Good luck with this, Marino. Hopefully, you can do better than the trainwreck that has been the N.C. State basketball team the last few years.

East Lansing, Mi-- NC State dropped their 3rd in a row as they were beat by 13 by the Michigan State Spartans.

NC State controlled most of the 1st half, even having as high as a 9 point lead, but then all hell broke loose. The Wolfpack lost their composure and Michigan State capitlized.

Michigan State had a lead as big as 16 in the 2nd half, but NC State went on a late surge to bring it all the way down to 4, but it was not enough.

North Carolina State has 2 weeks off before their next game due to finals. Their next game will be against East Carolina as they look to get back to their winning ways.

            National News
            12-7-07

Tar Heels Land Top Recruit During Early Signing Period

Chapel Hill, NC--Good news for the Tar Heels came this week, as the nation's top recruit, Billy Watts, committed to Carolina early this week.

Watts is out of Louisville, Kentucky, is considered by Scout and ESPNU to be the top recruit coming out next year. He averaged 20.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 6.6 assists during the ABL.

"It was a no brainer." Watts said during his press conference. "I love the tradition, I love the exposure, when coach [Roy] Williams asked me if I wanted to play for the Heels next year, how could I turn it down?"

Kansas The Early Favorite This Year?

Lawrence, Ks--Can anyone stop the Jayhawks? Kansas is out to an impressive 7-0 record and has won every game by at least 9 points.

The most impressive win came on the road, as the top seeded Jayhawks traveled to Los Angeles and knocked off the Trojans of Southern Cal.

They have a big matchup in Atlanta on December 18th, as they face off against Georgia Tech. But can anyone stop the Jayhawks?

            Trouble in the Triangle?

North Carolina--All 3 of the teams in the triangle (UNC, Duke, NC State) are off to slow starts. Could their be trouble this year in the state of college basketball?

UNC is off to a 4-4 record...(and yet still ranked in the top 10), Duke is off to its worse start in years, with a 3-4 record, and NC State has dropped 3 in a row to go to 3-3. Could their be problems on tobacco road?

Greenville, NC--North Carolina State has been pretty down in their luck recently. After back to back tough losses in the final minute at the Old Spice Classic, NC State had to go to East Lansing. They lost another tough one there.

Well, NC State wanted to make sure that they did not fall below .500 early with a great start. NC State jumped out to a 21 point lead early but they had a 19 point lead at halftime, 40-21.

Once again though, NC State came out quite sloppy to begin the 2nd half, and ECU brought the lead down to 9, but NC State managed to pull away late and walk away with a 70-50 victory.

NC State will finally return back to the RBC Center as they get ready to take on South Carolina State University.

              Record: 4-3

Raleigh, NC-- NC State needed to battle early on against South Carolina State. NC State started off very slow, throughout the entire first half. At one point, SCSU had a 33-31 lead late in the 1st half, and that woke up the boys in red.

It was 42-38 at halftime, thanks to good production off the bench by freshmen J.J. Hickson and Tracy Smith.

NC State opened up a 10 point lead early on in the 2nd half, and continued to build on it from there.

Led by Courtney Fells 22 points, NC State put South Carolina State out to pasture, 86-68.

NC State will get to face off against young phenom Stephen Curry, as the Davidson Wildcats (3-3) come to the RBC Center to take on the Wolfpack.

                  Record: 5-3

Raleigh, NC--Many people came out to watch freshman standout Stephen Curry, but many left amazed at what NC State's freshman, J.J. Hickson did.

The 5 star recruit out of Georgia showed his value against Davidson, by scoring 37 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. The main offense ran through him due to the lackluster 3 point shooting that has plagued the Wolfpack of recent.

The reason that Hickson was able to steal the show, was due to the great defense the Wolfpack played on Curry.

Hands were in his face all game, and he had no easy shots. He scored 17, but most came during garbage time.

NC State has only 1 day of rest as the Cincinnati Bearcats will travel down to North Carolina to take on the Wolfpack on Sunday.

Raleigh, NC--While the Cincinnati Bearcats may be off to the worse start in team history, don't let it fool you that this squad is capable of an upset. And in the first half, they had NC State had on the ropes. They held the lead for almost all of the first half.

That was, until the end of the first half, when J.J. Hickson got a 3 point play with 6.2 seconds left to go, to give NC State a halftime lead of 42-41.

And NC State carried that momentum to the 2nd half. Were they shot a staggering 70%, led by sophomore forward Brandon Costner. Costner had a team high 25 points to carry the Wolfpack to the 85-76 victory.

NC State will go on the road next Thursday, as they take on Seton Hall, as they continue to prepare for conference play.

                      Record: 7-3
