 6th inning to hand SEATTLE their 10th straight loss..

      RECAP

Arlington, TX- The Mariners(7-12) continue to sink in 2018 as they have now dropped 10 straight tonight in Arlington. The Mariners took a 1-0 lead in the first with a Nelson Cruz HR and proceeded to add on to it in the second.

The Mariners had a 6-0 lead in the 4th when Rangers Right Fielder Shinsoo Choo blasted a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 4th.

This wouldn't be the last Seattle would hear from Choo.

The Mariners held a 7-2 lead and the Rangers would rally with a Choo Grand Slam.

Texas(7-14) would rally for 8 runs thanks to a Grand slam by Choo and Andrus knocking in more runs.

The Rangers would take a 10-7 lead and never relinquish it.

"We have a lot of heart in here and when we rallied we all believed in each other." Rangers Manager Jeff Banister stated.

The Mariners(7-12) would get a run in the 7th but failed to get anymore.

Hisashi Iwakuma lasted 5 innings and was solid with 5 strikeouts and only giving up 2 hits and the Choo 2 run HR.

Holding onto a 7-2 lead, the Mariners turned to Juan Nicasio(1-3) from the Pen.

He entered the game in the bottom of the 6th and Texas rallied for 8 runs off him.

"It was a mess. I wish I could take it back." Nicasio stated.

He gave up 3 hits, 8 runs, and got 2 strikeouts.

"We we're up 7-2 and we let it slip away from us." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

Rangers newly signed Closer Huston Street made his 2nd Rangers appearance and got his 2nd Save of the year.

Yeah lots of problems. The roster has huge holes. Aside from Haniger, Seager, and Cruz killing the ball. Gamel aint' providing much. Slow April for him. The bench depth is a joke with Herrida, Nuewenheis, etc. Pitching is a concern both in the rotation and bullpen. Oh and Scott Servais sucks as a Manager

MARINERS snap 10 game skid off Mike Z's 3 run Blast...

            RECAP

Arlington, TX- When the Seattle Mariners(8-12) needed a spark, Catcher Mike Zunino answered. Doing so with style.

A 3 run blast in just the first inning off Cole Hamels(1-2).

The Mariners put 4 runs on the board in the first 2 innings and never looked back.

"We we're treading water there for awhile and needed a lifesaver. Z stepped in and handled it himself. Got us all excited." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

The Mariners(8-12) snap their 10 game slide with a 5-4 victory over the Rangers(7-15) Friday night.

Rangers lefty Cole Hamels(1-2) was rocked for 4 runs early including a 3 run blast by Zunino but finished strong with 5 hits and 7 K's.

"I threw him a fastball." Hamels stated. "He crushed it."

The Mariners took a 5-0 lead in the 7th inning and kept the Rangers off the board.

Mariners Erasmo Ramirez(2-1) went 5.2 innings only allowing 3 hits, no runs, and 5 K's.

Servais then went to his bullpen in the later innings.

But the Rangers wouldn't go down easy.

Texas(7-15) rallied back in the bottom of the 8th scoring 4 runs and showing the great fans of Arlington, Texas why their Ball Club are fighters.

"We rallied for a bit there but couldn't finish the job." Rangers Manager Jeff Banister stated.

Seattle got the last laugh when young phenom Edwin Diaz came out in the bottom of the 9th with only a 1 run lead.

He pitched possibly his best inning ever. Striking out the side on his way to his 5th Save of the year.

"We threw him into a tight spot there with just a 1 run lead but he got the job done." Servais stated.

With the Series at one game a piece, the teams will battle it out tomorrow to see who wins the Series.

The Mariners(8-12) will have a challenge as their Ace Felix Hernandez(1-3) is off to a rough start.

The Rangers(7-15) will counter with Mike Manor(2-1).

MARINERS sneak past RANGERS 3-2 in extra Innings....

