Bucks Sign SG Tony Allen to a 1yr/1.22 mil deal

With that said, I will go over the key signings one by one.

Tiago is back in San Antonio

Last season, Tiago Splitter continued to establish himself as a quality big man in the NBA, averaging career highs on minutes (23.2) rebounds (5.8) and blocks (1.1) In those minutes,he scored an efficient 8.6 PPG on 53.5% shooting. He will continue to be a Key role player on this Spurs Squad and this was a good signing. He could see a decline in minutes this year, in favor of Rookie Center Willie Cauley-Stein and could be knocked even further down by free agent guard Nate Robinson, who we'll get to later.

David West Re-Ups With the Pacers, Pacers Remain Title Contenders

The Pacers are a solid team with Title aspirations. As Paul George Has developed, they may be able to do that. Especially with bringing back the same corps for the most part. David West is a great post scorer and offensive presence who has a little finesse to his game to complement Roy Hibbert's Power based post moves. The team has one of the best starting 5's in the NBA and has Danny Granger coming off of a season where he averaged 23.5 PPG.Woth the strength of the teams defense and the potent, if non-elite, ability to score should make this team one of the favorites to challenge the Heat in the East, along with Brooklyn, Detroit, Philly, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Chicago, Atlanta... You know, as much as people say, and are right about, the West being the tougher conference, the East is no sluch this year with some of the free agent acquisitions made, although the road to the title in the East runs through south be until the Heat's 3 kings are dethroned. The Pacers have a legitimate shot at doing so with the return of West giving them a vastly superior front court.

Iggy Inks deal with Hawks, vastly improves Defense over last seasons paltry Output, retain young star PG Teague

The signing of Andre Iguodala was one many predicted all along. His signing makes this team a playoff contender again. He gives them a premiere perimeter defender, something they sorely lacked last season until they got Jimmy Butler. Iggy is also an offensive and rebounding nightmare. He can shoot, pass, penetrate, handle the ball, and grab 5+ boards on every night from the 2 guard or 3-forward position. If team made an effort to slow the team down by trapping the point guard in a corner, a strategy used notoriously by the Heat, then he can run the offense with outstanding effectivity. He is a true do-it-all player and will have an immediate and positive impact on the team. Moreover, they have designed a team that can exploit the Miami Heat's flaws. They can now have a lot of passing to counteract the Heat's High pressure man-defensive style, they have multiple ball handlers so you couldn't trap the point with a double at the corner, they have a dominant front-court with Noel and Horford that can take advantage of Miami's front court. And they have to premiere wing defenders in Iggy and Butler so they can play one on one with Wade and LeBron and not have to sacrifice a man on a double team, meaning that Jacque Vaughn could play his-low help defense style and keep guys on Miami's shooters, and have Nerlens Noel Defend the Middle. None of this is possible without the versatility and talent of Andre Iguodala. They also retained the star point guard of the future Jeff Teague. He gives them a great do it all point guard who is unselfish and his the potential to be a great player in the mold of a slightly less quick Tony Parker. He is a key player in this system and retaining him was a must. They also got depth behind Iggy and Teague in 10th overall pick Tim Hardaway Jr., JJ Redick, and CJ Watson.

Nate Robinson Goes to Spurs As a Key Piece Toward Spurs Last Title Run

Nate Robinson is the sparkplug off the bench that every title contending team needs. Last season, it was Jeremy Lamb on the thunder. Before that, it was every on the heat roster not named LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. The Year before, It was Jason Terry on the Mavs, with a sprinkle of JJ Barea. MJ's Bulls had a saloon door of guys, Steve Kerr, Toni Kukoc, Gerald Hodges, etc. Robinson was born for that type of role, and he will fit seamlessly there on San Antonio. The firepower on that bench is phenomenal, with Nate, Danny Green, and Rookie Jeff Southerland. Thaw, along with the starting 5 there, primes them to be a title contender for at least the next season or too. Great move by the Spurs.

Phoenix Locks up Big Man Pekovic

The Suns have really impressed me the last season or so. Not in the win-loss column, but in the way they have assembled the roster for the future. Goran Dragic has become a very talented facilitator (averaging a double-double last year with 14.9 PPG and 10.5 APG) and is a good complement to the two guard they brought in at the trade deadline last year, Eric Gordon. Gordon, is a shooter, and a talented on. he is a great target on drive and dish plays by Dragic. The back-court is now a good tandem for the future, and the Suns' famed training staff should do wonders for Eric Gordon,as they have done to many a talented, injury prone player. Michael Beasley is still a question mark, but at least played well last year, averaging 17.6 PPG and 7.9 RPG last year while playing the 3 and four spots. Scola is still a consistent 15 point 8 board a night kinda guy who will be good for the team and better then his numbers convey. To get Eric Gordon they traded away Center Marcin Gortat. This was the right decision, but it left them with newly acquired Robin Lopez and Jermaine O'Neal at center. Bringing in Pekovic will help improve this team greatly and fill a huge hole at center. Good move by the Suns.

