Respect the Brow! Respect it! A Pelicans Dynasty
My last dynasty with Houston was cut short thanks to a freezing issue. This time I will be the Pelicans. I will use Paul Pierce and Perry Price's great roster and sliders. The roster starts at the end of the season, and has their 2013 draft class in it, and starting next year I will use CWSapp57 and Dreese's amazing draft classes. This will be 32 team control. I will let the computer manage the team besides mine for the most part, but I'll step in and overturn things I don't like or sign guys to teams if they are sitting on FA to start the year when they shouldn't be. Thanks to all of them. Time to get going.Last edited by ewing6; 07-20-2013, 10:43 PM.Tags: None -
Re: Respect the Brow! Respect it! A Pelicans Dynasty
Heat Win 2nd Title in a Row, End Cinderella Season for Warriors
The Warriors had stuned the world after beating the Oklahoma City Thunder in the West finals. Despite no Westbrook for the Thunder this was still very impressive. The Heat cruized through the East to make it to their 3rd Finals in a row. They make quick work of the Warriors winning in four games to claim their 2nd title of the big 3. I wonder who the MVP was....
Lebron got his 2nd title. He had a great series averaging 27 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 1 block while shooting 48% from the field.
4 Players Retire
Damien Wilkins, Juwan Howard, Mike James, and Derek Fisher all announced their retirements following the playoffs. Wilkins and James were ok players, but Fisher was a 17 year pro and Howard was a 19 year pro. They were both beyond class acts, leaders, winners, and team players. They will be missed.

Re: Respect the Brow! Respect it! A Pelicans Dynasty
Pelicans Win Lottery
One year after winning the lottery and drafting Anthony Davis, the Pelicans returned to the lottery hoping for similar luck with their eyes on another Kentucky Big Man. The Pelicans had the 5th best chance, but the pingpong balls bounced their way and for the second year in a row the Pelicans will have the first year. It is clear that the Pelicans plan to pear Nerlens Noel with Anthony Davis to form a young fearsome front line.
The twin towers for the Pelicans standing side by side.
Amnesty Central
This year's amnesty peroid saw a lot of action among the teams that still could use it. The Raptors cut ties with former #1 pick Bargnani. The Bucks cut ties with Drew Gooden to open up space in a pitch to Brandon Jennings to stay. The Bobcats release Tyrus Thomas. The Pistons cut Charlie-V, the Kings cut John Salmons, and the Lakers cut former champion Metta World Peace. Lastly the Heat cut ties with finals hero from 2 years ago Mike Miller.

Re: Respect the Brow! Respect it! A Pelicans Dynasty
Atlantic Division Offseason Recap and Next season preview
Philadelphia 76ers
Spoiler
Philly had high hopes going into last season after the Andrew Bynum trade. Their season fell down hill after Bynum got hurt and could not play for the entire year. The only positive was Jrue Holiday breaking out and having an allstar season. In the offseason they got the green light On Bynum's medicals and they resigned him to a 4 year 72.18 million dollar contract. They added sharp shooter Dario Saric to start at SF for them. They also signed PG Pablo Prigioni to back up Holiday. The 76ers look to be in prime position to bounce back and be contenders in the east.
Roster:
PG: Jrue Holiday/Pablo Prigioni
SG: Evan Turner/Nick Young/Jason Richardson
SF: Dario Saric/Dorell Wright/Tony Snell
PF: Thad Young/Lavoy Allen/Tony Woods
C: Andrew Bynum/Spencer Hawes(6th man)
Prediction: 1st in Divison
Boston Celtics
Spoiler
It was an early exit for the veteran Celtics, but they still had a quiet offseason. They added SG Jamaal Franklin in the draft, who won't likely see much time early on. Lucas Nogueira was a 2nd round pick who could compete for some time backing up KG. The main thing for Boston is getting Rondo back from injury and hoping Jeff Green can put together an entire season like he had last year. If they are healthy and Green breaks out again the Celtics can make some noise in the east.
Roster:
PG: Rondo/Bradley(6th man)
SG: Pierce/Terry/Lee/Crawford/Franklin
SF: Jeff Green
PF: Jared Sullinger/Brandon Bass/DJ White
C: KG/Nogueria/Melo.
