Duh Nun Nuh Duh Nun Nuh! This is Sportscenter!

“Hello everyone, welcome back to Sportscenter and I'm your host Jay Crawford, big news out of the NBA today, Bryce Harper returns, and we'll play Can You Name Tom Brady's Targets? But first, FBI officials are reporting thatover 20 NBA owners, 10 head NBA executives, and 8 officials were reportedlyfixing NBA games throughout the season and in the playoffs. Also some papers were found and showed that altogether they made over 1 billion dollars frombetting on these fixed games. What’s next for the NBA? I don’t know for sure, but we’ll fill you in on more details once they come along

    (A day later)

“Welcome back to another edition of Sportscenter, this is Neil Everett andwe got some HUGE news regarding the fixed NBA games and also news on how the Pats will use Tim Tebow. Onto the NBA, it has been reported that David Stern has stepped down along with 6 other head NBA executives. Also the NBA has bought all 20 teams whose owners were involvedin the scandal and will look to sell them to new groups. Only thing though is that most aren’t interested in buying a team like the Wizards so the league is looking to make a way for people to want to buy these teams. Make sure to check back often for more details on this story."

Re: Houston We Have A Problem: A NBA 2K13 Fantasy Draft Association

“Yo Steve, what you think we gonna do now? You think we going to lose our jobs?

“Walt, calm down man they’ll get the league back going again, here just sit down and relax.

Steve Calsteer and Walt Fibera were childhood friends, going all the way back to when they fathers were teammates playing professional basketball in France. Somehow the two of them reunited on their journeys. Walthad pretty much always been in an NBA office his whole working career or at leastworking on an NBA team, he started out as an intern for the Bucks then he wenton to become a scout for the Lakers, then a scout for another team so on and soforth as he climbed the ladder up, up, up until now where he is the assistant GM for the Houston Rockets and his best friend Steve, is the head of scouting. You could almost say he started from the bottom and now he’s here. Steve had asimilar journey, but had a brief GM stint before he was fired.

        “Walt! Get in here, quick!”

        “What is it?”

        “Just Look!”

They both look at the TV where the recently hired A.J. Terera (new commissioner of the NBA) is standing at a podium.

“Steve, turn it up! I can’t hear what he’s saying!”

Steve turns up the volume and they hear Terera explain howthey are going to have a “redraft” of every single player in the NBA.

“Yes, we are going to have a complete redo of every team. It will be like a fantasy draft if you have ever play fantasy sports before.(audience chuckles and you see A.J. smirk) We are hoping this will make owners want to purchase teams and it will help balance out teams as we are trying to make an effort to stop superteams. The draft will be a “snake draft" as the team who drafts last one round will draft frist the next and draft order will be determined by a draft lottery. The redraft will be one month from now, so GM’s, study up(He laughs softly) and other questions?"

Walt and Steve stand there speechless as A.J. Tereracontinues to take questions.

“So Walt, what the hell just happened?”

“I’ll explain once I figure out what is going on (laughs)”

          **Phone Ringing**

          "Hello... who is this?"

"This is Leslie Alexander(Owner of the Houston Rockets), Walt, I got some great news for you. You got the job! You're going to be our next GM!"

"Really! Oh my God... Oh my God! This is happening!"

          "Uh.... you okay there Walt?"

"I'm fine sir, thank you, thank you so much!"

"We went over all the interviews and decided we liked you the best. You fit in with the staff well and you've shown you're great at finding talent, plus you're already within the organization. So I'm going to need you to get ready for the redraft in 2 weeks, I called today because the lottery is tonight and you need to start looking at who we might be able to get."

"Okay sir, I'll get right to work!"

"We have an eager worker here I guess (laughs), and please call me Leslie."

"Okay great sir... I... I mea...I mean Leslie."

(Laughs) "Okay see you in the office tomorrow, and also, now we need an assistant GM now that you have taken over this position, I'll let you decide who you want to work with on this one"

"Okay Leslie, I think I have someone in mind"

          **Hangs Up**
          **Dials Phone**

          "Steve my man what's up!?"