Clips add to bench, bring in Allen and Carter

The clippers have brought in some key, clutch, veteran role players to help the push for a title. They also brought in Devin Harris to play PG now that CP3 is gone. Ray Allen, Chauncey Billups, and Jamal Crwford will all spend time at the 2 guard spot. while Carter will mainly play the three to spell Caron Butler. While the loss of CP3 is a major blow, this team will recover, it still has a perrenial superstar in Blake Griffin and pairing him with Center Al Jefferson, who they got in a trade with Utah involving Eric Bledsoe, gives them maybe the best front-court in basketball. This is still a scary team.

Bulls bring in Birdman, adds key bench player to title contending squad

Birdman showed why he is still relevant in this league last year. He played very limited action last year in Miami but made an impact. He usually only made about one basket a game in 9 minutes of action, but that one basket would be a momentum builder 90% of the time. He would usually score on a ferocious offensive putback, that boosted the teams spirits when they were at a low point, and at that moment, it would spark a run ti help the team take obver the game and win. Thats the type of play he need to be able to achieve here in Chicago. He is a spark on the bench, he doesn't do much, but he does something important, and its a necessary piece to the title squad.

Millsap signs tender with Jazz, Sticks Around For One More Year
This is pretty self-explanatory. Restricted free agent Paul Millsap is returning to Utah for one year on his RFA tender. He will be paid around 9 million dollars. His role will be the same as last and he will likely be traded this season and if not will likely not be retained next season.

Bucks make a HUGE Free Agent splash, land Dwight, retain Jennings, sign Allen

The Bucks have made themselves a legit threat in the east with the unfathomably unpredictable Dwight Howard signing. Oh, but then again, it's Dwight. Many Believed after his DPOY campaign he would stay in LA, but he flip flopped his opinion for a while and decided Milwaukee was better? What? Not to say Milwaukee is a bad place but seriously, the Bucks, over the Lakers? Sigh... Either way, this is a great roster for him , so maybe titles really are at the forefront of his mind. with the return of Brandon Jennings, the trade for Evan Turner, and the trade for Derrick Williams, they have a solid group of floor spacing shooters for Dwight, and Tony Allen is the best perimeter defender in the league. This is like a better version of his orlando squad. And now they have real title aspirations.

Rockets add some talent, but how will they fit?

I'm very confused with the offseason of the Rockets, they brought in some good players, but they all do the same thing and I don't know how they will mesh. Marcus Smart is a combo Guard who is learning the position and could develop into a stud but needs time. He reminds me of a more point guardedly version of James Harden. The you have Jeremy Lin, another point guard, Aaron Brooks, another Point guard, JArrett Jack, another point guard, James HArden, a star 2 guard, and JR Smith, a star 2 guard. Oh, and they brought back Rip Hamilton. So thats seven players to play at two spot, maybe three if you think that JR andRip can play 3 in a pinch. That is the definition of LOGJAM. We'll see how it plays out.

Another Day, Another Logjam... Hornets Sign Big man Carlos Boozer

Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson, Carlos Boozer, Kelly Olynyk, Cody Zeller, and Marcin Gortat. No way New Orleans can Keep ALL of them happy. At least if need be, Booozer is a minimum contract that can be cut or moved without any trouble. And Olynyk and Zeller are rookies so they can live with a year on the pine. But even still its crowded. Depth in the frontcourt is important but this is outrageous.

Warriors retain Landry, keep core together, ready to develop and make deep run.

The Warriors are a talented and Deep team. They Have a great starting five in Curry, Thompson, Barnes, Lee, and Bogut. on the Bench they signed pat beverley and drafted Otto Porter. Brandon rush showed up last year as well. Draymond green is a great piece to have in your rotation, and now the return of Landry gives you a talented scoring high post big off the bench who is a hustle guy. This is a playoff team. With some time, it could be a title contender.

CP3 Signs with Pistons, make Pistons a top tier team in the East

Chris Paul is headed to Detroit to pear up with Greg Monroe. He will have a great off ball scorer next to him in Brandon Knight as it is expected that Stucky will be traded soon for a quality small forward who plays on ball defense. Monroe will likely play the 4 with Drummond playing the 5. Maxiell will provide good depth while Gorgui Dieng is an outstanding prospect who can contribute defensively from day one. There is also depth on the wing and in the backcourt to pair with the ********* front court. Jose Calderon is a good player who can shoot the three well enough to play point or shooting guard. they Also drafted rookie PG Brandon young in the second round and have second rounder from last year Kim English at the two. The weakness of this team is at small forward. And that can be remedies once Stuckey gets traded.