Prediction: 2nd in Divison
New York Knicks
Spoiler
The Knicks got a big boast earl in the offseason as JR Smith picked up his 2.93 million player option to prove himself after the playoffs last year. Other than that the Knicks didn't have much flexability. They were able to draft Steve Adams in the first round to provide insurance behind Chandler. They were able to get Kmart to resign. They have to hope Stat can bounce back and Shump can break out if they want to improve. I expect a mid to low playoff seed for the Knicks
Roster:
PG: Raymond Felton/Jason Kidd
SG: Iman Shumpert/Jr Smith(6th man)/Maurice Creek
SF: Melo/Chris Copeland/Novak
PF: Stat/Kmart
C: Tyson Chandler/Steve Adams/Marcus Camby
Prediction: 4th in division
Brooklyn Nets
Spoiler
After capping them selves last year with the Joe Johnson trade, the Nets had a quiet offseason. They lost Andray Blatche to the Raptors.Their first round pick Deshaun Thomas is not expected to see a lot of time early on. They added Zaza Pachulia to back up Lopez and Stephen Jackson to back up Wallace. The Nets season is going to based on if Dwill and Johnson bounce back, but even if they do I don't think they have the guns to make a playoff run.
Roster:
PG: Dwill/Tyshawn Taylor/CJ Watson
SG: Joe Johnson/Marshon Brooks(6th man)/Sergev Karasev
SF: Gerald Wallace/Stephen Jackson/Tornike Shengelia/Deshaun Thomas
PF: Reggie Evans/Humphries/Mirza Teletovic
C: Brook Lopez/Zaza Pachulia
Prediction: 3rd in Division
Toronto Raptors
Spoiler
The Raptors made their big move at the deadline last year getting Rudy Gay. They had enough money to add Andray Blatche to a 3 year 11.04 million deal to start at PF after his break out for the Nets. CJ Leslie and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added through the draft could contribute. Look for Terrence Ross to break out as the 6th man. The problem with this team is where the defense is going to come from. I could see them being a late seed, but I doubt there will be 5 playoff teams from one divison and I see the Raptors as the odd guys out.
Roster:
PG: Kyle Lowry/John Lucas/Sebastian Telfair
SG: Derozan/Terrence Ross/Alan Anderson/Pope
SF: Gay/Landry Fields/Kleiza
PF: Blatche/Boris Diaw/Leslie/Acy
C; Valanciunas/Amir Johnson
Prediction: 5th in divison

Re: Respect the Brow! Respect it! A Pelicans Dynasty
Central Division Offseason Recap and Season Preview
Milwaukee Bucks
Spoiler
The Bucks shocked the world this offseason by successfully luring Dwight Howard, on a 4 year 84.20 million dollar deal completing changing their outlook for the season. They got a huge surprise as Brandon Jennings accepted the 4.33 million dollar RFA tender to get a chance to play with Dwight and earn a big contract at the end of the year. With Howard in the fold, the Bucks had a crowded frontcourt so they decided to deal Larry Sanders to fill their hole at SF. They decided with Jennings and Dwight they weren't enough shots for everyone. They dealt Sanders(to Kings) and Ellis(to Denver) in a 3 way deal with the Kings for Tyreke Evans to play at the 2, and Danilo Gallinari to play at the 3. Jennings, Evans, Gallo, Ilyasova, and Howard form a young dynamic starting five. Ray Allen decided to come back where it begun in an attempt to get a title before he calls it a career. The Bucks also added young guard CJ Mccollum in the first round to back up Jennings. The Bucks won the offseason, let's see how quickly they can come together and have success.
Roster:
PG: Brandon Jennings/CJ Mccollum/Ish Smith/Nemania Nedovic
SG: Tyreke Evans/Ray Allen(6th man)
SF: Gallo/Luc Richard Mbah A Moute
PF: Ersan Ilyasova/Ekpe Udoh/John Henson
C: Dwight Howard/Samuel Dalembert
Prediction: 2nd in divison
Chicago Bulls
Spoiler
The Bulls only added SGs Christian McKnight and BJ Young in the draft and Brandon Haywood to back up Noah at center. Yet they still get the biggest addition in the league with the return of Derick Rose. Not much else to say, as we all know the story by now. Expect the Bulls to be a title contender.