The norm, getting chicks, just messing man. I'm at home getting drunk and watching some tape of some of these players I haven't gotten to see much this year"

"Ummm... shouldn't you be doing that sober?"

"Naw man, it's more of a challenge when you don't know who you are watching... I'm just messing with you I'm sober as can be"

Okay good, because you just became the assistant GM of the Houston Rockets!!"

          "I what?"

"Dude, Steve, I was just named the GM and I get to be my assistant, and I'm picking you!"

"I think you're the drunk one now"

"No for real I just got off the phone with Leslie Alexander"

"Really Walt! That's awesome! Look, I got to go watch this lottery in a little bit, I'll talk to you later."

          "Okay man, see ya"

September 16, 8:40 Est: New York City

"Hello everybody, welcome tothe 2013 NBA Redraft lottery, we have put a ping pong ball with each teams logo into this bowl. We will mix up the bowl and draw 1 by 1 until we have each and every team with their drafting spot." Commissioner A.J.Terera used a handle to turn the bowl head over heels multiple times thenslowly stopped and reached his hand into the big bowl. “The 30thpick in the 2013 NBA redraft goes to… the Portland Trailblazers!”

September 16, 9:15 Est: Houston, Texas

“Well at least we don’t have the last pick.”

“Walt, we needed to get top five, 12 doesn’t get us s***.”

There’ll still be decent talent onthe board Steve, we won’t get a bona fide superstar, but maybe we can get a young budding star like Kyrie Irving or Steph Curry.”

“In your dreams Walt, we’ll getstuck with like Joe Johnson or Deron Williams.”

“Okay look who’s going to go top 12? We got Bron, KD, CP3, DWade, Melo, Westbrook, Rose, Dwight, Rondo, Kobe, maybeParker or Duncan and if they take either of the two we get Curry or Irving. OrHarden whom the fans love, or a big like Bynum or Love. Plus we get a decentpick in the 2nd round.”

Hmmm, well I guess, but Kobe probably won’t go top 12 and Duncan won’t either

“If Kobe falls to us we’re gonnatake him! He’s got 2 superstar years left, that’s that same as LeBron, you’re only going to get 2 years out of Bron before he becomes a free agent! Any way Steve a different topic, what kind of team to we want? A shooting, an athletic,a high tempo or what?”

“Walt, I think we need a greatscoring team, a shooting backcourt, an all-around small forward, a stretch PF, and then maybe a shot blocking center to save us when we can’t guard anyone.”

“Sounds good to me, look I got to go I’ll catch you at the office and we can look at some tape.”

            “Cool, see ya Walt”

Questions And Notes Heading Into NBA Redraft

              1. Who will Bucks take at #1? Will they take LeBron or KD? LeBron's the better overal player here, but he is older and has a contract needing extension in 2 years.

              2. Will teams favor their old players? This is an interesting take one this one. Will you see team be partial to old their old players. For example if the Clippers have a chance to get Blake Griffin or Lamarcus Aldridge, would thy take the better player in Aldridge? Or will hey go with a hometown favorite in Blake Griffin?

              3. Will team prefer veterans or youngsters? Also an interesting take, young players have more potential for future years, but veterans have the experience to make plays today. So do you take Paul Peirce or Chandler Parsons? And the question is do you want to win today or tomorrow?

                NBA Redraft Review

Fear The Deer? Through all the rumors of the Bucks taking Kevin Durant with the 1st pick, they decided to go with former Miami Heat star LeBron James. With LeBron is it time to once again "Fear The Deer"? Pairing LeBron with Tyreke Evans and Ray Allen could be one potent offense.

Well... that's ironic. With Kobe going to the Suns, Melo on the Heat, CP3 on the Lakers we will get to see some players on their rival teams and well for Chris Paul, we get to see what probably should have happened in real life

You're back already? The funny thing about this is that some players don't even leave. James Harden is back in Houston, Evan Turner stays in Philly, and Grevis Vasquez is still in the Big Easy.