CP3 leaving LA for Detroit? The city that just filed for Bankruptcy? *shakes head*

And the Carlos Loozer ending up in NOLA. I'll take Ryan Anderson over him anyday of the week.

D12 with the Bucks? Man ... whacky FA.

Yeah I know. Alas, that's the one drawback of not doing a 30 team controlled.

          NBA Preseason Power Rankings

          By Brian Windhorst

The NBA season opener is just days away, on October 30th there will be a triple-header of Bulls vs Wizards at 7 pm eastern, Suns vs Hornets in a game that has become a bit of a rivalry since the Eric Gordon trade at 7:30 eastern, and at 8 a primetime matchup between the Celtics, who feature number one overall pick Ben McLemore on their squad, and the Miami Heat, in a heated rivalry contest that many see the Heat winning thoroughly. Now, without further ado, her are The NBA Power Rankings Preseason Edition:

1- Miami Heat (predicted record: 61-21, 1st in East)
2- Oklahoma City Thunder (60-22, 1st in West)
          3- Chicago Bulls (58-24, 2nd in East)
          4- Indiana Pacers (56-26, 3rd in East)
5- San Antonio Spurs (57-25 2nd in West)
          6- Brooklyn Nets (54-28, 4th in East)
          7- Denver Nuggets (55-27, 3rd in West)
8- Golden State Warriors (53-29, 4th in West)
          9- Milwaukee Bucks (49-33, 5th in East)
          10- Detroit Pistons (47-35, 6th in East)
          11- LA Clippers (46-36, 5th in West)
          12- Phoenix Suns (45-37, 6th in West)
          13- Philadelphia 76ers (45-37, 7th in East)
          14- Memphis Grizzlies (43-39, 7th in West)
          15- Minnesota Timberwolves (42-40, 8th in West)
          16- Atlanta Hawks (43-39, 8th in East)
          17- Cleveland Cavaliers (41-41, 9th in East)
          18- Portland Trailblazers (41-41, 9th in West)
19- New Orleans Hornets (40-42, 10th in West)
20- New York Knicks (39-43, 10th in East)
          21- Washington Wizards (39-43, 11th in East)
          22- Utah Jazz (38-44, 11th in West)
          23- Houston Rockets (37-45, 12th in West)
          24- Dallas Mavericks (36-46, 13th in West)
          25- Toronto Raptors (34-48, 12th in East)
          26- Orlando Magic (32-50, 13th in East)
          27- LA Lakers (29-53, 14th in West)
          28- Boston Celtics (28-54, 14th in East)
          29- Sacramento Kings (25-57, 15th in West)
          30- Charlotte Bobcats (23-59, 15th in West)

I've come to the conclusion the the Eastern Conference has leapfrogged the West after seeing Dwight and CP3 join the East. 4 out of the top 5 players (LeBron, CP3, D12, 'Melo in the East, and Kobe in the West)are in the East, and all of them are leading different teams, AND all of them, except Carmelo Anthony, have the pieces around them to be title contenders. LeBron has Wade and Bosh. Chris Paul has Greg Monroe, Brandon Knight, and Andre Drummond with a deep bench. Dwight is on a team with two young stars in Brandon Jennings and Evan Turner, while being surrounded by three point shooters and having the best perimeter defender in Basketball in Tony Allen. The Pacers are also outstanding with a superstar of their own in Paul George and have a great team. The Bulls have the 6th best player in my mind in Derrick Rose and he may be better than Anthony. He also has Josh Smith and Joakim Noah, and Luol Deng, and Birdman, and Taj Gibson. Brooklyn is also in the discussion with Deron Williams and Joe Johnson, and Brook Lopez. there are 6 title contenders in the East, vs probably two in the West. Aside from San Antonio and OKC, I don't see another western conference team being a legitimate contender. Denver and Golden State maybe, but only because they will have an easy ride in the West and will win more games then say, Detroit, but they would lose to Detroit for sure. If Iggy was still in Denver their would be three, or if we knew the Brandon Roy could stay healthy, then you never know. Roy enters the season with a knee injury he sustained in the preseason. Iggy went to Atlanta, who would be my dark horse team, but I doubt they can make it past the star-studded East. Although they are built well to beat a super team, they have great on-ball defenders, and Iggy is a heat's defense-killer, so we'll see. I'm looking forward to a great 2013-2014 NBA season.