Roster:
PG: Derrick Rose/Marquis Teague/Kurt Hinrich
SG: Jimmy Butler/Rip Hamilton/Christian Mcknight/BJ Young
SF: Luol Deng/Daequan Cook
PF: Carlos Boozer/Taj Gibson(6th man)
C: Joakim Noah/Brandon Haywood
Prediction: 1st in division
Cleveland Cavaliers
Spoiler
The post Lebron rebuild around Irving contiunes. The Cavs were able to get their man Otto Porter in the draft to hopefully be the future at SF. In free agency they added 25 year old Patrick Beverley on a 1 year 5.78 million dollar deal. Beverley was hoping for a starting gig after his breakout in Houston, but got no bits and was sitting in free agency for a while. He decided to take money for 1 year get big minutes in a young Cavs backcourt and try and hit it big as a free agent next year. Making progress in Cleveland, but this year is going to be another lottery year.
Roster:
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patrick Beverley(6th man)/Daniel Gibson
SG: Dion Waiters/Wayne Ellington
SF: Otto Porter/Alonzo Gee/CJ Miles/Omir Casspi/Sergev Karasev
PF: Tristan Thompson/Marreese Speights
C: Anderson Varejao/Tyler Zeller
Prediction: 4th in divison
Detroit Pistons
Spoiler
A quiet offseason for Detroit as their rebuild continues. Monroe and Drummond are a great young front court who will keep on growing and they added Ben Mclemore to combo with Brandon Knight in a potential future backcourt. Ronny Turiaf comes in to back up Drummond. The Pistons are coming around, but not yet, not in this division.
Roster:
PG: Brandon Knight/Jose Calderon
SG: Rodney Stuckey/Kim English
SF: Ben Mclemore/Kyle Singler(6th man)/Kris Middleton
PF: Greg Monroe/Jonas Jerebko/Adreian Payne
C: Andre Drummond/Ronny Turiaf/Vyacheslav Kravtsov
Prediction: 5th in divison
Indiana Pacers
Spoiler
The Pacers lost David West to free agency, but were able to make some solid pickups to complete their core. Kyle Korver will come in and be a sharp shooter off the bench. Antawn Jamison, and first round pick Isaiah Austin will join the mix in the front court and the best news is the return of Danny Granger. The Pacers might lose a little on defense, but will gain a lot on offense this year, expect them to be in the mix.
Roster:
PG: George Hill/DJ Augustin
SG: Paul Geroge/Lance Stephenson(6th man)/Gerald Green/Orlando Johnson
SF: Danny Granger/Kyle Korver/Christian Watford
PF: Tyler Hansbrough/Jamison/Isaiah Austin
C: Roy Hibbert/Miles Plumlee/Ian Mahinmi
Prediction: 3rd in divison

Re: Respect the Brow! Respect it! A Pelicans Dynasty
Southeast Division Offseason Recap and Season Preview
Miami Heat
Spoiler
After repeating as champions it was a very quiet offseason. They were able to resign Birdman to a 3 year 3.17 million dollar contract. They added PGS Ryan Harrow(first round) and Peyton Siva(2nd round) in the draft. They were able to sign Marco Belinellli to a year 3.10 million dollar deal to replace Ray Allen. Lebron is trying to match the elite by getting his 3rd title in a row. They will be contenders, if/when the east comes down to the Heat/Bulls it will be VERY interesting
Roster:
PG: Mario Chalmers/Norris Cole/Ryan Harrow/Peyton Siva
SG: Dwyane Wade/Marco Belinelli
SF: Lebron james/Shane Battier(6th man)/James Jones
PF: Chris Bosh/Udonis Haslem
C: Chris Anderson/Joel Anthony
Prediction: first in division.
Washington Wizards:
SpoilerThe Wizards had a quiet offseason. They played very well after Wall came back last year, so a full year of Wall should help. They added Patty Mills to back up Wall. They added Rakeem Christmas(1st round) and Allen Crabbe(2nd round). They should make strides this year, be closer to .500. I think they have an outside shot at a 8 seed, but the better depth of the east hurts there chances. Watch out for them at the end of the season as they should have cap space as Ariza and Okafor expire.
Roster:
PG: John Wall/ Patty Millis
SG: Bradley Beal/Allen Crabbe
SF: Martell Webster/Chris Singleton/Trevor Ariza/Jan vesely
PF: Nene/Rakeem Chirstmas(6th man)/Trevor Booker/Kevin Seraphin
C: Okafor
Prediction: 2nd in division
Atlanta Hawks
Spoiler
The hawks had their hopes on Dwight Howard and Chris Paul, but stroke out on both. They added Greg Oden to backup Horford on a 3 year 13.16 million dollar deal. Their big pickup was Paul Millsap on a 1 year 8.02 million dollar deal to replace Josh Smith. Terrence Williams(4 years 8.87 million dollar contract) and Rashard Lewis(1 year 1.49 million dollar contract) were added for depth. First round pick Doug Mcdermott will get a chance to be the 6th man to start the year as he can score. The Hawks got worse this year and as a result will be in the lottery.
