Hopin I end up at either Boise St., UNC(My favorite college), or UConn.

Deuce, I was thinking about creating a coaching dynasty and was curious what teams and recruiting strategies you recommend? I want to take a team that was either a non-postseason team or a low seed NIT team and eventually make a tourney appearance. Was hoping to emulate the coaching style of Shaka Smart

I am guessing Ghost Watson could be a 1 and Done player but if not I am thinking that he and Coley could make a nice backcourt duo.

Well you have 2 choices. You can start out a Closed Legacy and go with a small conference team and hope that a cool mid-major like VCU opens up, or go with a Open Legacy and just pick a team from a Conference like the Colonial/WAC/SunBelt/Ect that you like or ot with a Major Conference team like someone from the A-10, or Mountain West.

Personally I love both options. I use to be 100% Closed, but I do like the options to be able to fix recruits, so that way the Top-10 isn't all PG and Duke doesn't end up with a roster full of PG in Year 4 and no one taller then 6'7, so that is why I went with BSU this time around.

As far as recruiting goes. I could write a book on it.

Biggest things I have learned. Once another team offers a scholarship and moves ahead of you on his board, give up. No use in using all your points on a guy who will 99% sign with the other school. Look for 3* and 4* guys who after inseason signing don't have a scholarship offer. and at the beginning of the year look for guys instate or surrounding states who have only a few schools intersted. If you can get in a guy's Top-5 early you will have a better chance of moving up. If a guy has a power school on his list #1-3 and you are sitting #4 you probably won't move up if you are a small school.

I have never seen weather.com so horrible incorrect. Was suppose to be rain/snow mix with winds around 19 mph.. Instead it was mid 50's with some wind, but not bad enough to keep me off the Disc Golf course. Updates are getting pushed back to tomorrow. Sorry for those following, but be ready. Got some big games coming up against boardmember recruits.

                            BRONCOS CONTINUE TO STRUGGLE

Coming off back to back NCAA Appearences and 20+ win seasons, Coach Derozan felt like Year 3 would the year his team would make a statement around the nation, that they were a team to take notice of. With 4 returning starters and the addition of star Freshman AJ Akpan, Coach D loaded up the Non-Conference schedule with some top teams in the nation. However so far the team has struggled to put away games and struggled to put points on the board producing a sub .500 record, leaving Coach D and everyone else wondering just what type of team the Broncos really are?

                            (1-3) VS (0-2)

                            GAME PREVIEW

VCU over the past couple of seasons have built themselves into a Mid/Major powerhouse behind the play of Coach Shaka Smart. Smart has moved on, but that doesn't mean the Rams don't plan on keeping their run to NCAA tourneys alive (10 tourney bids). They will rely heavliy on the combo of FR PF O. Grace and FR C Ian McLaughlin (Boardmember recruit)

                            THE GAME

Boise State shot amazing in the 1st half hitting 58% FG taking a 49-41 lead into the locker room, but VCU would open the 2nd half on a 14-2 run to take the 4 point lead as Grace and McLaughlin worked the boards for 2nd chance points and the Broncos would never recover. BSU would hit just 1/10 from 3pt in the 2nd half as VCU would build a 10 point lead with less then 1 minute to play.

                            FINAL SCORE BSU-78 VCU-88

                            KEY PLAYERS

AJ Akpan-7 pts 3 reb 8 assist (played just 15 minutes b/c of fouls)
                            A. Diarra-15 pts 6 reb (Bench)

                            6'11 FR Ian McLaughlin-16 pts 7 reb 4 blks

                            (1-4) @ (4-1)

                            GAME PREVIEW

The Rebels came into the game having lost just once to #22 Oklahoma State and were coming off a 62-55 win over Illinois behind the play of SR SF R. Buckner (19.4 PPG) and "The Beast" 7'6 Freshman Jacob Yrogergj.

                            THE GAME

Once again the Broncos would dominated the 1st half as AJ Akpan got in the scoring mode hitting 3/3 from 3pt to lead BSU with 14 1st half points and helping them take a 43-22 lead. BSU used their trio of bigmen (Hicks,Mbaye,Diarra) to keep "The Beast in check limiting him to just 4 minutes of PT before picking up his 2nd foul. Again Yrogergj would find himself on the bench early in the 2nd half as he picked up his 3rd and 4th fouls. With his bigman out of the game, SR R. Buckner would struggle shooting just 4/11 and 0/4 from 3pt scoring a season low 8 pts.

                            FINAL SCORE BSU-83 OLE MISS-57

                            KEY PLAYERS

                            GAME PREVIEW

The Cornhuskers are very young starting 2 Soph's and 3 Freshman including SG Dillion Tenholder (Board Recruit), but Coach Derozan knew it would take his team's best effort to pick up a win.

