How would amnesty work if the real life team already used it?

To answer that question, if your team has already used their amnesty clause then it is no longer at your disposal. It would only be available to those user-Gm's whose real life team has not used the amnesty clause yet as would be the case for BaysideKings' sacramento kings. Or in my case, the 76ers have used their amnesty clause on Elton Brand so that would no longer be an option to me.

Basically, if its available to you it works this way - ie., let's pretend your team is the Nebraska Corn Eaters and your starting center has a contract with 3 years remaining in which he is scheduled to make 10 million per year however he's a bum and not worth the money. Now let's say you decide to amnesty this center, we'll call him Johnny Redneck for this example... Johnny Redneck's yearly remaining salary would be taken off your salary cap opening up however much he is scheduled to make. However, the team still has to pay him the remainder of his contract, it just will not count against the team's present salary cap. If you already knew that's how the amnesty button works then I apologize for assuming you were uncertain.

Tarantism, I'm all for there being a 24 hour window in which user-GM's can amnesty a player.

So that's what happened to former Vancouver Grizzlies center Bryant "Big Country" Reeves! Went from playing in the NBA to getting amnestied by the Nebraska Corn Eaters. Talking about a fall from grace.

No, you only get to use amnesty clause once in the new CBA.
