Re: Hello Brooklyn II: Brooklyn Nets MyGM (PS4)
Author's Note
Well, I finally made the jump to next-gen. I traded in my Xbox 360 and all of my Xbox 360 games, and bought a PS4. At first, I was only able to buy MLB 14 the Show and FIFA 14. But, thanks to a 14 day free trial of PS Plus, a code for $10 in my PS Wallet, and some other money, I was able to download NBA 2K14 to my PS4. So, I will be devoting most of my time (video game wise) to this; a next gen Brooklyn Nets dynasty, at least until Madden 15 comes out.
Why the Nets? I'm a Jersey guy. I've lived in NJ since I was a one year old; though I love the Baltimore Ravens (I was born in Baltimore) I support the Nets as my hometown team. Plus, when the Nets relocated to Brooklyn and rebranded, I thought it was pretty cool. Though I haven't been there, the Baryclay's Center (home of the Nets) looks like a state of the art arena. Plus, this past winter/spring, I'd always tune into "My9", a local channel that broadcasts all/most of the Nets games. When that'd fail, I could always count on the YES network. Granted, the same could be said for the New York Knicks/the MSG network. Yet, as I've explained, something draws me to the Nets more.
This has been a controversial offseason for the Nets. Jason Kidd quickly/shockingly left, leaving this team in a state of turmoil. Again, the Knicks are in a similar state, perhaps even worse, with a new coach/president/CarMelo leaving, but I just like the Nets more.
So, with that, stick around if you'd like. I plan on having this be pretty in-depth, with plenty of writing. I plan on focusing on the Nets but I'll provide coverage of how the rest of the CPU controlled NBA develops. Enjoy.

For reference: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...sociation.html
Only 1 user initiated trade per season ad 1 CPU initiated trade per season
Via Reidskee, A special circumstance will be if a player becomes disgruntled to the point that they want to be traded, in which case I will look for the best offer I can find. Again, though, I will not cheat. I might use the player finder or even the trade finder, but I would only pull the trigger on an offer that could actually happen. If the owner says that I have to trade or release a player, though, I have no control over the matter. That player has to go….Make trades realistic (would the team do it in real life)
I’ll trade draft picks to match real life trade with Celtics (if necessary)

41-50 wins
Free agent signings are, for the most part, limited to players who are 75 OVR or lower. Two exceptions: You can sign a free agent if there is a player in the 76-80 OVR range that is 33 or older, or you can sign a free agent if there is a younger player in the 76-80 OVR range that will be stuck in that range for the rest of their careers, but ONLY if it fits a need.
51+ wins
You can sign anyone you want, but you are only allowed to sign players, especially stars, based on your team needs. For example, if I wanted to sign someone like Kevin Durant, but I already have Tobias Harris, I cannot sign Durant. However, if I don't have a shooting guard and a top talent is available, I'm free to negotiate if I wish to."Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

The 2013-2014 NBA Awards
MVP: Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder
Durant finally overtook LeBron James as the best player in the NBA (this season.) Once again, Durant has guided his OKC Thunder to the playoffs, during which they will be considered a Finals Favorite.
Rookie of the Year: Michael Carter-Williams, Philadelphia 76ers
Despite the 76ers' terrible season, Carter-Williams was a young star, and brings home the award. Nets fans will argue that Mason Plumlee should have won, but "MCW" has all but jhad the award won all season long.
Defensive Player of the Year: Joakim Noah
Noah keeps getting better and better. In the absence of Derrick Rose and with the departure of Luol Deng, Noah has become the face of this franchise.
Coach of the Year: Greg Popovich, San Antonio Spurs
Popovich has done it again.Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

