So I got the FSU game played, then going to finish of the season some some simming of WAC play then start out playing the WAC tourney and hopefully NCAA tourney once again. I really don't like my seasons taking 2 weeks to finish out but with my work schedule it seems like that's what it's taking right now.

              TOP-25 BATTLE

              (4-5) @ #8 (10-1)

              GAME/OPPONENT PREVIEW

The Hoosiers have been playing almost perfect basketall, if not for a 77-78 loss in the final seconds to UT-Pan American in their 2nd game of the season, but they are hot of late having won 8 straight including wins over (Texas,#16 Tennesse, Florida State and Pitt). They are Avging a nation best 85.8 PPG and FR PF Dalton Henry (13.5 PPG 6.7 RPG 2.8 APG 1.3 BPG) and FR PG Michael Williams (11.0 PPG 4.4 APG, 1.2 SPG 22/44 3pt 50%) are key reasons for it.

The Broncos have had a up and down season but are coming off their first back to back wins of the season and are looking to establish a name for themselves with a win over a Top-10 program. Playing with just 8 players suited up with the injury to last years WAC FOY M. Mbaye, Coach Derozan will rely heavily on the 7'2 monster in the post Amadou Diarra. (10.7 PPG, 4.5 RPG 1.8 BPG) and the trio of SR SG D. Wiley, JR PF S. Hicks, and FR SF AJ Akpan (all Avg Double Digits)

              THE GAME

The 1st half was a battle as both teams shot over 50% FG and a late 3pt with 4 seconds left by D. Wiley tied the game 45-45 going into the half. M. Williams led the way for Indiana with 10 pts including 2/2 from 3pt and dished out a team high 6 assist. Dalton Henry spent most of the 1st half on the bench with 2 fouls and wasn't really a factor.

Williams would struggle in the 2nd half hitting just 2/6 from 3pt and Henry even with limited PT would lead his team with 7 rebounds to go with 4 pts, but it was backup SR PG J. Hulls who would be the hero scoring 15 of his 17 pts in the 2nd half including a 3pt with 2.2 seconds to play to force Overtime!!! (68-68)

The Broncos would enter OT, looking like they were out of gas and would play like it. AJ Akpan would miss all 4 of his shot attempts including 0/3 from 3pt after playing well in regulation leading the Broncos with 21 pts. JR S. Hicks would struggle as well finishing with a career low 5 pts but did lead the team with 7 boards. In the end Indiana unselfish play (24 assists) was just to much to handle as they continued to show they were among the nations best.
              FINAL SCORE BSU-76 INDIANA-89

              KEY PLAYERS

              D. Wiley-16 pts 4 reb 4/7 3pt
              AJ Akpan-21 pts 7/15 FG 1/4 3pt 6/7 FT
              S. Hicks-5 pts 7 reb
              A. Diarra-10 pts 5 reb
              BSU Bench-14 pts 7 reb 2/10 3pt

              J. Hulls (Bench)-17 pts 4 asst 8/11 FG
              SR SG M. Cheek-17 pts 1/4 3pt
              FR PG M. Williams-16 pts 9 asst, 6/12 FG 4/8 3pt
              FR PF D. Henry-4 pts 7 reb 3 stls

POST GAME COMMENTS BY COACH D

You have to give them credit, they played solid basketball the entire game. Their depth and unselfishness in the end was what beat us. Our guy's were out of gas and that is my fault for not using my bench better. However anytime a team out steals the ball 16-6 against you that is going to give them more oppotunities to shoot the ball.

                  BRONCOS BATTLE NOLES AND MARTINEZ

                  (4-6) @ (7-3)

                  GAME/OPPONENT PREVIEW

FSU opened the season with a shocking 77-81 loss to Idaho in OT, but have gone on to go 5-1 at home (loss to Indiana) (Beat teams including Washington,Minnesota and Seton Hall with 5 Sophs including starting PF K. Hacker (84) and Center F. Korajick (83) and 4 Freshman including starters PG M. Crenshaw (75), SG L. Martinez (82) and SF D. Tolic (83), the Seminoles are built for winning now and in the future.

Coach D- "It's going to take our best team effort in order to beat these guy's but the fact that 2 of their 3 losses are at home, I feel it gives us a chance."

                  THE GAME

Early foul troulbe for FSU would force Coach Hamilton to use his bench early and often in the 1st half but SR SG M. Snaer would deliver hitting 3/3 3pt to help give FSU the 31-29 lead.
Martinez was quite scoring just 2 pts but did dish out a team high 4 asst.
                  A. Legee came off the bench to lead BSU with 8 pts and 5 rebs.