Roster:
PG: Jeff Teague/Devin Harris/Myck Kabongo
SG: Louis Williams/John Jenkins
SF: Terrence Williams/Doug Mxdermott(6th man)/Rashard Lewis
PF: Paul Millsap/Hakeem Warrick/Ivan Johnson
C: Al Horford/Greg Oden
Prediction: 3rd in divison
Orlando Magic
Spoiler
The only thing worse then the Dwightmare was the Magic's season last year. The only players they added were former Hornet Robin lopez and PGS Shane Larkin(1st round) and Isaiah Canaan(2nd round). This will be another long season. I expect to see Nelson and Affalo traded for picks and younger guys at some point in the season
Roster:
PG: Jameer Nelson/Shane Larkin/Isaiah Canaan/Beno Udrich
SG: Arron Afflalo/Doron Lamb
SF: Terrel Harris/Maurice Harkless/Hedo Turkoglu
PF:Glen Davis/Al Harrington(6th man)/Andrew Nicholson
C: Nikola Vucevic/Robin Lopez
Prediction: 5th in division
Charlotte Bobcat
Spoiler
The Bobcats had a solid offseason. They added Cody Zeller in the first round and Tiago Splittter to give them a respectable frontline. They bought in Tim Hardaway JR and ALex Abrines in the 2nd round. This will be another lottery year, but the Bobcats are starting to build a foundation.
Roster:
PG: Kemba Walker/Ramon Sessions
SG: Gerald Henderson/Ben Gordan(6th man)/Tim Hardaway JR/ Alex Abrines
SF: MKG/ Jeff Taylor
PF: Tiago Splitter/Biyombo/Josh Mcroberts
C: Cody Zeller/Bryon Mullens
Prediction: 4th in division

Re: Respect the Brow! Respect it! A Pelicans Dynasty
Northwest Offseason Recap and Season Preview
Minnesota Timberwolves
Spoiler
The Timberwolves had a good core in place going into last season, but injuries crushed their hopes. Rubio, Love, and Roy are all healthy. They were able to resign Budinger(2 years 6.04 million deal) and Nikola Pekovic(5 years 33.76 million dollar deal). They also took Tony Mitchell with the 9th overall pick. I expect a solid season, and a possible playoff appearance for the Twolves.
Roster:
PG: Ricky Rubio/Luke Ridnour/JJ Barea
SG: Brandon Roy/Alexey Shved(6th man)/Malcolm Lee
SF: Ak47/Budinger/Tony Mitchell
PF: Kevin Love/Derrick Williams
C: Pekovic/Greg Stiemsma/Donovan Woolridge
Prediction: 3rd in divison
Portland Trail Blazers
Spoiler
It was a quiet offseason for Portland. They were able to resign JJ Hickson to a 3 year 10.92 million dollar deal. The only other players they added were Trey Burke(first round) and Jeff Withey(2nd round.) This is a young team with some talent, but they don't have the guns to make the playoffs in a strong west no matter how good Damian Lillard
Roster:
PG: Damian Lillzard/Eric Maynor(6th man)/Nolan Smith
SG: Wesley Matthews/Trey Burke/Will Barton/Elliot Williams
SF:Nicholas Batum/Victor Claver/Luke Babbitt
PF: JJ Hickson
C: Lamarcus Aldridge/Meyers Leonard/Jeff Withey
Prediction: 4th in divison
Utah Jazz
Spoiler
Utah lost Paul Millsap, but were able to maintain Al Jeffersonon a 4 year 40.75 million dollar deal. They added Elton Brand to join Favors, Jefferson, and Kanter in a strong front court. Michael Carter Williams will attempt to boast the back court for the Jazz. The Jazz are a ok team, but the west is too good for this team to make a playoff run.
