Report: 76ers waive 6 players, sign two prospects



76ers GM, Sam Hinkie, has had busy summer and it looks like he may finally be done with adding and substracting pieces to the lowly Philadelphia 76ers squad.



Adrian Wojnarowski has learned that the 76ers will waive 6 players with unguaranteed contracts and that they will sign 2 young prospects that they hope will grow into role players.

76ers waived Casper Ware, Elliot Williams, Hollis Thompson, Arnett Moultrie, Brandon Davies and Jarvis Varnado. It is still unclear why 76ers waived two young prospects in Moultrie and Thompson who showed promise last season. Moultrie's door to the rotation were closed by Bennett's acquisition and Noel's recovery. Two potential stars in Dario Šarić and Joel Embiid will most probably watch their 76ers on TV or from the stands.

Hinkie offered a chance to 6'8 scoring Small Forward LaQuinton Ross after he went on scoring rampage in Summer league scoring 23 or more points 4 games in a row. Ross has great potential to become 3andD prospect considering it was measured he had 7'2 wingspan at the 2014 Draft Combine.

Second 20-year old forward Hinkie brought to the Philly was James McAdoo Junior. James is active player grabbing 6.8 rebounds in 30.1 minutes at his lone season in college. He shot low 45.8 percent from the field but he was asked to create and on this Philly squad his job will be to defend and make putback dunks and layups as well as run in the transition.

Dario Šarić's contract with Efes invalid, Embiid travels to Serbia



Two stories have been the focus of the NBA ever since Love trade became official. Both of them included, probably, the worst team in the Association - Philadelphia 76ers. Both of them included two rookies, two international rookies - Dario Šarić and Joel Embiid.

Apparently Dario Šarić's contract with Efes that was supposed to last 3 years with buyout clause after first year is - invalid, per Wojnarowski. Dario's (former) agent Mirko Raznatovic was under investigation of FIBA and it was found out that he has talked Dario and his family into signing with Efes. It was found out that Raznatovic had personal gains from that deal, approximately 500 thousand euros which he received 'under the table'. Mirko Raznatovic is banned for life from all basketball actions. Also Efes is banned from Euroleague for 4 years with transfer embargo taking place for 2 years.

Dario is expected to sign a rookie contract with Philadelphia 76ers and help them speed up the process of rebuilding.

Joel Embiid is flying to Serbia, per Broussard. Sure, Belgrade is beautiful city with great night life. But, that's not the purpose of the trip for young Cameroonian center. He is there to visit a 'Miracle Worker' aka Marijana Kovacevic. Marijana is using alternative methods of healing her patients. This trip is as shady as those of Kobe Bryant to Germany. Marijana did her vodoo thingy with football/soccer star Diego Costa who was supposed to be out for 4-6 months but came back in 6 weeks just in time for World Cup in Brazil.

It is expected that Joel, Noel and Saric will be staring frontcourt for new Philadelphia 76ers. Three rookies, three Rookie of the Year candidates, three potential perennial all-stars. What a great day to be a 76er fan.

Coaching Diary: Presenting Philadelphia 76ers Roster

Hello 76ers fans, I'm Philly Coach Brett Brown and today is first edition of Coaching Diary in which I'll try to interact more with the fans of our NBA basketball team. In this edition I will try to show you my vision of the team and what I think of every player. So...let's get started with expected starting lineup for Season Opener versus Charlotte Hornets which will be played on 30th of October, 2014. Next edition will feature players who are expected to contribute off the bench.

Michael Carter-Williams

Michael Carter Williams, a.k.a. MCW, is reigning Rookie of the Year. He looks like a reincarnation of Penny Hardaway...just a lite version...for now. We'll look for him to lead the team in the future as he takes the role of the Captain with the departure of Thad Young. He's expected to defend, distribute, score and rebound. In that order.

Predicted Stat Line 2014/2015: 33.4 MPG, 18.6 PPG, 5.6 RBG, 6.8 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 44 FG%, 33 3PT%

Jason Richardson

J-Rich is our only veteran and he takes on the role of developing youngster as well as hit some 3 pointers while incorporating defense in his game. I want him to develop into seasoned 3 and D guy seeing as he's our best outside shooter. With MCW he should form biggest frontcourt in the NBA.

Predicted Stat Line 2014/2015: 25.3 MPG, 11.3 PPG, 3.2 RBG, 2.0 APG, 0.4 SPG, 0.2 BPG, 41 FG%, 35 3PT%

Dario Šarić

Dario is well...a tweener who likes to handle the ball. And that's what he'll be. Working in the high post while handling the ball and distributing it as he sees fit. He is clutch and already an improved shooter in these three weeks with our coaching staff. Expect him to be the 2014 version of Boris Diaw for this team. Also expect him to contend for Rookie of the Year award. Relentless rebounder and best passing forward, great weak-side defender.

Predicted Stat Line 2014/2015: 31.2 MPG, 12 PPG, 6.4 RBG, 5.6 APG, 1.2 SPG, 1.0 BPG, 47 FG%, 32 3PT%

Nerlens Noel

While he was expected to come in the league and be a Center he has shown enough improvement that I'm confident enough to put him as starting Power Forward alongside another rookie Center. Noel is great defender and rebounder with solid post moves. Expect him to contend for both ROTY award and DOPY award. Yes, I'm that confident in this young man.

Predicted Stat Line 2014/2015: 29.9 MPG, 12.4 PPG, 8.9 RBG, 1.3 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.6 BPG, 53 FG%

Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid is top-notch two-way Center. If I had to describe him in two words it'd be ''franchise player''. That's who he is. Expected to make immediate impact on both sides of the court. Will be getting more minutes as I see it fit. If he impresses with his stamina and fatigue he can expect 35 minutes per game. I have no concern with his health. No doubt he's next big thing. Howard who?

Predicted Stat Line 2014/2015: 31.4 MPG, 14.5 PPG, 8.8 RBPG, 2.3 APG, 0.9 SPG, 1.6 BPG, 56 FG%