Re: Hello Brooklyn II: Brooklyn Nets MyGM (PS4)
2013-2014 Brooklyn Nets Regular Season in Review
The Nets continued their rebirth this past season. New coach Jason Kidd, a rookie coach, guided a team full of stars: Deron Williams, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Joe Johnson, Andray Blatche, Andrei Kirlilenko, and others. Kidd was suspended for the first two games of the season after a DWI charge. " On November 5, Kidd had his first victory as head coach in a 104-88 win over the Utah Jazz. On November 28, Kidd was fined $50,000 by the NBA for appearing to instruct his player Tyshawn Taylor to bump into him and intentionally spill a cup of soda on the court in order to stop the game so his team could draw up a last-second offensive play against the Lakers." Clearly, Kidd had some learning to do.
The Nets sat at 10-21 at the end of 2013. Star center Brook Lopez was lost for the season, and the playoffs, in December. The 2013-2014 saw several trades; the Nets acquired Marquis Teague from the Bulls for Tornike Shengelia. Tyshawn Taylor was sent to the Pelicans for the draft rights of Edin Bavčić. Lastly, the team traded for the Kings' Marcus Thornton, who has been an inconsistent yet good shooter. For Thornton, the Nets traded away Jason Terry and Reggie Evans.
The Nets signed center Jason Collins, making him the first openly gay player in any of the four major sports leagues in the United States. The team also signed Jorge Gutierrez after sending him to the D-League in October. Both men started a few games at the end of the season.
Again, the Nets were 10-21 at the end of 2013. Brooklyn had virtually no shot of making the playoffs. Then, something clicked. The Nets went 34-17 in 2014, with a 28-13 home record overall. The Nets went about three months without losing at home. Brooklyn clinched the playoffs, then purposely tanked April to face the Raptors in the playoffs rather than the Bulls.Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

Re: Hello Brooklyn II: Brooklyn Nets MyGM (PS4)
2013-2014 NBA Playoffs: Round One
To begin the 2013-2014 playoffs, the Brooklyn Nets met the youthful Toronto Raptors. The two teams had opposite styles; the Nets were a team full of experience (others would say that the Nets were full of aging players.) The Raptors were young, and inexperienced in the playoffs, with DeMar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry, Terrence Ross, and others.
The Nets narrowly won game one of the series in the AirCanada Center. Paul Pierce proved to be the dagger, scoring nine of his 15 points in the final quarter of play. Stars DeRon Williams and Joe Johnson both scored 24 points. The Nets forced the Raptors to commit 17 turnovers while only giving the ball away eight times.
Toronto persevered, winning game two (also in Canada) to tie the series at 1-1. DeMar DeRozan had a huge game after struggling in the first game of the series (his playoff debut.) The Nets kept it close, but unlike game one, Paul Pierce's shots weren't connecting. Toronto crushed Brooklyn in the rebound game, and it reflected in the outcome.
Brooklyn won game three to take a lead in the series (this was the first game of the postseason at home for the Nets.) It wasn't pretty; the Nets nearly choked, giving away a 15 point fourth quarter lead. Yet , once more stars DeRon Williams and Joe Johnson ensured a Brooklyn victory.
Toronto evened the series with a game 4 victory in Brooklyn, winning it's first playoff game on the road since 2001. The game was tied heading into the final quarter of regulation, but the Raptors went on a 9-0 run and held the Nets to only 12 fourth quarter points. Joe Johnson and Deron Williams, previously the heroes for the Nets, were not factors this time. Also, unlike the other games, the Nets couldn't hold on to the ball.
This already exciting first round playoff series returned to Canada for a pivotal game five. The series was tied 2-2, and the winner of this game would take the lead in the series. The Raptors somehow won despite giving away a 26 point lead. Kyle Lowry tied his career high with 36 points while DeMar Derozan iced the game with some big free throws late in the contest. Joe Johnson scored 30 points, and role player Mirza Teletovic scored 17 to keep the game closer than it should have been. A 32-8 run by the Nets tied the game late in the fourth, but Toronto closed out the victory.
After such a heartbreaking loss, the Nets were happy to return home for a win or go home situation in game six. The Nets never trailed in this game en route to tying the series 3-3. The tough, physical Nets brutalized Toronto in the paint in the first half and also held Kyle Lowry in check.
The seventh game in many playoff series are almost always exciting. By this point, both teams have scratched and clawed their way, not only to make the playoffs, but to stay in the chase for the championship. The Raptors and Nets had already endured six wild games, and it all came down to this; game seven in Toronto, the winner would get to move to the second round while the lsoer would have to watch the playoffs from home. The Nets made some milestones in this game; "With the win Jason Kidd becomes the first rookie coach to win a Game 7 in NBA history. This was also the first Game 7 win in Nets franchise history."
Once more, Paul Pierce was the dagger, ensuring a Brooklyn victory. Pierce blocked a last second Kyle Lowry layup to end the game, sending the Nets to the second round. Joe Johnson was also a hero once again, scoring 11 of 26 points in the fourth quarter. Marcus Thornton was a big factor, with 17 points off the bench while Kevin Garnett recorded a double-double.Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

