COACH WALLS GETS FIRST CAREER WIN

11/6/11 - Martin, TN: After being down by 8 in the first half to Richmond, the Skyhawks stepped up to win down the stretch 73-70.

"Minor got that clutch steal and lay-up to take the lead with about 25 seconds left and we played great defense to stop them" commented Walls, "It feels really good to get our first win of the year."

Coach Walls had to pull a few tricks out of the bag in order to win this game.

"In practice, we have mainly stuck to a man defense and some 2-3 zone. But the Richmond backcourt was getting to the hoop with no trouble at all. I ended up switching to a 1-3-1 zone which we have practiced but not very much. We were willing to sacrifice the baseline since they were breaking down our defense from the top of the key. That switch on defense turned out to be the turning point."

It also cannot be ignored that David Walls and company beat the team that knocked out the coach's last team out of the NCAA tournament.

"There was definitely a little bit of revenge on my mind" laughed Walls, "But I really respect coach Anderson of Richmond and he will do great things wherever he goes."

Coach Martinez Minute: Well, that certainly wasn't pretty. I figured we would be in for a tough matchup since UNC Asheville is the preseason favorite to win the Big South, but I expected to put up a better fight than this.

The score as bad as it was, isn't even indicative of how the game played out. We couldn't throw a rock into the ocean tonight. We crashed the glass hard, though we couldn't capitalize on those second chance opportunities.

Considering we opened the season at home, I expected a lot more from this group. Still, we're very young and have a long time to grow. I will be changing the starting lineup in the next game to see which personnel groups flourish together.

Side Note: I updated the first post of this thread with the settings/sliders we will be using for this legacy.

        vs.
UNC Greensboro (0-1) vs. Georgia Tech (1-0)
        Alexander Memorial Coliseum
        Atlanta, GA
        November 9th, 2011

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets stung the visiting UNC Greensboro Spartans this evening 81-53. Georgia Tech led 56-22 at halftime and led 70-26 early in the second half before UNCG began to mount a comeback with Georgia Tech's backups receiving most of the playing time. In the end, the Spartans closed to within 28 points, but there was no mistaking that this was a flat-out embarrassment for UNC Greensboro.

"This isn't the way we wanted to start the season," said UNCG's Coach Frizzell. "This isn't the way I wanted to start out my career, either."

Georgia Tech could seemingly do no wrong all game long. The Yellow Jackets shot 59% from the field, including 50% from distance.

UNCG's three-point shooting was really the line positive that the Spartans can take away from this one. The Spartans shot seven-for-15 from beyond the arc. Korey VanDussen hit four of UNCG's threes en route to 12 points.

Nick Paulos led the Spartans with 13 points and three rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets were led in scoring by Brandon Reed, who shot eight-for-12 from the field as he tallied 18 points and four assists. Jason Morris totaled 13 points and three steals. Julian Royal neared a double-double with 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals while Glen Rice, Jr. added 12 points and a pair of blocks.

The Spartans will play their first home game of the season next week as they will attempt to gain their first victory of the season against the High Point Panthers. High Point University is located within a 30-minute drive from UNCG's campus and both sides are ready to hit the hardwood and take their game to the other team.

And I just played Oregon (imagine how that went). Time for UNCW.

Yes, I'll have some write ups in a little while. Self employment is actually starting to generate some work, which is nice.

Hope that NCAA is decent and doesn't have crippling bugs.

The tendency issue from last year's game scared me off this year. At least from an early purchase. It totally destroyed my Wake Forest dynasty and made winning the national championship in my 5th year feel totally empty (oh, spoiler alert for thread I can no longer update).

From what I've seen so far, it's pretty good. The game is everything NCAA 12 should've been. As long as there isn't a game-breaking bug found again I'll have a lot of fun in my OD this year.

BTW, finished my game against Illinois State. Superjames is up, then I play again.

I'm going on vacation on July 15th, so if you all want to simulate my games while I'm gone, that is fine with me.

I will be back on July 23rd, but probably won´t be able to get a game in until July 24th. Feel free to sim my game if you all want. I know it´s been awhile.

I didn´t get internet access until now (I am in Porto, Portugal right now after being in Lisbon from the 15th-20th), so I wasn´t able to tell you all sooner.

Lol, it's ok. We've all been taking a bit of a hiatus from the dynasties based on this boards activity. I've been playing NCAA myself. Since it's not college bball season, I was expecting this to go rather slowly. We'll pick it up at some point soon I imagine.