In the 2nd half both teams would play great as SO F Korajkic showed why he is considered a possible 1st round draft pick. The 7'0 scored 14 of his 17 pts and blocked a career high 6 block shots, well FR D. Tolic added a double double with 12 pts 12 reb, but the Broncos would not be outdone. 6th man A. Legee matched Tolic's double double with his own and D. Wiley hit 3/4 3pt to score a team high 16 pts, but it was SO PG D. Fields who was the man. Fields would hit his 2nd 3pt of the night with 1.8 seconds to play to give BSU the upset win!!!!
                  FINAL SCORE BSU-75 FSU-74

                  KEY PLAYERS

                  D. Wiley-14 pts 6 reb 5 asst 4/7 3pt

                      BRONCOS TAKE HOME THE HARDWARE

                      GAME 1

                      VS (2-8)

The Broncos would dominate the 1st half scoring a season high 52 points and take a 11 pt lead into the half. UCSB would play well in the 2nd half matching their 1st half 41 point effort but the lead just couldn't be overcome.
                      FINAL SCORE BSU-99 UCSB-82

                      CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

                      VS (4-5)

UMKC defeated Holy Cross 77-69 to make it to the Championship game and would give BSU a challenge in the 1st have as SR K. Korver showed off his shooting skills hitting 4/6 from 3pt, but the Broncos would still take a 44-40 lead into the half.

In the 2nd half the duo of S. Hicks and A. Diarra was just to much for the Kangaroos to handle as the duo combined to score 28 of BSU's 41 pts as the Broncos took home the hardware and won their 3rd straight game for the 1st time all season.
                      FINAL SCORE BSU-85 UMKC-74

                      COACH D COMMENTS

It's great to see S. Hicks playing well, after back to back games with under 10 pts. With M. Mbaye out, we need him to step up and help A. Diarra down low with the scoring load. I am disappointed with our 3pt shooting of late. Especially this game (4/15) D. Wiley was 0/5. We need to get back in the gym and work on our shots.

"With 5 teams who havn't loss a game all year and another 7 who have only 1 loss, this looks to be a year in which no one will be able to predict a favorite for the National Title. With 7 teams from the Big East in the Top-25, the Big East once again are out to prove they are the toughest Conference in College Basketball. It will be interesting to see if the ACC (5 teams) or Pac-10 (4 teams) can prove differently. The lack of other powerhouse programs (SEC-3, Big Ten-2, Big 12-1??) and Major Conferences (CUSA-1, A-10-1, MWC-1) leave us wondering will someone surprise us by years end???

"It looks like a weird year for Utah State. Normally one of the top Mid-Majors and top teams in the WAC, the Aggies are struggling having lost 3 straight.. Nevada however is playing well entering WAC play with a 5 game win streak since losing to #14 Utah 76-74. The Broncos are coming into Conference play on a 3 game win streak and will once again look to finish among the Top-2 teams as they battle the Wolfpack for the Title. Fresno State is the darkhorse as they like Boise State have had a roller coaster type season losing 3 straight, winning 3 straight, losing 3 straight and now are coming into WAC play with a 3 game win streak as well.

                            Comments by ESPN's Ryne Scott-

Looks like D. Tenholder is the front runner for FOY right now. He is lighting it up. The Duo of Williams and Henry have Indiana among the nation's best right now, but the biggest surprises are the lack of production from former #1 Overall Logan Martinez as well as Villanova's Ghost Watson and VCU's Ian McLaughlin. Martinez's #'s are probably down because FSU has such a solid team, but McLaughlin's #'s are key if VCU is going to turn things around and make another NCAA turn from the Colonial. I am not sure what to think right now of Ghost Watson. He doesn't shoot the ball, and when he does it doesn't go in.

                            COACH DEROZAN'S COMMENTS

"We need to improve our 3pt shooting. Especially D. Wiley. Last year he hit 40% from 3pt and that is where we need his #'s to be again this year if we are going to make a run in the WAC. AJ Akpan has had a up and down season so far. He has played great at times and other games has disappeared. We will need him to be more consistant as well."

Okay so I am caught up on posting. I might try and get in a Recap of some of the WAC games I sim tonight, but if not should be tomoroow night. I have alot of things I need to get down around the house being how I was gone during my other 2 days off out of town.

I hope everyone is enjoying the read. I am looking forward to next season already with the huge addition of more boardmembers caps. I must admit, I am sorta looking forward to Coach Derozan's next chapter in his life as well. That is why I have always loved Closed Legacies, because you were always excited at the end of the year to see if your coach got a bigger and better job offer, but Coach D has alot of work still to be done here in Boise. We havn't made a Final 4 yet..