              RECAP

Arlington, TX- The "Rubber Match" between the Texas Rangers(7-15) and Seattle Mariners(9-12 was like a game of chess.

No team had any hits through the first 3 innings.

Then in the top of the 4th, Mariners DH Nelson Cruz stepped in and blasted his 10th Home Run of the year that put the M's up 1-0.

The Mariners took a 2-0 lead into the 7th inning until Texas tied it up at 2 a piece thanks to a Joey Gallo 2 run blast off "The King" Felix Hernandez.

"We tied it up there in the 7th but couldn't get any more." Rangers Manager Jeff Banister stated.

Speaking of Hernandez, Hernandez went 7 strong innings allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, and managed 8 K's. He had a no hitter going on into the 6th when Texas finally got a man on base.

Hernandez has been struggling so far this year and managed to show signs of his old self.

"It's a step in the right direction. Little by little." Hernandez stated.

He missed out on the decision due to being pulled in a tied game.

The Mariners(9-12) and Rangers(7-15) failed to score anymore runs and the game entered extra innings.

The Mariners finished the job in just the top of the 10th when they loaded the bases.

Left Fielder Ben Gamel got the RBI that put Seattle up 3-2.

Edwin Diaz finished the job for his 6th Save of the year.

"We needed a hero and Ben (Gamel) came through for us." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

No team wanted to back down today in the finale. Rangers Mike Minor went 7.1 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs allowed, and 8 K's.

"It was one of those games today." Banister stated. "No Team could score anymore until the 10th."

The Seattle Mariners(9-12) will take their Series win and continue their road trip as they head to the "Windy City" and battle the Chicago White Sox(10-11).

The Texas Rangers(7-16) will stay in Arlington and get ready to battle the Oakland A's(13-8).

SEATTLE MARINERS(9-12) VS CHICAGO WHITE SOX(11-11)

MARINERS look to keep momentum going over struggling WHITE SOX

After snapping their 10 game skid with a 5-4 victory over the Rangers Saturday, the Mariners went on to take the Series yesterday.

"Everytime you get on a losing streak it's never fun. When the losses keep piling up, the morale in the Clubhouse begins to suffer. We needed to get a win." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

The Mariners will look to keep the momentum going in their favor as they land in Chicago. The White Sox enter the Series in a rebuild phase of their own.

The Sox are coming off a 67-95 2017 Campaign in which former Cubs Manager Rick Renteria took over after Robin Ventura was fired after the 2016 Season.

"It's been a rough road for us but we're building something here." White Sox Manager Rick Renteria stated.

Renteria became the 2nd Manager in MLB History to be the Manager of both the White Sox and the Cubs.

It's a uphill climb for sure for the ChiSox, as the Club ranks 24th in Pitching. The Team is almost dead last in Defense.

General Manager Rick Hahn has already made it clear since last year that the White Sox is in "Rebuild mode."

Rick Renteria was with the Cubs in 2014 when the Cubbies went 73-89.

It's been a long journey for the White Sox as the last time they made the Playoffs was in 2008 where they lost to the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS in 4 games.

The Club has yet to have a winning record since 2012 with a 85-77 record.

The rebuild continues in Chicago as the Mariners look to keep momentum on their side.

In Game 1, the Mariners(9-12) will turn to "Big Maple" James Paxton(2-1).

                The White Sox(11-11) will send T.J House(0-4).

INDIANS look for retribution as MARINERS come to town...

                    SERIES PREVIEW

CLEVELAND- The Seattle Mariners(11-13) swept the Cleveland Indians(17-7) on Opening Day. Since then, it's been the exact opposite.

The Mariners soon entered a 10 game skid where the Indians went on a 11 game win streak to return to the dominant team they are.

"Baseball is a long Season. Plenty of ups and downs and twists and turns." Indians Manager Terry Francona stated.

The Indians look like that force that made the World Series just 2 years ago.

The Club is leading the league in Saves (14). Shutouts (5). And Strikeouts(146).

