Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
It's so awesome to see this still trucking along! I'm guessing you're playing out the full 40 years (?) of this legacy? Really curious to see how many more titles you win in this closing stretch, and how early it takes you to hit 1K wins!Comment

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Yes, the plan is to play the full 40 seasons! That might take many real life years at the rate I’ve been playing in recent seasons, but that’s certainly the goal if I don’t somehow lose my save! I think I’ve definitely got the program in a shape where we are a threat to win the title every season, so hopefully we can rack up some more over the last decade of this legacy. I’d really like to pull off an undefeated season, too; that’s something I haven’t managed yet.Comment

I’ve got it backed up on a flash drive as well as the console, so it should be pretty safe barring extraordinary circumstances. It’s already survived a console dying on me, LOL.Comment

2037 Recruiting Class
With only two scholarships available for the 2037 recruiting class, West Virginia head coach James Frizzell did about as well as could be expected with limited resources. The Mountaineers brought in Oscar Carroto, the No. 1 point guard in the nation, and Tremmell Amerson, the No. 2 center in the nation.
Oscar Carroto headlines the class and hails from Newport News, VA. The top-ranked point guard and No. 2-ranked overall recruit from the 2037 class stands at 6'1" tall and 190 lbs. Carroto is also an All-American and the Mr. Basketball from the state of Virginia. Carroto isn't the biggest guy, but he has an excellent shooting stroke and should be a big weapon from beyond the arc. Carroto also is very adept at taking care of the basketball and finishes well inside around the basket considering his size. The sharpshooting Carroto fits Frizzell's offensive philosophy better than presumptive 2037-2038 starter Morris Filipovic, so it wouldn't be shocking to see him push Filipovic for the starting point guard position, especially as the season progresses.
Tremmell Amerson hails from St. Louis, MO and stands at an impressive 7'0" tall and 265 lbs. His frame puts him in elite company in the same build as many of West Virginia's great centers over the years of their dynasty. Amerson's build isn't the only impressive thing going for him. He's also deceptively athletic for his size and does a good job at taking care of the basketball. He's also very strong and can really bully guys around in the low post on both ends of the court, which allows him to get guys off the block and also haul in some impressive rebounding totals. Amerson will likely slide in as the backup center and power forward next season, but it wouldn't be shocking to see him push for a starting job at power forward or center as the season progresses.
"We brought in another great crop of kids," explained Frizzell. "We didn't have a lot of scholarships to work with this year, but I really like who we've brought in. Both Oscar [Carroto] and Tremmell [Amerson] are going to be big boosts for next season and I'm really looking forward to getting a good look at them in fall camp. They're going to be huge for us not just next season, but also going forward!"
This year's class is the 31st-ranked recruiting class in the nation, largely because the Mountaineers only had two scholarships available. However, with their two scholarships they got about as good of quality as they could've hoped for.
Signed Recruits:
1. Oscar Carroto 6'2 190 (Newport News, VA - #2 overall, #1 PG) 5* All-American, Mr. Basketball
2. Tremmell Amerson 7'0 265 (St. Louis, MO - #74 overall, #2 C) 4*Last edited by superjames1992; 04-20-2021, 04:43 PM.Comment