Roster:
PG: Mo Williams/Michael Carter-Williams/Jerel Mcneal
SG: Randy Foye/ Alec Burks
SF: Gordon Hayward/ Marvin Williams/Kevin Murphy
PF: Derrick Favors/Elton Brand/Jeremy Evans
C: Al Jefferson/Enes Kanter(6th man)
Oklahoma City Thunder
Spoiler
A Russel Westbrook injury ruined there chance at a title run last year, but they still made it to the west finals. They were able to keep the team together and they will get Westbrook back. Mike Miller got a 490 K deal to shot off the bench and Kelly Olynyk(first round pick) provides a 7 foot body. Kevin Martin got a 5 year 41.58 million dollar deal. The Thunder should be the clear favorite in the west.
ROster:
PG: Russel Westbrook/Reggie Jackson
SG: Kevin Martin/Thabo Sefolosha(6th man)/Jeremy Lamb/Vander Blue
SF: Kevin Durant/Mike Miller
PF: Serge Ibaka/Perry Jones/Nick Collison
C: Kendrick Perkins/Olynyk/Thabeet
Prediction: first in divison
Denver Nuggets
Spoiler
The Nuggets had a good team last year, but they couldn't advance in the playoffs. iggy picked up his option. Gallo was unhappy with his role, so they traded him for Monta Ellis to provide that scoring presence. They added Gorgui Dieng to the big man rotation. They were able to keep Corey Brewer on a 5 year 8.56 million dollar deal. The Nuggets are a young team, with a good mix of offense and defense. I think they will be the biggest challenge to the Thunder in the west. This is a well-built team. There will be pressure to win as Iggy an Ellis are both expiring and could move on at the end of the year.
Roster;
PG: Ty Lawson/Andre Miller
SG: Monta Ellis/Corey Brewer/Evan Fournier
SF: Andre Iguodala/Wilson Chandler(6th man)/Quincy Miller/Jordan Hamilton
PF: Kenneth Faried/Anthony Randolph
C: Javale Mcgee/Kosta Koufos/Gorgui Dieng
Prediction: 2nd in divison

Re: Respect the Brow! Respect it! A Pelicans Dynasty
Pacific Offseason Recap and Season Review
Los Angeles Lakers
Spoiler
Did you think last season was bad for the Lakers. This offseason was worse. They lost Dwight Howard to the Bucks, The Lakers couldn't outpitch the Bucks!!! The only free agent they added was Drew Gooden. He can't replace Dwight Howard. Neither can first round pick Miles Plumlee. The Lakers are going to the lottery.
Roster:
PG: Steve Nash/Steve Blake/Darius Morris/Chris Duhon
SG: Kobe/Jodie Meeks
SF: Earl Clark/Devin Ebanks
PF: Paul Gasol/Drew Gooden/Augusto Lima
C: Jordan Hill/Mason Plumlee
Prediciton: 4th in division
Sacramento Kings
Spoiler
The biggest story of the offseason was the Kings staying in Sacramento. They made some solid under the radar moves. They signed former Hornet Aminu who is still only 23 who will spilt time at SF with first round pick Shabazz Muhammad. They traded Chuck Hayes to the Celtics along with a 2nd rounder for Jason Terry. Boston had 0 minutes for Terry and needed a back up center, and Terry adds scoring and veteran experience to a young Kings backcourt. Lastly they cut ties with Terekye Evans and got dynamic shot blocker Larry Sanders to play next to Cousins and to intimate drivers that usually get into the paint at will vs the Kings. You see some baby steps here, but they will still be a lottery club
Roster:
PG: Isaiah Thomas/Jimmer/Tony Douglas
SG: Marcus Thornton/Jason Terry
SF: Muhammad/Aminu/Le'bryan Nash
PF: Cousins/Jason Thompson(6th man)/Patrick Peterson/James Johnson
C: Larry Sanders/Cole Aldrich/Church Hayes
Prediction: 5th in divison
Phoenix Suns
Spoiler
The suns kept their entire roster in tact besides drafting Anthony Bennett with the second overall pick. Everyone else is returning to the Suns. This won't be a good year, but I have this team as better than the Lakers or Suns, so 3rd place is my prediction.
Roster:
PG: Gordan Dragic/Kendall Marshall
SG: Shannon Brown/Wesley Johnson
SF: Jared Dudley/Michael Beasley(6th man)/ PJ Tucker
PF: Anthony Bennett/Markieff Morris/Marcus Morris/Frye
C: Marcin Gortat/Luis Scola
Prediction: 3rd place in divison
Golden State Warriors
Spoiler
The Warriors had a magical run to the finals last year ended with a sweep at the hands of the Heat. They kept most of the team together, they lost Jarrett Jack, but added two dynamic backcourt players in Nate Robinson and first round pick Victor Oladipo. They also get Brandon Rush back from injury. This should be another good year, but due to the stronger west, this isn't a championship team.