"We're playing good baseball right now. We're excited for the Mariners to come to us." Indians Ace Jake Arrieta stated.

He signed a 3 year deal worth 38.40m after turning down a deal to stay with the Cubs.

"We swept them earlier but we've been on two different paths since. Gonna be a hard Series for us." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

INDIANS can't solve MARINERS as bats go cold in Cleveland...

                      RECAP

Cleveland, OH- The Indians(17-8) can't seem to solve the Seattle Mariners(12-13) as the Tribe lose 3-1 where they only managed 4 hits.

"Head scratcher for sure." Indians Manager Terry Francona stated. "It's like we can't seem to get a win against those guys."

The Mariners got off to a hot start with a Nelson Cruz homerun in just the first inning.

Indians right hander Josh Tomlin(2-2) never got settled. He finished the night with 2 strikeouts and 4 hits allowed and 3 runs.

He gave up HR's to Nelson Cruz and a 2 run blast to Taylor Motter in the 6th that broke the 1-1 tie.

"I never got comfortable. Just wasn't my night." Tomlin said.

The Mariners(12-13) sent out Erasmo Ramirez(3-1) and he got 5 K's with just 3 hits and a Francisco Mejia HR.

Closer Edwin Diaz got his 8th save of the year.

"When we can buckle down like that I think we can really get some wins." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

"Our bats we're cold and that's our fault." Francona stated.

INDIANS solve MARINERS off Kluber's Complete Game...

                        RECAP

CLEVELAND- The fifth time was the charm for the Cleveland Indians(18-8) to finally beat the Seattle Mariners(12-14) in 2018.

They did it with fashion too.

A complete game by Ace Corey Kluber(5-1) who only allowed 5 hits, 2 runs, and a dominating 15 K's as the Tribe rolled over the M's 14-2.

"We can't beat them every game." Joked Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

The Mariners fell into a hole early when Indians 1B Edwin Encarnacion blasted a 3 run blast off the struggling King.

Felix Hernandez(1-4) lasted just 4 innings where he allowed 6 hits, 5 runs, and 1 strikeout.

Hernandez continues to slump. The Bullpen did no favors.

Encarnacion blasted another 3 run blast later in the game as the Tribe just kept pouring it on.

"We knew we had to make every swing count. We didn't want our bats to go ice cold again. Especially against a guy like Felix (Hernandez)." Indians Manager Terry Francona stated.

The Tribe finished the day with 16 hits.

"Great day by all of us. We swung the bat well." Francona added.

Defense shows up. Paxton and Carrasco go the distance. Diaz gets 9th save as MARINERS beat INDIANS 1-0.

                          RECAP

CLEVELAND- One day after a 14-2 drubbing by the Indians(18-9). it was time for the Tribe to say hello to "Big Maple" James Paxton(4-1).

"Needed a spark for us on the mound today and Paxton was our guy." Mariners Manager Scott Servais stated.

James Paxton(4-1) went 8 innings striking out 9 Indians and allowing just 2 hits.

"He was in his own world out there today. He really gave it to us." Indians Manager Terry Francona stated.

The Indians(18-9) stuck with Carlos Carrasco(2-3) who also went 8 innings only allowing 3 hits, 1 run, and 6 K's.

The only run was a blast by Nelson Cruz. His 15th of the year.

The Mariners(13-14) squeaked by the Indians(18-9) today but it wasn't easy.

Neither team budged on defense. It was a game of chess.

"We had plenty of chances to get some runs but we couldn't get anything going." Francona said.

"Holding onto a 1 run lead like that was just stressful." Servais added.

The Mariners(13-14) could of stuck with the hot arm of "Big Maple" but decided to turn the ball over to their hot Closer Edwin Diaz who came in for his 9th save of the year.

"Wasn't a hard decision. Edwin is hot for us." Servais stated.

The final game of the Series will be tomorrow afternoon.
