NCAA Tournament: Round 1 Birmingham, AL
    One and Done!

"Tonight wasn't a good night for us." Said Guard Junior Bernal " We did accomplish a huge goal this year by getting into the tourney but we wanted to go further then just this"

A big step in the right direction for maine who never sniffed the NCAA tournament till tonight. One could say that the lights were just too bright for this young inexperience team or it just wasn't there time to make some noise in the tournament either way this close out the 07-08 season for the black bears. Not many had them on the radar to even make the tournament but they some how did with the help of a new head coach at the helm. Entering into this game they racked up 23 wins including a conference championship and winning the AEC Tournament. Ranked as the #13 seed they went toe-to-toe against the #4 seed Rhode Island Rams. The Rams jumped out to a huge lead and never looked back!

49-26 by half time the black bears try to give it their all going into the second half but to no luck. All of their shot kept clanking off the rim left and right it seem as if nobody could get a shot to go down. To be blown out by that large of a margin must hurt their confidence! Let's hope that maine can bounce back and be right back into the big dance next year!

Coach Wilson thought it was a good idea to bring in someone who could specifically do recruiting from him. That's where coach wilmont comes into play, he knows how to sway recruits with his silver tongue and tell them what they want to hear. Add in the fact that coach rend was retained should see some improvement in recruiting for maine!
