Granger Wants to Talk Extension

Bobcats forward Danny Granger announced that he would like to negotiate a contract extension with the team. Granger is currently averaging 17.4 point a game but is only shooting 34% from the field.

Lakers Acquire Jennings

The Lakers have traded guard Chris Duhon and 2 future first round picks to the Milwaukee Bucks for point guard Brandon Jennings. Jennings was a restricted free agent last off season and was expecting a big contract but didn't exactly get any great offers so he accepted the Bucks one year tender for 4.33 million. The Bucks had already signed Chris Paul and Jennings was forced to be a backup to Paul and Monta Ellis. He was only averaged 20 minutes a game this season when he asked for a trade. In a move similar to the Dwight Howard trade, the Lakers will play this year out with Jennings and hope to sign him to an extension. Hopefully this trade works better than the Dwight Howard one.

Cousins, Ellis get Extensions

DeMarcus Cousins and Monta Ellis both have received contract extensions from their respectable teams. The Bucks gave Ellis a 4 year 50.44 million dollar extension while the Kings gave Cousins a 4 year 61.25 million dollar contract.

Well, Kemba's a stud. According to the stats Granger is having a great season. What these stats don't show is that he is shooting a dismal 39% from the field. Gerald Henderson was been even worse shooting just 38%. Kidd-Gilchrist has been looking great on the boards. So has Bismack Biyombo. What the team really needs to work on is protecting the ball. 4 of their starters average more then 2 turnovers a game. That is unacceptable. Jarret Jack has provided great scoring off the bench and has made Ramon Sessions expendable. Gary Neal really deserves some more time. Michael Redd hasn't even got into a game. While rookie Rambo Hightower has been inconsistent he provides the fans with entertainment. He throw down monstrous dunks from time to time. he is always aggressive and draws a lot of fouls. Too bad he only shoots 55% from the line. He can expect more playing time coming his way as long as he stays out of trouble. It really is too bad that the Bobcats traded their first rounder this year because there's a pretty good chance that pick will be the first in the draft.

Tidbits

• Rookie Rambo Hightower had 2 more highlight reel plays. One was off a pick and roll. Kemba Walker threw him a pass and he threw down a malicious reverse slam. The other was a block. Hightower hit the ball from below and volleyed it up into the air.
• Guard Michael Redd played for the first time this season. He hit his first 3 pointer before missing a layup and another 3.
• SF Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging more than 9 rebounds a game. The only small forwards to average more than 9 boards a game for a season this decade are Josh Smith(11-12), Gerald Wallace(09-10), and Shawn Marion(06-07, 05-06, 04-05, 03-04).

A few Trades are Made Before the New Year

There have been 3 separate trades in the NBA on the last day of 2013. One has the Hawks trading Ben Gordon to the Clippers for Jamal Crawford. Another has Tyler Hansbrough traded to the Nets for C.J. Watson and Reggie Evans. The last trade was between the Spurs and Suns. Jared Dudley was traded to the Spurs for Danny Green and Lu Huang.

The Bulls and Lakers have each given a forward an extension. The Lakers gave Pau Gasol a 3 year, 22.86 million dollar extension. The Bulls gave Luol Deng a 4 year, 37.77 million dollar extension.