Roster:
PG: Step Curry/Nate Robinson
SG: Klay Thompson/Victor Oladipo/Brandon Rush/Kent Bazemore
SF: Harrison Barnes/Richard Jefferson
PF: David Lee/Carl Landry/Draymond Green
C: Andrew Bogut/Andris Biedrins/Festus Ezeli
Prediction: 2nd in division
Los Angles Clippers
Spoiler
The Clippers had a successful offseason by keeping Chris Paul on a 5 year 94.66 million dollar deal. They added Alex Len and Tyrus Thomas to help out Griffin and Jordan in the front court. They are still as deep as ever. I think they are a top 4 team in the west, not quite the Thunder, but a very good team.
Roster:
PG: Chris Paul/Eric Bledsoe
SG: Jamal Crawford/Billups/Willie Green/Brandon paul
SF: Caron Butler/Matt Barnes
PF: Blake Griffin/Tyrus Thomas(6th man)
C: Deandre Jordan/Alex Len

Re: Respect the Brow! Respect it! A Pelicans Dynasty
Southwest Offseason recap and Season Preview
Houston Rockets
Spoiler
Houston had the cap to lue Dwight Howad or Chris Paul or Josh Smith. They stroke out on all of them. They lost Beverly to free agency. They added David West on a 1 year 8 million dollar deal to start at PF. They added Jarrett Jack and Gary Neal. They also drafted PG Erick Green in the first round. The Rockets added some vets to a young core. They have a dynamic playoff team, but not a title team yet
Roster:
PG: Jeremy Lin/Jarrett Jack(6th man)/Erick Green
SG: James Harden/Gary Neal
SF: Chandler Parsons/Terrence Jones/Reggie Bullock
PF: David West/Thomas Robinson/Royce White
C: Omer Asik/Donatas Motiejunas/Greg Smith
Prediction: 2nd in divison
Dallas Mavericks
Spoiler
Dallas had dreams of Dwight, dreams of Paul, dreams of both. They got none. They got OJ Mayo back on his option. Darren Collison returned on a 5 year 28.03 million dollar deal. Rodrigue Beaubois returned on a 3.27 mil QO. They added Dennis Schroeder and Nate Wolters(2nd round) in the draft. They bought back Brandan Wright on a 3 year 12.76 million dollar deals. They added Carlos Delfino, Mozgov and Jason Smith on 1 year deals. No stars besides Dirk, and despite the decent depth, they will miss the playoffs.
Roster:
Darren Collison/Rodrigue Beaubois/Dennis Schroeder/Nate Wolters
SG: Mayo/Morrow/Jared Cunningham
SF: Shawn Marion/Carlos Delfino
PF: Dirk/Jae Crowder/Jason Smith
C: Brandon Wright/Mozgov/Bernard James
Prediction: 5th in divison
Memphis Grizzlies
Spoiler
Memphis lost a big piece of their defensive team in Tony Allen. They replaced him with rookie Archie Goodwin and Ronnie Brewer who can replace the defense of Allen. Other than that they have kept this team together. This club has great chemisry, a great coach, and will always be in because of their defense. Sadly I think there are some better teams in the west, and that there season will end in an early playoff exist.
Roster:
PG: Mike Conley/Jerryd Bayless/Tony Wroten
SG: Archie Goodwin/Athanaios Adetokoubo
SF: Tayshuan Prince/Austin Daye/Qunicy Pondexter
PF: Zach Randolph/Ed Davis(6th man)/Darrell Arthur
C: Marc Gasol/Ronny Turiaf
San Antonio Spurs
Spoiler
The Spurs aren't know for making big splashes, they aren't known for signing big free agents. They aren't know for being attrached to incredbile atlehetics who can dunk over any one. Imagine the shock around the league when they signed Josh Smith to a 3 year 33 million dollar deal. The Spurs have a 4th big piece. Parker/Manu/Leonard/Smith/Duncan will be very difficult to beat. They should be right up there with the Thunder and Denver at the top of the league. They add Rudy Gobert in the draft to back up Duncan and Sonny Weems to back up Leonard.
