            NCAA Tournament Resume

            Team: Fairfield Stags
            Record: 26-7
            MAAC Record: 16-2
            Last 10: 9-1
            vs Top 25: 0-1
            Road/Neutral 14-7
            RPI 1-50: 0-4
            RPI 51-100: 0-0
            RPI 101-200: 13-2
            RPI 200+: 13-1
            RPI: 60

Our Say: While the Stags gained an automatic bid by winning the MAAC, their body of work does not warrant anything higher than a double-digit seed.

What Kansas State wants to do: K State wants to pound the basketball inside early in the game. Once they have established dominance in the paint, they want their senior guards to take over down the stretch.

What Fairfield wants to do: The Stags want to spread the floor with their Chin offense, and hope that their 1-3-1 defense creates long passing lanes for the Wildcats.

Prediction: Looking at the team statistics, these two teams match up very well. This has been a popular bracket upset pick, and if the three pointers fall, Fairfield will win the game.

Looks like a potentially winnable game, though it's going to take a lot of things going right (mainly, the threes going in). Good luck!

I am very happy with the draw. K State is no doubt talented, but looking at the per game averages for the teams, this is a very winnable game.

Took me three seasons, but excited to get to play in the Big Dance!

What New Orleans wants to do: The Privateers play what some would consider to be ugly basketball. They want to disrupt the rythym of the Fairfield offense by bumping cutters and slowing the game down.

What Fairfield wants to do: The Stags' plan involves getting their bigs on pick and rolls away from the basket. Spacing the floor should open avenues to drive to the basket as well as open jump shots.

Prediction: Both teams lucked out with this second round match up, and one of these Cinderellas will reach the Sweet Sixteen. Our money is on the Stags.

What Memphis wants to do: Memphis does what Memphis does. The Tigers will pressure the basketball full court and use their athletes to get into a track meet. More often than not, the other team is sucked into playing a Memphis style of basketball. First to 100 wins.

What Fairfield wants to do: Fairfield wants to break the Memphis pressure before settling down to execute their offense. They must make the Tigers defend for more than 5 or 7 seconds at a time. Defensively, Fairfield wants to limit Memphis to one shot per possession.

Prediction: The Stags run ends here as Memphis is too talented, too deep, and too good.