Re: Hello Brooklyn II: Brooklyn Nets MyGM (PS4)
2013-2014 NBA Playoffs Round 2: Brooklyn Nets vs Miami Heat
The Nets just barely survived a seven game series with the Raptors in the first round to advance, while the Heat swept the Charlotte Bobcats in the first round. The Heat were well rested, and heavily favored as Miami had won two straight NBA Championships and was seeking a three-peat. The Nets swept the Heat in 4 regular season meetings, but most people knew that would not matter come playoff time. Yet, the Nets had proven that they could beat the Heat, and that they were not afraid.
The Heat dominated game one in Miami, plain and simple. Former league MVP LeBron James scored 22 points while Miami led by 23 at one point in the fourth quarter. The Heat decisively won the third quarter en route to winning the game. Paul Pierce had a bad game, and nobody else on the Nets stepped up.
Game 2 in Miami was much closer than game one, but Miami still emerged as victors. You never want to go down 2-0 in a playoff series, especially against a team as good as the Heat. The Heat won their eighth straight playoff game, as LeBron James scored 22 points once more.(Five Miami players scored in double digits.) Unheralded Mirza Teletovic led the Nets with 20 points, but it wasn't enough for a Nets victory.
The Nets needed to win game 3 to have any chance of surviving the playoff series, and did so. In the home opener of the series, Brooklyn defeated Miami by double digits. The Nets were efficient from long range and also won the rebounding battle. LeBron James scored a series high 28 points, but six Nets players scoring in double digits was too much for even James to overcome. Joe Johnson led the Nets with 19 points but Andray Blatche and Mirza Teletovic were big factors off the bench.
Game 4 was also in Brooklyn, but Miami won this one (narrowly.) This loss pushed the Nets to the brink of elimination as Miami took a 3-1 lead in the series. LeBron James tied his career-playoff high with an astounding 49 points. Five Nets scored in double digits to keep it close, but it wasn't enough. The Nets were unusually bad in shooting percentage from long range. Joe Johnson led the Nets with 18 points but couldn't give his team a win.
This was it; win or go home for Brooklyn. Game five in the second round of the playoffs against the two-peat champion Heat. The Nets led for much of the second half, making this loss that much more painful. Ray Allen hit the go-ahead 3 pointer for the Heat as Miami won 96-94. LeBron James scored 29 points while Dwayne Wade was just behind him with 28. Joe Johnson was again the hero for the Nets, leading all scorers with 34 points. Yet, most of the time, one man can not win games, as the Nets collectively could not step up. A 12-0 Heat run in the fourth sealed the Nets' fate.Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

Re: Hello Brooklyn II: Brooklyn Nets MyGM (PS4)
Better Luck Next Year: The Nets Have Been Eliminated From the 2014 NBA Playoffs
The Nets weren't even supposed to make the playoffs. A 10-21 start to the year left virtually no hope for a postseason run. Yet, this team persevered and surged for most of the 2014 portion of this NBA season. Then, a wild, exciting (and ugly) seven game series with the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the playoffs pushed the Nets to the edge. Yet, veterans such as Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett showed their experience in a crucial game seven victory.
The Nets then met the two time reigning/defending NBA Champion Heat in the second round. Brooklyn beat Miami 4 times in 4 tries in the regular season. However, Miami was well rested after only having to play four games in the first round. Brooklyn was running on tired legs after having endured a seven game series. Yet, many Brooklyn fans were optimistic heading into this playoff series. After losing the first two games of the series (falling to a 2-0 deficit) the Nets picked up a win when they needed it most in game 3. Then, Brooklyn let LeBron James score 49 points en route to a game 4 Heat victory in Brooklyn. The Nets were "this close" to surviving, and winning game five, but couldn't finish/win the game.
So, the Brooklyn Nets season is over. Where does the team go from here? What does the future hold? Should Nets fans/players alike be optimistic or fearful for the offseason/next year? Stay tuned.Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