2037-2038 West Virginia Individual Player Preview
Starters:
PG #1 Morris Filipovic 6'1 183 (Berkeley, CA) 87 overall JR (RS)
Morris Filipovic moves into the starting lineup this season after backing up NBA Draftee Damond Pasco for the past two seasons. The redshirt junior is a good defender and is quick with an innate ability to drive and finish around the basket, but his relative lack of shooting ability is something that's held him back during his first few seasons in Morgantown. His success as starting point guard will be contingent on his ability to improve his shooting stroke.
SG #31 Joshua Wilkerson 6'5 211 (Philadelphia, PA) 88 overall JR (RS)
Joshua Wilkerson will start at shooting guard to start this season, though he will likely be sharing playing time around 50/50 with backup Barry Henning. Wilkerson had a solid season last year, shooting 42% from the floor and 40% from three-point range. He isn't a great handler of the ball, but his ability to hit shots from deep will be key to giving West Virginia's other players the space to make things happen.
SF #22 Stefon Hull 6'6 216 (Phoenix, AZ) 88 overall JR
Stefon Hull returns as a starter this season after scoring 15.1 points per game last season, second on the team behind the graduating Felipe Delgado. Hull has a quick stroke and is a very good jump shooter. Last season he shot 37% from three-point range on over nine attempts per game. Hull will be key to the West Virginia offense this season.
PF #33 Belton Mombollet 6'9 236 (Memphis, TN) 87 overall SR
Belton Mombollet returns for his senior season and his second year as a starter. The 6'9" product from Memphis had a solid, if unspectacular season last year with almost eight points and seven rebounds per game. Mombollet also showed extended range last season, hitting 30% of his attempts from three-point range, but on only 20 attempts. If he can up his three-point shooting volume while maintaining or improving on his percentage, that would be a huge boost to the West Virginia offense this season. He also has a great back to the basket game and will look to build on that during his senior season.
C #50 Carson Lavender 7'0 263 (Detroit, MI) 86 overall JR
Carson Lavender has the size of West Virginia's great centers over the years, standing at 7'0" tall and 263 lbs. The junior will look to build on a solid performance in 2036-2037 (9.2 PPG, 8.6 RPG) and will be the bulwark down load defensively for the Mountaineers. It'll be a successful season for the junior if he can average a double-double this coming season.
Bench:
PG #3 Oscar Carroto 6'2 196 (Newport News, VA) 79 overall FR
Oascar Carroto comes to Morgantown as one of the higher-touted prospects in program history. He was the top-ranked point guard in the 2037 recruiting class and the No. 2 overall player. Carroto has good size (6'2") for a point guard and has a great all-around skill set, but his biggest strength is his shooting stroke. Carroto could easily be a 40% three-point shooter as soon as this season and if he hits his shots he could challenge Morris Filipovic for the starting job at point guard by the end of the season. Additionally, he could see some minutes at shooting guard alongside Filipovic.
SG #34 Barry Henning 6'8 217 (Rocky Mount, NC) 85 overall SO
Barry Henning had a promising freshman season last year and will look to expand his role this year with additional playing time after the graduation of Felipe Delgado. Henning shot 45% from the floor and 39% from three-point range last season, though he sometimes struggled with his ball-handling. He has reportedly worked on that this offseason, so expect to see him take advantage of this and make more of his attempts driving towards the basket this season.
SG #20 Darrel Iguodala 6'6 209 (Santa Maria, CA) 80 overall FR (RS)
Darrel Iguodala redshirted last season, and he will likely serve in a reserve role this season. He's a good all-around player, but it's difficult to pinpoint any strengths at this point. He's a decent shooter and has some ability to finish around the basket, but it's not likely he'll see a lot of meaningful playing time this season.
SF #23 Johnny Riggs 6'7 219 (Erie, PA) 84 overall SO
Johnny Riggs will see an expanded role this season as the primary backup small forward. The rising sophomore struggled offensively last season (35% FG, 33% 3PT) and it will be imperative for him to improve his shooting stroke this season if he wants to see extensive playing time.
SF #30 Kerwin Duncan 6'8 207 (Philadelphia, PA) 80 overall SO (RS)
Redshirt sophomore Kerwin Duncan only saw reserve action in his first season of playing time last season and it's likely he'll only see non-meaningful reserve time once again this year. He showed some potential from beyond the arc in limited playing time last year (40% 3PT), but his 29% overall field goal percentage left a lot to be desired. He has good size for a small forward, though, and could see action at power forward if needed.
C #45 Tremmell Amerson 7'0 270 (St. Louis, MO) 78 overall FR
Tremmell Amerson arrives to Morgantown as the No. 74 overall and No. 2 center nationally. He has tremendous size at 7'0" and 270 lbs. and he'll step in as the backup center this season. He has all the tools to be another of the long list of great centers that have come out of Morgantown in recent decades.
C #44 Tasmir Nelson 6'11 219 (Laredo, TX) 76 overall FR (RS)
Tasmir Nelson redshirted last season, but will step onto the active roster this season. He's much lankier than Amerson at 6'11" and 219 lbs. Nelson is a good rebounder considering his size and he'll see playing time at backup power forward this season.
Reserves:
C #10 Brandin Plummer 7'2 302 (Chula Vista, CA) 73 overall JR (RS)
The former walk-on will not be on the active roster to start this season, though he will likely be needed next season with Belton Mombollet's coming graduation and Carson Lavender potentially declaring for the NBA Draft at season's end. Plummer isn't a very skilled player, but he has great size at over 7'2" and 302 lbs. and is a formidable physical force that he can use to his advantage.Comment

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
I tried turning on my 360 earlier and have a single red dot and it isn’t displaying anything, so that’s not ideal. I’m going to try to blow the dust our and repair it if I can, but I might be in need of a new console now...
I do have the save game backed up on a flash drive, so this legacy should be safe.Comment

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
I believe that’s correct, though this current 360 I’ve had since around 2010, I believe. My first 360 only lasted me a few years, but this current one is like a decade old.
One thing that does suck is I’ll have to go through the process of getting the new console hooked up to internet and stuff to get the patch installed (I don’t usually have the 360 connected anymore and it’s in another room from my router). I hope the patch still installs since my recollection is this game is significantly better post-patch.Comment