Players Stock Falling and Rising: It was interesting watching how based on who the team before you picked, would effect your decision. I saw Steph Cury fall all the way to 20 because everyone was trying to grab a center before they "ran out" I mean Chris Bosh went before Curry! Runs on a position in the draft were critical and pretty fun to watch

I will be posting every team's depth chart tomorrow before I start playing the games. But I'll be happy to tell you where a certain player went if you are curious. And also, anyone know how to make the table you can make have lines(like the 1st round draft one) any help would be appreciated. Hope you're enjoying this so far!

I might get it out tonight, I am done with half of them and will get back to work on them in a few minutes. If I don't you will get that tomorrow along with the first two games I played, so expect a lot of content tomorrow no matter what!

Edit: No preseason power ranking, as it's a fantasy draft and most teams are fairly evenly matched, I'll get one up in the monthly around the league though.

Ibaka, Leornard, and Harden Shine In Season Opener

All you can say is WOW after a coming out performance like that. The Rockets waltzed out to a 110-77victory over the Detroit Pistons behind a great overall team performance. As a team they shot 56% from the field, were +6 in rebounding, and had 66 points in the paint. 9 players had at least 7 points for the Rockets and 4 scored in double digits. James Harden led them with 20 points and 6 assists shooting an efficient 8-14 from the field. Ibaka had an amazing performance getting 17 points grabbing 10 boards and getting 2 blocks (but altering many more). Kawhi Leornard wasn’t far behind with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and some amazing defense. Ryan Anderson, Mo Harkless, and Jason Thompson each had 8 points and 6 boards while Isaiah Thomas had 7 points and 8 assists (bad shooting performance though going 2-9 from the floor). Tyrus Thomas had 3 blocks off the bench and Beno Udrih had 9 points and 9 assists also gathering 2 steals.

On the other hand the Detroit Pistons had a tough day, they shot 40% from the field and got outrebounded, and gave up 66 points in the paint. The rookie Damian Lillard was the lone bright spot with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Brook Lopez just couldn’t get going only finishing with 8 points and only 1 rebound.

Enough with the stats let’s get to the game. The Rockets had a good first quarter going into the second with a 29-21 lead, but the second quarter is where it went wrong. Detroit was able to tie it up, but then Houston went on a 16-2 run and never looked back. Kawhi Leornard had a few sweet dunks and the bench played a major roll. Ibaka had a dominant 1st quarter scoring 11 points, but he didn’t score in the 2nd quarter, I think coach McHale need to work on being more patient and not having his guys jack up so many 3’s, I mean Harden took 5 3’s and only hit 1! But what do I know? I’m just a Houston journalist. One thing I noticed is toward the end of the game, coach McHale was trying different lineups, and oh boy, if we ever get to see that Tyrus Thomas/Ibaka frontcourt again, good luck trying to get to the paint. Also it looks like Kawhi developed a 3 point shot during the offseason; he went 2 for 3 and even got some of his shot fakes to work. All in all great game for Houston and here is your play of the game!

Rockets hold on to win at home against Miami

Rockets pull out a tough one in front of their home crowd in this one. It was a very sloppy game for Houston totaling 21 turnovers, but 51% shooting and holding the Heat to 42% helped them out in the end. Another big stat is FT%; Houston shot 80%, but Miami only shot 68%. Houston started out hot, and Miami just could never put together a run to take the lead. They kept chipping away, but it was too little too late. Also in the middle of the second quarter James Harden went up for a layup and came down hard on his right ankle, he limped off and went to the locker room to have it checked out, luckily there was nothing so he iced it and went back in after half, but he did look a little sluggish in the 2nd half, but he still had an amazing game (and earned himself player of the game honors) at least when he wasn’t coughing (or well with 9 turnovers you could say choking) the ball up. Hope he gets rested up for our next game! That’s all for now Rocketeers, 5…4…3…2…1… Blastoff!