Roster:
PG: Tony Parker/Corey Joseph/Nando De Colo
SG: Manu/Green/Mcgrady
SF: Leonard/Weems
PF: Smith/Blair/Mbakwe
C: Duncan/Gobert
Prediction: 1st in division
Last but not least.....
New Orleans Pelicans
Spoiler
Going into the offseason the Pelicans had a franchise PF in Davis and a #1 scoring option in Eric Gordan. They knew the chances of them getting another star to New Orleans were 0% this year. They decided to surrond their two top players with defenders and shooters. They wanted a team built on defense, 3 point shots, and pick and rolls with Davis and PG Vasquez who broke out last year. The offseason started with a bang when they won the lottery and got a franchise center and second defense anchor in Nerlens Noel. They bought in Will Bynum on a 1 year 3.5 million dollar deal to back up Vasquez. Will is a good scorer and defender who will run the offense well whenever he is needed. The next signing was veteran Tony Allen. Tony is the best permieter defender in the NBA and when him Noel, and Davis are on the floor the Pelicans will be tough to score on. He got a 2 year 6 million dollar deal. The next signing for the Pelicans was Chris Kaman for 1 year 2 million dollars. Kaman has a good post game and shot shot. He is a good rebounder as well. He will serve as a mentor to Noel and Davis and also provide a scoring bunch to our second unit. The Pelicans final signing was JJ Reddick. They were looking for a SF, but with no good options on the trade or FA market, they decided to sign Reddick and move him over. He will help the spacing a lot, and play a key role in our half court offense, by scoring off screens. Reddick gets a 3 year 15.86 million dollar contract. Anything we lose on defense with JJ at the 3 will be made up by Allen off the bench. The Pelicans know they aren't the best team in the league but they hope 48 minutes of defense pressure and pick and roll offense surrounded by shooters can be a system of success for them.
Roster:
PG: Greivis Vasquez/Will Bynum/Brain Roberts
SG: Eric Gordan/Tony Allen/Austin Rivers
SF: JJ Reddick/Darius miller
PF: Anthony Davis/Ryan Anderson(6th man)/Lance Thomas
C: Nerlens Noe/Chris Kaman
Prediction: 4th in division.

Both teams played strong defense in the first quarter as the Spurs emerged with a 3 point lead. The second quarter was more up-tempo and offense minded. The Spurs out played the Hornets most of the quarter. With 10 seconds left in the half, Parker drove to the rim, was blocked by Davis, which started a fast break when Vasquez dished to Reddick who hit a 3 with .4 left in the half. That sequence was the difference between being down 6 and being down 1 at half. The Spurs came out and dominated the 3rd quarter on both sides. The Hornets couldn't buy a bucket and the Spurs were executing their cutting and driving offense to perfection. They went into the 4th quarter with a 14 point lead. a 6-0 run to start the 4th put the Hornets down 20 and looked to end the game. The Hornets stormed back on a 17-1 run to get back into the game. They got within 3 twice and within 2 a coulpe times, but the Spurs were able to force timely turnovers which killed momentum and the Spurs held on for the 4 point win. While it is a loss, this young team showed a lot of heart and it was encouraging to see us hold the veteran Spurs team to only 16 4th quarter points.
Postives:
1. Nerlens Noel- 12 rebounds 2 blocks, and 3-4 from the line in his NBA debut. Another play was when it looked like he blocked a Leonard dunk, but the ball flew into the air and landed into the hoop. He looked good on defense and was able to limit Duncan on the offense end.
2. First and 4th quarter defense- Our defense played lockdown early and late. We struggled in the 2nd and 3rd quarters but to see glimpses like that on this team's first game together was encouraging. Eric Gordan stepped up and guarded Tony Parker very well in the 4th quarter which was a major key to our run.
3. JJ Reddick- He knocked down open shots and was able to create some offense for himself. If we can some scoring from him to lighten the load on Gordan and Davis it would be great.
Things to Work on:
1. Turnovers: 21 turnovers against a veteran Spurs team, is never going to do. Vasquez despite having 11 assists, had 6 turnovers, that is too many. Bynum and Gordan also struggled with turnovers. We can't give a team like the Spurs so many easy buckets and expect to win.
2. Davis' shooting. Davis went just 5-14 from the field and 1-6 from the line. This was a fluke because Davis is better than this. It is a testament to our team that despite this we were able to stay in the game. Davis was great on the broads and on defense as usual.