            NBA Team Previews: Southeastern Division

The Southeastern Division is owned by the Miami Heat, unquestionably. They are far and away the best team in the division that, save one Atlanta Hawks, is very weak. The Orlando Magic and Charlotte Bobcats are perennial bottom-feeders that will likely both be in discussion for the number 1 overall pick. Washington is a below-average team that is a little better than the Bobcats and Magic. They will likely be in the middle of the lottery. Then you have the enigma that is the Atlanta Hawks. They are a team, that, in last years Eastern Conference, would be competing for sure. But the Eastern Conference is good this year, scary good. They are likely to be a middle of the road team again this year and will be a 7th or 8th seed. But what makes them interesting is how the roster is constructed. Whether by chance or intent, it seems to be built to exploit the Heat and there weaknesses. Well, more on that later.

            Miami Heat

            Lineup
Starting PG: Chalmers, Bench: Norris Cole(6th Man) and 1st rounder Shane Larkin

Starting SG: Wade, Bench: Mike Miller

Starting SF: LeBron, Bench: Rashard Lewis, James Jones

Starting PF: Battier, Bench: Udonis Haslem, 2nd round pick Richard Howell

Starting C: Bosh, Bench: Joel Anthony

            Offseason Moves:
            Acquired:
-Drafted Shane Larkin with 29th Overall Pick
-Drafted Richard Howell with 60th Overall Pick

            Lost:
            -Ray Allen (signed with Clippers)
            -Chris Andersen (signed with Bulls)

The Heat were runner-up last season, again. Many are beginning to say that LeBron's legacy is tarnished. He has lost 3 finals series and two with the Heat as a member of the 'Big Three'. With that said, they are still obviously title threats, and are the best team in the East, though this team is more reminiscent of the team that lost to Dallas than any other team. The Heat still lack a true big man other than Chris Bosh. But, they still have two of the top ten players in the NBA, and there is not a team they can't beat. The main reason that this team is eerily similar to that of the 2010-2011 Heat the lost to the Mavs is the bench. Unlike the previous two seasons, the bench this season for Miami is rather weak. They have lost key sixth man Ray Allen, and Energetic backup big man Chris Andersen, two key players in their rotation. Norris Cole will be expected to play the 6th man role and be the first guy off the bench to help spark the offense, this time with lightning quickness and transition basketball, in contrast to Ray Allen's three ball. Udonis Haslem will need to continue to play well and step up on the offensive glass this season. One of the major advantages of The heat's bench last season was its ability to run a lineup with LeBron, Bosh, Wade, and two sharpshooters so that Wade and LeBron could just drive and Kick to Bosh, who can hit the three or mid range J, or one of the other shooters. They will still be able to do that, but not quite as effectively because Allen, the best three point man in League, is no longer there. The burden of shooting off the bench will be left to the oft-injured Mike Miller and Rashard Lewis, the Combo Forward who can shoot the ball well, but for sure is no Ray Allen. When Mario Chalmers is hot, he has shown flashes of greatness with his sweet shooting stroke as well, but he is maddeningly inconsistent. This team will still likely be the number one seed, and still have a great shot at the finals, but its lack of a great bench like it has been blessed with the last two seasons is a real concern.

As you can see, the team went through an overhaul last season in GM Tony Winter's first offseason as GM of the Hawks. I like what they did with the roster and see it as a definite improvement on last seasons roster. I just don't know what the improvements will amount to. I see them as a 7th or 8th seed in the East, but as a third or 4th seed in the shockingly much weaker western conference. The good thing about this team is it appears built to beat a superteam, especially the heat. Using the Heat example, it appears built to exploit the flaws of the Heat. While there aren't many of them, there are a few, which is why this team has lost the NBA Finals twice in three years, but the fact of the matter is, the Heat have been in the title match for three years running. One key flaw in the Heats makeup is the lack of a true Low-post defensive presence. The Hawks have one of the stronger back-courts in the Eastern Conference with Al Horford and Nerlens Noel. They will bully the likes of Shane Battier, Udonis Haslem, and, most importantly, Chris Bosh in the post. This will allow them two get easy points in the paint and off of offensive rebounding. Another flaw of the Heat is really not a flaw unless you play a team like the Hawks. Its there defense. It plays great, and is very effective, but has a fundamental flaw. It is turn-over, and on-ball pressure dependent. Erik Spoelstra's defensive scheme is based on playing tight on ball defense and forcing bad passes and steals from the pressure. They even feature a strategy against top-tier point guards called trapping. they double the point guard when he passes half court and 'trap' him at the corner, forcing him to stop his dribble or get forced to dribble out of bounds. they typically trap with the player that guards him and a taller player, so they can cut off passing lanes out of it. like so:

This may be the Clippers, but its the same concept. They doubled Ty Lawson with a big man, Griffin, and his usual defender, Paul, to trap him and force him into a tight situation. The flaw with doing that against the Hawks is they likely won't have one ball handler, so if you do that to, say, Teague, he will dump it off the Iggy, and Iggy will run the offense. The high pressure turnover base won't help either. The team has great passers at every position, and can move the ball well. Eventually, someone on the heat defense will lose there man on a screen and there will be nobody to help him. Off-ball screens and ball movement are a key part of Vaughn's offense. The great ball handling of guys like Teague and Iggy along with the intelligence of most of there players will help them stay disciplined and not turn the ball over. Defensively, this team is much improved from last year and could easily be built to stop the Heat's offense. This defense, while similar to the Heat's, is different in two key elements that make it prefect to play against LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Company. While it does play a high pressure breed of defense that doesn't have a lot of help defense, it isn't based on turnovers. Vaughn, in his tenure with the Magic was quoted to say,

What his scheme requires is talented perimeter defenders who are disciplined and don't give up open looks. They have two of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA in Andre Iguodala and Jimmy Butler. Butler actually earned the reputation last year of being a 'LeBron Stopper' or playing well against LeBron and limiting him enough so he can't take over a game. Those two can both go one-on-one with Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, allowing them to keep guys on their own assignments and not leave shooters like Mike Miller, Mario Chalmers, or Rashard Lewis open. The Other core difference is the ability to defend the paint. They have the best defensive center in the draft in Nerlens Noel and Al Horford to defend the paint. So, like Roy Hibbert, Noel will protect the Rim and keep LeBron and Wade from penetrating and making plays from inside, whether it being scoring or kicking it out to a shooter if the defense collapses in, which it won't because Noel will be there. The team overall has talent and should be in the playoff discussion, but is a notch or two lower than a title contender right now. They could be a potential upset team based on how they are built.

            -AJ Price (Unrestricted Free Agent)

The Wizards, in a normal year for the Eastern Conference, would be battling for a low playoff seed. But this is not a normal year. The talent in the East, as I've said many times, is very deep. They will likely be a low lottery team, and be at a pick around 12-14. John Wall has established himself as a legitimate superstar. He averaged a career high 20.3 PPG, with 7.6 APG, and showed real growth as a shooter, hitting 48.5% from the field and hitting 34.4% from three. He, and young two guard Bradley Beal, are a dynamic Backcourt and will cause teams trouble. They also have a solid SF in Trevor Ariza and a talented deep front court. As this team grows, it will be a good team.

            Projected Record: 39-43, missing playoffs
Projected Result: Miss playoffs, low-lottery pick.

The Magic had a good offseason, at least long-term. They drafted a young point guard will be the guy for them and their franchise player for years to come. Seth Curry is a good 3 point shooter and will be a good role player, and Lucas Nogueira is a player that is a bit of a project, but probably should have been drafted. He is a good young asset, and part of rebuilding is gathering young assets to help your team either trade for or attract a star to get back to winning. This is a good start to the rebuilding process, but would have been better if they had retained young promising head coach Jacque Vaughn, who would have been a good coach to build with and grow. All things considered, it was a win for the future of the organization, even if the young promising coach Vaughn is now coaching a rival team. I expect minor improvements but most of the effects are long term, this will still be a bottom-dwelling team.

This team just keeps moving back. They decided to take a project player in Rudy Gobert at 7 over NERLENS NOEL!!! and Then Noel went one pick later to a division rival. MJ, MJ, MJ.... you need to fid a real GM to handle your personnel, becuase you clearly can't. this team will again be bad, and until they make a good draft move, they will be bad continuously.

Hey, sorry, but I have to stop doing this because the file is screwed up (and no I did not back it up, oops ) when i try to advance it freezes up. I am gonna do a new dynasty (but it probably won't be a GM dynasty this time, I will save that for NBA 2k14, and then on PS4 NBA Live 14). I got a great set of offseason rosters and I want to do a new association with them. I narrowed it down to five teams and I want you guys to decide which one. I will start a new thread where we can decide the new team. Sorry guys, and man this sucks, because I had some real plans for this. The new thread will be up by 4 pm eastern. and I want to start the new association tonight. Oh well, I guess we can look forward to another association where I try to lead a team back to victory. Also, if anybody knows, is there a D-league or summer league roster out there thats any good? because if there is then that would also give me some good ideas.
