I didn't use post-draft rosters because I felt like it would make it unrealistic for the first season because they didn't have Sullinger and Melo last season.

        BLOWOUT IN BOSTON, ADVANTAGE CELTICS
BOSTON, MA - FEBRUARY 4: Dirk Nowitzki #41 of the Dallas Mavericks looks to drive against Kevin Garnett #5 of the Boston Celtics on February 4, 2011 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
BOSTON -- The Celtics returned to Boston for the weekend and boy did they look happy to be back home. They trumped the Mavericks 97-78 Friday night in front of a sell out crowd.

The Celtics looked like little kids when they were out there on the court. They just looked like they were having a fun time and loving what they were doing. Boston led by 7 going into the half, and the fans thought they might be treated to a game that would go down to the wire.

The 3rd quarter saw the Celtics go on an 11-2 run to blow the game wide open. The Mavericks would never recover and the rest was history.

"I thought our team played Celtic basketball tonight," said Doc Rivers. "We were energized, focused, and most of all we gave 110% effort on every play."

The Celtics finished with 6 players in double figures led by Paul Pierce with 22 points.

"Everyone played great tonight," said Pierce. "This was a good win for the team and the city of Boston."

Rodrigue Beaubois led the Mavericks in scoring with 22 points, but he shot a measly 2-10 from the 3 point line.

You could see the fatigue in the Mavericks as they played their second game of a back-to-back. They were sluggish and looked like a team that wasn't ready to play at all.

The Celtics wrap up the weekend home stand against the unbeaten Bulls Sunday night.

DEFENSE SHINES LATE AS CELTICS HAND BULLS FIRST LOSS
BOSTON, MA - JANUARY 13: Paul Pierce #34 and Brandon Bass #30 of the Boston Celtics fight with Joakim Noah #13 of the Chicago Bulls for the rebound on January 13, 2012 at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The Chicago Bulls defeated the Boston Celtics 79-88.
BOSTON -- Fans came to this game expecting a defensive slugfest, but instead got an offensive explosion by both teams. Defense was prevalent late as the Celtics hung on to beat the Bulls 103-102

Boston trailed for most of the game. At some points the deficit reached 15 points. A 10-2 run in the 3rd quarter and a strong 4th quarter got them back into the game.

They continued to catch fire, led by the defensive intensity of Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett.

"Me and Kevin decided to put the clamps on them in the second half," said Rondo. "We did it and it got us back into the game."

The defensive intensity showed on the last play of the game when Vince Carter drove to the basket as the time dwindled down to under 5.0 seconds. Ray Allen and Brandon Bass smothered Carter as he went up for the lay-up. Carter was not able to get a clean look at the basket and missed the lay-up. Kevin Garnett grabbed the rebound and threw it up in the air as timed expired.

"We got a stop when it counted most," said Brandon Bass. "I saw him driving out the corner of my eye, so I ran over and went straight up to contest the shot and it worked."

Carter and the rest of the Bulls team pleaded for a foul as time expired, but it was too little too late as the officials were already on their way back to the lockeroom.

"I'm not going to comment, because now they'll fine you for all you have if you say one thing about the officials," said Carter after the game. "All I have to say is referees should be required to take an eye exam before every season. Interpret that how you want, but I that's all that came out my mouth."

Carter can expect a fine coming from the league within the next 2 days.

The Celtics will head out west for a 3 game road trip that will end on Friday. Their first opponent will be the Warriors Tuesday night in Oakland.

The Celtics travel out west for the interconference battle. The Warriors boast sharp shooters Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. This will be the Celtics first time this season on the west coast. If they slow down the Warriors' guards then they should get the win.

OAKLAND -- The Celtics traveled out west to begin a 3 game road trip and started it off on the right foot when they beat the Warriors 102-99.

Paul Pierce had an answer for everything tonight. Whenever the Celtics needed a bucket they gave the ball to Pierce and he went to work.

"I'm a scorer and that's what I've done my whole career," said Pierce. "When my team needs a bucket I always know they can depend on me to get the job done."

Pierce would finish with a game-high 23 points. Kevin Garnett pitched in with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

The Warriors ended the 1st quarter with the lead, but the 2nd quarter was a totally different story.

The Celtics would outscore the Warriors 34-13 in the 2nd quarter, which included a 14-0 run. The Warriors would never see the lead again. Although they would challenge for the lead, pulling within as close as 1 point, Paul Pierce would quickly shut the door as he did all night.

"It just shows how deep our team is this year," said Doc Rivers after the game. "This is probably one of the deepest teams I've had in a while. Anyone can show up on any given night and have a good game."

Stephen Curry led the Warriors in scoring with 22 points.

"We got down early and were just never able to recover again," said Curry. "We tip our hats to them, because they were the better team tonight."