Coach D "Coach Sadler runs a great program and knows how to win games (he is 107-62 Lifetime)"

                            THE GAME

Poor shooting and early foul troubles woudl plague the Broncos in the 1st half as they trailed 38-30 going into the locker room. Nebraska was led by FR D. Tenholder who scored 12 pts in the 1st half hitting 4/4 from 3pt.

Things went from bad to worse for BSU in the 2nd half as they would finish just 18/54 FG and 6/22 from 3pt. This would be the 1st game in Coach Deuce's career that he wouldn't have a single player in double digits.

                            FINAL SCORE BSU-58 NEBRASKA-78

                            KEY PLAYERS
                            AJ Akpan-8 pts 6 reb 3 asst
                            S. Hicks-8 pts 4 reb

                            D. Tenholder-27 pts 4 reb 7/18 FG 5/8 3pt (POG)

                            (2-5) @ (4-2)

                            GAME PREVIEW

Like Nebraska, BYU is very young with 2 Soph and 2 Freshman starters including FR PF Kyle Thomas (Board Recruit). Thomas was last year's Mr BB from Meridian Idaho, and had orginally stated he wanted to play for Coach Deuce at Boise State, but last minute changed his mind and headed to Provo.

Thomas however broke his ankle in the Cougars last win leaving him sidelined for the next month. (Avg 7.0 PPG, 4.5 RPG 1.2 APG, 1.2 SPG, .8 BPG)

                            THE GAME RECAP

It was a 1st half firework display for both teams as they combined to shoot 68% from the field and only a last minute 3pt at the buzzer seperated these 2 teams as BYU took the 44-41 lead into the locker room.

Coming off one of their worst offensive showings against Nebraska, Coach D reminded his team to take good shots and to step up on Defense. The Broncos would do both as they held the Cougars to just 1/9 from 3pt in the 2nd half, and SO PG D. Fields used his quickness to slice through defenders to score a career high/season high 18 pts as he led the Broncos to the victory. However the victory didn't come without cost. SO M. Mbaye left the game just 7 minutes in with a injury and was never seen again. More reports on his injury coming soon.

                            FINAL SCORE BSU-77 BYU-71

                            KEY PLAYERS

                            AJ Akpan-15 pts 3 reb 4 asst 4 stls 3/3 3pt
                            D. Wiley-13 pts 2 reb 5 asst 4/9 FG 2/7 3pt

                            SO PG D. Eisenhout-16 pts 4 reb 3/5 3pt
                            JR K. Collinsworth-15 pts 6/18 FG 1/6 3pt

COACH D'S COMMENTS AFTER THE GAME

"Losing Mbaye is huge for us. I found out from the doctors that it is a broken patella and he will miss the remainder of the season. We will talk to the NCAA about getting granted a medical redshirt this week. With Mbaye out will be down to just 8 players suited up and Walkon Freshman R. Hoyer and B. Sylla (Currently Redshirting) available should anyone else get hurt. Right now the plan is to just move A. Diarra into the starting lineup, however A. Legee has expierence starting (35 games last year) so he could step in as well moving S. Hicks back to Center where he played his freshman year"

                            (3-5) @ #22 (6-2)

                            GAME PREVIEW

This would be the 2nd game of the season that BSU took on a team in the Top-25. (Lost to #19 SMC to open the year). SLU comes into the game with 3 players Avg double digits (6'11 JR R. Lee-13.9, 6'8 SR C. Ellis-12.9, and FR A. Marvell-12.0). Adrian Marvell (Board member Recruit) was the #2 player in last year's recruiting class and the 6'8 SF has shown why he is considered a lottery pick already as he has put up solid #'s (12.0 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.2 SPG shooting 14/39 from 3pt)

Keeping Marvell contained will be a huge step in winning this game for the Broncos.

                            THE GAME RECAP

Once again the Broncos would play well in the 1st half taking a 44-31 lead into the locker room. Normally with only 8 players dressed, having one of your star players get into foul troubles would be a bad thing, but for Coach Derozan, it was a blessing. With JR PF S. Hicks on the sideline, SO A. Legee joined the starting unit with 8 minutes to play in the game and would have a career night as he picked up a double double scoring a team high 17 pts and pulled down a team high 10 rebounds as the Broncos picked up back to back wins for the 1st time all year.

                            FINAL SCORE BSU-85 SLU-64

                            KEY PLAYERS

"It was great to see us finally pickup back to back wins. Hopefully we can continue to play well. We have a huge game next week against #8 (9-1) Indiana so we will have to be at our best. I thought A. Legee did a great job of coming in and replacing the kind of #'s we normally expect out of Hicks or Mbaye and Prosper Fullove had a great game off the bench. This PT has been limited this year and I know he is frustrated with it, so I really hope the pep talk before the game can continue to help, because we will need him to be ready when the time comes for those extra minutes."

Few good wins in there. Too bad you had those losses to VCU and Nebraska.