3. 2nd unit scoring- Kaman had a solid 8 points. Allen only had 2, Anderson only had 3 and Bynum only had 2. We need Anderson and Bynum to score to take some pressure off our first unit scoring load.

We came out running early on. We pushed after getting stops for a few fast break buckets as we went on a 9-0 run to open the game. The rest of the game we couldn't stop the Thunder offense as Martin, Westbrook, and Durant torched us time after time. Eric Gordan kept us close, by scoring 35 points on 14-20 from the field. Our offense was strong behind Gordan. Davis went 0-10 from the filed in the first half with one point. He erased any concern by going 6-8 with 16 points in the 2nd half. In the second half Austin Rivers went off for 15 out of no where. His hot shooting allowed him to see some extended minutes. The lack of defense killed us all game. If we want to win we need to play defense this wasn't even close.
Positives:
1. Austin Rivers
-His main criticism after his rookie year was his lack of a outside shot. He drilled some open looks and this could help him gain confidence and maybe play a role in the rotation as the season goes on.
2. Eric Gordan
He came out hot and he kept us in the game. He was on fire and he added 8 rebounds and 6 assists. He has to cut down on the 7 turnovers.
3. Offense
Our offense was able to score very well, with a balanced effort behind Gordan, Despite the loss, our offense output was encouraging.
Negatives:
1. Davis first half
He went 0-10. Easy looks were rimming out. He bounced back in the 2nd half, but if he was better in the first half we could have had a lead, no long term concerns at all here.
2. Ryan Anderson
His second straight pitiful shooting game. We need his outside scoring to get going.
3. JJ Reddick
After his great first game, we didn't get him enough shots, an adjustment should be made.
4. Defense
121 points, enough said.
Around the League:
Warriors lose David Lee for 6 to 8 weeks.
As a response they sign Jason Maxiell to take his roster spot.
Clippers lose Chris Paul for 2 to 4 weeks.
Clippers add Aaron Brooks for some backcourt depth.
Cavs lose Speights for the season and sign Sean Williams

The last two games Eric Gordon is 30-42 from the field, 11-22 from three, averaging 37 points. He put up 40 to lead the Pelicans to their first win. We came out in the first quarter and established ourselves on both sides and the out come of the game was never really in doubt despite the Jazz keeping the score reasonable, whenever the starters were in we had our foots on the gas and we played well all-around today.
Positives:
1. Eric Gordon
-The numbers I posted earlier due all the talking
2. Improvement from Defense
-We played really well in the first and 4th quarters and the overall numbers looked good, but we did struggle some in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.A huge improvement from last game, but we can still get better
3. Nerlens Noel
-He looked much more comfortable finishing today going 6-6 from the field. Taking advantage of chances off put backs and of the double teams on Gordan. Very encouraging signs on both sides of the ball.
Negatives:
1. Ryan Anderson
-3 straight putrid shooting games from one of our big options. He has to step it up.
2. Offensive Rebounds
We gave up 19 offense rebounds to the Jazz. Noel and Davis combined for 28 rebounds. They need help from the other guys to keep big teams like the Jazz from hurting us on the boards.
3. Will Bynum
We would like a scoring punch from Bynum off the bench. We haven't got that yet as he is just 1-11 from the field in the first 3 games. We would like him to score some for us.

Not a ton to say. The game was close at the start of the 4th quarter but we ran them out of the park in the 4th quarter. Gordan cooled off a bit, but still had a nice game. Everyone contributed today, a great team win.
Positives:
1. Austin Rivers- scored 10 quick points in the first half, and provided a scoring spark once again. He is trying to play himself into the rotation.
2. Teamwork- We had 34 assists tonight, an amazing number. If we can move the ball like this, we have players who can knock down shots and it showed today. Both of our PGS had 10+ assists tonight.
3. Ryan Anderson- After 3 bad shooting games to start the year he went 3-6 from three as he looks to get going.
4. Won the turnover battle for the first time this year.
Negatives: Don't want to complain too much after a blowout win, but they are some things to work on.
1. Rebounding- Pistons killed us on the boards and out-hustled us to the loose balls. Against a team with more weapons than the Pistons we could have been in trouble the way we were rebounding.
2. Defense- We played great in the 4th quarter holding them to only 15 points, but we suffered many lapses in the first 3 quarters. We need constiant effort on this end of the floor against better team.