The Celtics have little time to celebrate as they will be in Utah tomorrow night to face the Jazz.

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Celtics and Jazz provided a great game for the fans that came out to watch. Kevin Garnett (shown) would step up and hit the game winning shot as the Celtics defeated the Jazz 95-93.

The Celtics showed the mental toughness of a champion during this game. For 3 quarters the Celtics controlled the game with much ease, leading by as much as 17 at some points.

The Celtics did make a big mistake though.....they took their foot off the gas pedal after 3 quarters. "That's something we can't do," said Doc Rivers. "When we have a lead we have to keep putting it on the other team. It's impossible to keep a lead if you are going to drive the car with the parking brake on."

The Jazz climbed their way back into and eventually tied the game up. With 30.2 seconds left Kevin Garnett backed down Paul Millsap and turned over his shoulder to sink a right-handed hook shot to put the Celtics up by 2.

Rajon Rondo would steal the ensuing inbound pass by the Jazz. He slowed it down, cleared everyone out and gave it to Garnett once again. This time he faced up, hit Millsap with a jab step, and suck a 15 foot jumper to seal the game for the Celtics with 10.6 seconds left.

"It's feels good to know that these guys have confidence in me to give me the ball late," said Kevin Garnett.

Paul Pierce finished with a game-high 29 points as the Celtics extend this winning streak to 4 games. Rajon Rondo also finished with a season-high 15 assists.

The Celtics will travel to Sacramento Friday night to close out this 3 game road trip.

SACRAMENTO -- If you judged the game by the scoreboard one might have thought that this was a close, highly contested game, but the Celtics led wire to wire to beat the Kings 85-81.

Paul Pierce led the Celtics in scoring once again finishing with 18 points. He has led them in scoring in 4 out of the last 5 games; including all the games during this road trip.

The Celtics played a very good first half; executing on a number of offensive sets. The first half was led by the floor general Rajon Rondo.

"I feel like it is my job to get my teammates where and when they want it," said Rondo. "If I do that then I think we can win every night we step out on the floor."

The 3rd quarter saw the Boston Celtics jump on the Kings and gain a 16 point lead. The Kings would counter that run with one of their own to keep the game within grasp.

Eric Gordon led a 4th quarter charge by the Kings which saw them cut the deficit to 2, but Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo would rally the troops together and regain a comfortable margin.

"It's part of the growing pains," said Eric Gordon after the game. "We are a young team with a bright future. We have to have a couple of nightmares before we can get to our dreams first."

Rajon Rondo finished with another double-double recording 13 points and 11 assists. He only finished 2 steals shy of a triple-double.

The Celtics will travel home for a quick home game Sunday against the Bobcats. After that it's back out on the road for another 3 game road trip.

Al Jefferson signed a 5yr/$97.85M extension to stay in Utah.

The Clippers are rumored to be shopping around SG Nick Young. Young has repeatedly stated his discontent with being on the Clippers, and it is starting to become detrimental to the team.

Jason Terry announced that he would be retiring at season's end. He held a press conference for the announcement. He was very emotional and stated that, "It's time for me to go. These legs just don't work like they use to." Terry's numbers have dropped considerably this year as he has been demoted to a lesser role since he signed with the Lakers

The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to struggle as their record stands at a poorish 1-7. Injuries have not plagued this team, it is just a lack of chemistry and focus on the part of the leaders of that team. Fans are hoping they can turn around their season soon.

BOSTON -- The Celtics would score the first basket of the game and would only cruise from there as they beat the Bobcats 101-92 for their 6th straight victory.

The scoreboard may have indicated that the game was close, but it was anything but. The Celtics jumped out to a 22 point lead at halftime behind Rajon Rondo's 16 points.

"I wanted to get us off to a good start tonight," said Rondo. "I felt like I had to go out there with a scorer's mentality to do that."

Rondo would revert back to a pass first point guard in the 2nd half to help Kevin Garnett on his way to 31 points for the night. The Celtics would stretch the lead to as much as 25 points in the 3rd quarter.

The 4th quarter saw the Bobcats try to make a run, but could only cut the deficit to 9 points at the most.

"This is what happen when you get down early," said Tyrus Thomas who led his team in scoring with 20 points. "There's no way you can get down by 25 points and expect to come back all in one quarter. That's just crazy."

Rondo finished with a season-high 16 assists. He was looking to distribute more in the 2nd half after he got his buckets in the 1st half.

"I feel like I'm the best point guard in the league right now," said Rondo. "If you look at my stat lines every night, and the impact I have on the floor I think it proves that I am."

"We played great," said Doc Rivers. "It just looked like one of those night where nothing could stop us. Ray, Paul, and Kevin were all on point and that's what we need from them."

The Celtics will return to the road for another 3 games. They will face the Wizards Tuesday night, followed by Houston and Orlando later in the week.
