I hate when my big men lay it up instead of dunking the ball. So disappointing. -

Yeah, all of my big men have problems finishing. It is strange. Players rated far lower at drexel and norfolk state did not have these problems. It is something i will need to work on.Comment

Re: The Accidental Career of Guy West (CH2k8)
Is West Losing His Touch?
After Kansas State's 87-49 destruction of Southeast Louisiana, fans and media were not particularly interested in the Wildcat's first win in weeks against a small conference minnow.
Instead, questions surrounded the Wildcat's strange silence regarding the recruiting trail. While West indicated that he would not talk about recruiting in progress, he surely is beginning to see the scrutiny power conference teams face on the recruiting trail compared to his stints at Drexel and Norfolk State. West has developed a reputation as a very strong recruiter.
But reputation and reality do not seem to mesh, as evidenced by the following early season commitment recruiting report:
Kansas State 2016-2017 Mid-Season Recruiting Recruiting NAME POS CLASS HOMETOWN HT WT CALIBER N/A
Before the season, fans expected West to bring in top recruits, and so far he has brought in nothing for the program. Various recruit tracking services showed that West has offered his five scholarships to a number of recruits, but they ended up choosing other programs, such as Wisconsin or Alabama. West seems to have set the bar high, but is not able to land the class he thought he might be able to.
When pressed further on the subject, West had this to say, "I am confident in our ability to get good use of our five scholarships. But they need to be players who fit with where our program is going to go. Big names are great, but players who are willing to work together are what we need. And to be honest, Kansas State is not the program that jumps to recruits' minds when they think about playing college basketball. We have to make inroads and we have to sell ourselves."
With the recent public spat between coach and captain, Guy West looks like he has a lot of selling to do both on and off the court. Reaction has been mixed in Manhattan about West's willingness to publicly criticize the program, and even the most fervent West supporters have to be disappointed with a lack of early commitments.
"I want to turn Kansas State into a national powerhouse, but right now we're starting from practically square zero. We're running with Seniors and a few other pieces. We have a history of losing and a lot of bodies to replace. That isn't going to happen overnight."
Well, the clock's ticking.Comment

It's tough to offer out your scholarships and have the recruits sign elsewhere, but if that is going to happen, better to happen sooner rather than later. At least you have the rest of the season to reset your target list and go at some fresh new recruits.
If I'm not mistaken, I caught a hint in another thread that you found a "big" recruit. Can't wait to see if that is true or if I'm mistake.Comment

Recruit reports say that he is mulling a number of scholarship offers, although none blew him away. Top remaining for his services are believed to be East Carolina, Drexel*, and Kansas State. No word on who he will choose, only that he is going to take his time and is in no hurry to decide where to go to college.

Re: The Accidental Career of Guy West (CH2k8)
This game has stood the test of time like few I have seen or played. I find myself choosing this over NBA 2k12 more often than not even though it is 5 years old because I have so much invested in this dynasty.
I will also point you to this thread and forum for further discussion of any questions you might have: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...love-game.html
Short answer: this is quite possibly the best $3.50 I have ever spent on a game.Comment

Re: The Accidental Career of Guy West (CH2k8)
LOL someone voted me down and gave me a 1 star review. Thanks!
Fun fact: when I started this dynasty I was kind of hoping to keep it going while having a 1-2 star aggregate review score. The dream is still alive!Comment

Anyways, good luck as you are nearing the end of the non-conference portion. Hopefully you guys can start to gel better by the time you play in January/February.“If you’re true to yourself, you’re going to be true to everyone else.”Comment

Downpour
There are no consolation prizes in basketball.
If the game only consisted of the opening minutes of each half, the Wildcats would have won in a landslide. Kansas State opened the game on fire in the first half leading by as big as a 12-4 margin. Then Alabama went on a 40-22 run for the rest of the half.
Despite being down 10, West's team banded together to score the first 10 points of the second half to make the game even. Then the Tide rolled on a 44-19 run to close out an 88-63 victory.
The Crimson Tide could not be stopped from beyond the arc, or anywhere else.
Alabama is not known for having effective three point shooting, but tonight they might as well have been shooting in the ocean (which should still be difficult from Manhattan, KS). Tonight the Wildcats had more problems than answers. On top of playing very poor perimeter defense, the Wildcats coughed up 8 more turnovers and surrendered numerous offensive rebounds to the Tide.
The teams were classes apart as is. Allow Alabama to get hot from beyond the arc and it was no contest.

Coach's Take: Darwin Peterson pulled his weight. I can live with some turnovers in the paint because he was throwing his body around and being aggressive. But he can't do it by himself. Players need to stop standing around when the ball goes to the post and start moving. It's something we'll emphasize in practice for sure. We weren't in position to get loose balls because we were caught flat-footed. That's a good way to make any game lopsided in a hurry.
What's Next: the Kansas State Wildcats limp their way to Philadelphia for a reunion with West's former team, #23 Drexel.Comment

Re: The Accidental Career of Guy West (CH2k8)
Tough loss, Bama was just on a separate level that night. Big game from Peterson, but like you said the rest of the team needs to move around once the ball gets in the post (I know exactly what you're talking about and it infuriates me to no end).
Limping into Drexel, this should be interesting. I wonder what the crowd will be like.My Dynasties
