The Career of Coach Mike Quattrocchi (CH2k8)

Hello Operation Sports! Way back in 2007 when this game came out, I had a dynasty post on the 2k forums that I had a ton of fun with and had quite a few peeps reading. I was at Norfolk State and got through one season before life got hectic and I stopped updating. I was reading through superjames1992's Coach Frizzell legacy recently and got a severe itch to pick this game up again and do another legacy here. The game is incredibly rare in my neck of the woods and I had to get a local gamer store to order it for me. I should have a copy in a couple weeks and I was wanting to get some feedback before I get started.

    Things I know,

I will be starting with Norfolk St. again. I loved playing in the MEAC and want to go back to the Spartans and build them up once more. I will be playing all of the games on MOP and posting on each one. There will be no house rules recruiting restrictions for the first couple seasons but that will be subject to change. The idea is to build a thread that just may rival superjames1992's

What I'd like to hear from all of you about....

Would it be more readable for all of you if I started back in the 07-08 season or should I download a roster set with the current players?

If I do download a current roster set, will it fast forward the game to the current season, or will it still be 07-08 but with current players?

Im toying with the idea of getting one of the slider sets. bloc500 seems to be pretty popular for MOP, are there other slider sets that I should look at? Ideas? Suggestions?

Anything you guys have to say about what you look for in a readable dynasty would be greatly appreciated. I just want to have some fun being a sports game nerd and have a thread that people enjoy reading and posting on.

Thanks in advance for your advice and support. Hope to hear from you soon. Cheers.

    -Coach Q.

    Well, let's start in order.

    1) I would like for you to go back and start with the 2007-08 season. One reason would be that the makers of the game provided the ratings and the current roster set, if it isn't coming from the makers directly, could have been created with objective ratings based on the roster set provider's own thinking. No offense to those making the rosters, I just prefer the ones by the makers of the game.

    2) The game will more than likely start with the same schedule as 2007-08 but with current players.

    3) I feel that you should try all of the MOP slider settings provided and choose the ones that work for you.

    4) As far as these dynasties are concerned: if you build it, I will come. The differences in the styles produces a great variety.
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a soldier.

One more thing. I think at least for the first few seasons, maybe more, I will give preferential treatment in the non-conference schedule to teams that all of you are playing with. Here is a partial list from things I have been reading. Feel free to add.......

        Princeton
        Brown
        San Fransisco
        Bucknell
        Vanderbilt
        West Virginia
        Southern Illinois
        Colgate
        Albany (NY)

Ah, now I remember you Neb84! Back in the good 'ole 2K Legacy forums! Long time, no see!

Those were the days, but they unfortunately died out. Fortunately, a lot of the active members from the 2K Legacy forums post here now.

Whichever is fine, but I'd just assume go with an 07-08 set. Otherwise, the years are off in regards to the rosters. Besides, being at Norfolk State, rosters won't mean much, anyways, as most of us aren't very familiar with the vast majority of non-power conference teams.

It will still be 2007-2008, but with current rosters, which I don't particularly like.

You could try the ones I posted in my legacy thread. They were based on NDAlum's from several years back, but I've changed them quite a bit since. I don't know if they're all that great, really, but after switching around quite a bit at the beginning, I just decided to settle in with them for the long run and it's worked out alright. I've had to tweak a few things as I became better, but nothing major.

I think the main advice I can give is just not to try to do too much or you'll get burned out and quit posting your legacy. That has happened to me before in past dynasties, but with my current coaching legacy (now ~4 years running...), I posted very quick and concise updates when I first started. Since then, my updates have grown progressively longer, but my updates still only take ~20 minutes for each game and ~10 minutes for the weekly wrapup (top 25/conference standings). I just don't have the stomach for making my updates any longer and I would burn out quickly.

Oh, and please look at this site! It makes posting box scores, standings, ect. so much easier and quicker! There's no way I would post full box scores for each game if it weren't for this site (made by Operation Sports' very own Pujols4MVP)!

Norfolk State Fires Head Basketball Coach

The Norfolk State University AD has announced that the team will be searching for a new coach in the off-season after the team suffered through an unsatisfying 11-19 season, their fifth consecutive losing season. Former head coach Dennis Brown was reserved at his final news conference saying that he had hopped that he would be able to coach the Spartans next season, but understood that at this level, wins are everything and "you can't expect to be under .500 for five straight years and still have a job".

Head assistant coach Anthony Evans is the early favorite to succeed Brown, however the AD has assured the university and the fan base that a vigorous search will be held, and that "the best man for the job will be our next head coach". No names besides Evans have been connected to the Norfolk State position as of this writing.

                        Anthony Evans Not A Candidate

In a surprising move, The Norfolk State University has announced that the top assistant under former head coach Dennis Brown, and heir apparent to the programs head position, Anthony Evans, is no longer being considered for the head coaching vacancy. "Coach Evans has given the Norfolk State University men's basketball program many wonderful years of dedication but due to irrevocable differences in our respective visions for the future of our program, we will not be offering coach Evans a contract to be our head coach", said the university AD in a press release late yesterday.

This development creates a nearly unprecedented situation for the University, where a head coaching vacancy may be filled by an individual with no ties to the program they will lead. The dismissal of Evans as a viable candidate means that there are no realistic options to fill the vacancy from inside of the program. When asked whether the university had anyone specific on their radar, the AD was dismissive, "We are conducting a vigorous search for our next head coach. We are looking for someone who has integrity, an understanding of the importance of our historically black student enrollment, a strong and charismatic personality, and someone who wants to be here in Norfolk Virginia and help build our program."

Messages requesting comment from Anthony Evans were not immediately returned.