Re: Hello Brooklyn II: Brooklyn Nets MyGM (PS4)
The San Antonio Spurs Are Your 2014 NBA Champions
With 2013's heart breaking NBA Finals Game Seven loss to the Heat still fresh in the minds of Spurs players and fans alike, there was as much excitement as fear for Spurs supporters when it became clear that there would be a rematch in the 2014 NBA Finals. Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and reigning Coach of the Year Gregg Popovich had already won three championships together (2003, 2005, and 2007) along with the 1999 Championship that Popovich and Duncan won together.) The Heat had won two straight championships, with the Big 3( former league MVP LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh) and were seeking a three peat.
Many expecting this series to go seven games, as the 2013 version did. There was no clear favorite to win the series either; analysts seemed split 50/50 (half picked a Heat victory, half predicted revenge for the Spurs.)
Instead, this series went five games. The Spurs played what many are calling perfect basketball en route to being crowned NBA Champions once more. Kawii "Sugar K" Leonard was crowned Finals MVP. The Spurs truly are a dynasty; even if Parker, Duncan, and or Ginobili retire as many expect, they've got the pieces to continue to contend for quite some time. Is this the end for Popovich and the Big 3? Will these legends ride into the sunset after winning the NBA Finals? Time will tell, but it appears that most of this team will be back for at least one more season. Oppositely, what does this mean for the Heat and its Big 3? LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade all have early termination options. Therefore, all three could hit free agency this offseason if they so desire. regardless, this offseason/free agency will be one of the biggest/most exciting offseasons in the past few years.Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

Re: Hello Brooklyn II: Brooklyn Nets MyGM (PS4)
Jason Kidd Leaves the Brooklyn Nets; Traded to Milwaukee Bucks
A failed powerplay, a rapid turn of events, and one shocking weekend later, things have changed drastically for the Brooklyn Nets. Head coach Jason Kidd tried to gain power , as he attempted to become the leader of the team's basketball operations. The Nets rejected Kidd's request, and allowed him to interview to the Milwaukee Bucks. The interview wasn't supposed to lead to anything, at least at first. Instead, the interview was successful, and soon Kidd, the Bucks and the Nets began discussing compensation. The Nets wanted a first round pick in return for Kidd, something that (at least right now) they won't have for quite some time thanks to the trade with the Boston Celtics that sent Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and others to Brooklyn. Instead, the Milwaukee Bucks traded two second round picks to the Nets for Kidd's services.
Kidd's tenure in Brooklyn is officially over. Kidd's one year as coach was...rocky, to say the least. Kidd couldn't stay out of trouble in his first few months as coach, earning multiple fines while his team began the season 10-21. Kidd helped guide the Nets to a very strong 2014 portion of the season, guiding Brooklyn to the playoffs. Kidd earned two eastern Conference Coach of the Month Awards. Kidd does deserve some credit for his brief tenure as coach of the Nets; he did face quite a it of adversity.
Yet, Kidd has turned himself into a villain in the eyes of many Brooklyn Nets fans. Kidd's job as head coach of the Nets was his first of the kind. It's acceptable when well-established, respected and accomplished coaches (Stan Van Gundy, for example) are named both the head coach and President of Basketball Operations for a team. Arguably, it's unreasonable for a coach coming off of his "rookie year" that hasn't truly earned that kind of respect (Jason Kidd, anyone?) to make that kind of power play.
Jason Kidd is gone, and Nets GM Billy King is one of the men responsible for cleaning up the mess Kidd has caused.
Things have spiraled out pf control in Brooklyn. Brooklyn Nets GM Billy King views Kidd's departure as a " [big] bump in the road." King went on to say that " the Nets will be able to overcome it because "the franchise is bigger than one person.'" Jason Kidd is officially gone; who's next?Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

A couple things to point out while I wait for NBA 2K14 to finish downloading:
Timeline wise, this will start after the NBA Finals while incorporating the ongoing Kidd/new coach storyline.
I will try to only do 1 User initiated trade per season barring any crises, and I'll use the OS Trade Finder thread to gauge trade fairness.
I will use a play one, sim two system for games.Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust
