Has Ray Allen Made his last Three-Pointer?

    Jake Allen, Senior Columnist

There have been some reports that free agent Ray Allen, who has been courted by 16 of 30 NBA teams, is leaning toward retirement following the All-Star break. There is nothing guaranteed, however.

Allen, who last played for Miami during thier 2014 NBA Finals loss to San Antonio, has been courted notably by Golden State, Oklahoma City, Miami, Cleveland, and Boston. His playing time would be noticably lowered to relieve the grind on the 39 year olds body.

Time will only tell if Allen decides to suit up in yet another jersey for the grind of the NBA season and playoffs. He would undoubtably help a team.

J-Smoove Riding Smoove Pine; Lowry Triple-Double Propels Raptors; Heat Shut Down Pelicans; Do The Thunder Have A New Big 3?

        J-Smoove Riding Smoove Pine
The Houston Rockets announced last night that Josh Smith broke his kneecap in the Rockets' 116-115 loss to the Toronto Raptors last night. Smith confirmed that he will miss 2-4 months with the injury, but in a bizarre twist also seems to have smartened up somewhat, referencing WWII-era US General Douglas MacArthur and his famous "I will return." Smith is not known for his military history prowess, but he will now have plenty of time to brush up and hit the books while he's on the bench. Smith scored 6 points in 13 minutes of action before leaving the game.

        Lowry Triple-Double Propels Raptors
Kyle Lowry scored 23 points, hauled in 10 rebounds, and dished out 11 assists in the Raptors' 116-115 over the Rockets. Lowry also added 5 steals in a phenomenal performance. Lou Williams scored 24 points for the Raptors. Dwight Howard led all players with 25 points and 13 boards, NBA-leading scorer James Harden scored 22, and Trevor Ariza put up a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards. The Rockets outscored the Raptors 35-27 in the 4th quarter but fell just shy of a successful comeback.

        Heat Shut Down Pelicans
The Miami Heat (28-26) used a 33-14 third-quarter drubbing to dominate the New Orleans Pelicans (25-30), winning by more than 30 points (109-77). Luol Deng and Chris Bosh each scored 22 points, with Bosh adding 14 rebounds, and Dwayne Wade scored 11 points and led all players with 7 assists. Omer Asik notched 16 rebounds, but the Pelicans only had 3 players score double-digits in points, led by Tyreke Evans with 18.

Do The Thunder Have A New Big 3?
The Oklahoma City Thunder eked out a 113-112 win over the Charlotte Hornets in Charlotte. Russell Westbrook led the Thunder with 26 points and 11 assists, Kevin Durant added 23 and 4 steals and Reggie Jackson chipped in 21 points and 8 assists. The three have been playing very well together, leading the Thunder (32-23) to the top of the Northwest. It's not a conventional "Big 3" (i.e. a guard, small forward, and big man) but the point of a Big 3 is to win games and there's no question that Westbrook, Durant, and Jackson have been doing that.

Cavs Win 10th Straight; O'Bryant Bucks Trend; Westbrook Continues To Dominate; Postgame Interview With Ty Lawson

            Cavs Win 10th Straight
The Cleveland Cavaliers (42-15) defeated the New York Knicks (28-28) 86-78 behind a double-double from Kevin Love (24 points, 13 boards). Carmelo Anthony led all players with both 28 points and 18 rebounds, but he was the only Knick to score double-digits in points, while 4 Cavaliers hit 10+ points. LeBron James added 20 points and 8 rebounds, Kyrie Irving scored 19 and dished out 5 assists, and Tristan Thompson fell a rebound short of a double-double (10 points, 9 rebounds). The 8-point win is the NBA-leading squad's 10th win in a row, and The Land shows no willingness to lose anytime soon.

            O'Bryant "Bucks" Trend
Johnny O'Bryant III destroyed the ideology that a team goes to its stars in OT, as he scored 23 points on 10-12 shooting and added 10 rebounds as the Bucks (28-27) topped the Hawks (33-23) 131-128 in OT. The Bucks also got large contributions from Brandon Knight (17 points, 12 assists) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (23 points, 6 rebounds) in the high-scoring game. Al Horford scored 25 and hauled in 12 rebounds and Jeff Teague scored a game-high 30 points (to go along with 7 assists) for the Hawks, but Atlanta couldn't capitalize on repeated comebacks as the Bucks held on with 29 overtime points to win.

            Westbrook Continues To Dominate
Russell Westbrook scored 35 points, pacing the NBA for the night and more importantly pacing the roaring Thunder (33-23) to a 129-103 win over the Nuggets (22-33). Westbrook has been on fire recently and on a greater scale, the entire season. What's scary for opponents is that Kevin Durant (26 points, 8 rebounds) and Reggie Jackson (25 points, 7 assists) have also been playing very well. Serge Ibaka also scored 22 points and pulled in 7 rebounds. The Thunder scored 42 points in the 1st quarter for the second straight game.

            Postgame Interview With Ty Lawson
Ty Lawson scored 13 points and had 10 assists and 4 steals in the Nuggets' 129-103 loss to the Thunder.
Q: How do you bounce back from a loss like that?
A: You just have to put it out of your head and start again the next day with a fresh face.

Q: You played well, but Russell Westbrook tore up your team's D to the tune of 35 points. What went wrong?
A: They have so many options on that team that you guard one guy, another's open, so the defense is rarely set. It doesn't help our cause that they can all shoot.

Q: To what do you attribute your consistent play despite being on a team that doesn't look play-off bound?
A: I work hard and I have teammates that can score.

Harden Drops 45 On Timberwolves; Paul's 17 Assists Top Randolph's 15 Rebounds; Klay Thompson Returns From Injury; Postgame Interview With Blake Griffin

                Harden Drops 45 On Timberwolves
The NBA's leading scorer is at it again. James Harden scored 45 points in the Rockets' 138-117 rout of the Timberwolves on 67% shooting (5-11 from 3-point range) and also added 9 assists in the tremendous offensive performance. Harden is averaging 40.3 points per game since the All Star break and the Rockets look poised to contend for a title if Harden keeps up his incredible pace. Dwight Howard added 29 points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets, while Andrew Wiggins scored 25 and Nikola Pekovic put up 22 points and 10 rebounds.

                Paul's 17 Assists Top Randolph's 15 Rebounds
Chris Paul scored 12 points but his 17 assists were the reason the Clippers (38-19) got a win against the Grizzlies (32-23). DeAndre Jordan and J.J. Redick both scored 22 points and Blake Griffin totalled 18 points and 14 rebounds in the 112-93 win. Zach Randolph led all players with 15 rebounds (to go along with 12 points), Marc Gasol scored 25 points for the Grizz and added 9 rebounds, and Mike Conley put up 20 points and dished out 9 assists. The Clippers led by 21 points at the half and coasted the rest of the way, relying on hot shooting (47% from the field, 44% from behind the arc) to get the W.

                Klay Thompson Returns From Injury
The Warriors announced that shooting guard Klay Thompson will be returning to Golden State's line up for their next game against the Atlantic Division leading Toronto Raptors (34-23). Thompson missed two weeks with a broken ankle, but declared on social media that he is good to go for what should be a very entertaining matchup.

                Postgame Interview With Blake Griffin
Blake Griffin scored 18 points and brought down 14 rebounds in the Clippers' 112-93 win against the Grizzlies.
Q: Do you ever just spend like half a practice practicing slam dunks and alley-oops?
A: Of course. Only after wins, of course.

Q: You guys seemed to have nearly the perfect make-up for a title-winning team. How important then is J.J. Redick as a shooter?
A: Well I think every player that steps onto the court is important, it's more a question of what aspects of a game you have, and when you put all the aspects together then you have a great team.

Q: Do you feel like dunking is too easy sometimes? I mean, no car to jump over or anything.
A: No, in this league there's something wrong if anything comes easy.

Swaggy P just got a little more Swaggy!

                      Christina Wilson, Gossip Columnist

Lakers shooting guard Nick Young may not be winning on the court but he is definitely winning off the court. After his celebrity girlfriend Iggy Azalea purchased him a 62 Chevy Impala and had it delivered to Staples Center for Christmas, she has attempted to top that gesture for Valentine's day.

She apparently helped him jump start his own clothing line to help him bring his "swagg" to the world. She & her mentor; rapper T.I. will aid Swaggy in this venture & hope to drop the line late this year.

Teammate Kobe Bryant says it's about time Nick get's his own clothing line and that we will not see him in any "Swaggy P" clothing anytime soon.

Harden, Howard Combine To Clip Clippers
James Harden scored 40 points yet again (he also had 6 assists and 3 steals) and Dwight Howard scored 18 and hauled in 16 rebounds as the Rockets beat the Western Conference-leading Clippers. Los Angeles pulled within 5 points in the 4th quarter, but Patrick Beverly and Harden drained shots and the Rockets held the lead. Houston shot 55% from the field and jumped out to an early 14-point lead after the first quarter. Chris Paul had 18 points and 13 assists but also turned the ball over 7 times for the Clippers, who got 15 boards and 11 points from DeAndre Jordan.

                          Bulls Hold Off Hornets
The Chicago Bulls had a 16-point lead (65-49) at halftime, but the Charlotte Hornets swarmed back with 50 points in the second half, only to lose in the final seconds 100-99. Derrick Rose led the Bulls with 21 points and 8 assists, Jimmy Butler scored 18 points, and Joakim Noah scored 14 points and led all players with 9 rebounds. Kemba Walker led the charge for the Hornets, scoring 25 points, dishing 7 assists, and recording 4 steals. Lance Stephenson scored 19 points and had 6 assists for Charlotte.

Babbitt and Ryan Anderson each had 7 rebounds, while Anderson also scored 35 points for New Orleans, while Jrue Holiday scored 18 points and led all players with 9 assists. Brook Lopez scored 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for the Nets. Brooklyn will get Deron Williams, who missed time with a torn patella tendon, back for their upcoming game.

                          Postgame Interview With Kemba Walker
Kemba Walker scored 25 points and had 7 assists and 4 steals in the Hornets' 100-99 loss to the Chicago Bulls.

Yellz: I'm here with the bearded one; Houston Rockets star shooting guard James Harden. So you're leading the league in scoring, your team is looking like a contender for the championship & you guys have added quite a few pieces to the mix; how are you feeling this year?

Harden: I'm feeling great! I mean like you said, we're competing every night & it's always a good feeling when you know you're in the hunt for a championship.

Yellz: What do you feel this team's chances are of winning the championship this year?

Harden: Good... good. You know... our offense is clicking. Everyone on the team does their part & it just all feels good you know. Our defense is looking really good this year with Dwight in the middle & Trev, we added Corey & honestly I just think we're gonna surprise some people this year.

Yellz: So while we're speaking of defense... how did the rumblings on your defensive commitment impact you heading into this season.

Harden: I think i'm showing everybody that i'm willing to work on that end of the floor this year. Guarding top notch NBA players is not an easy task but I think if i'm gonna lead this team, I gotta do it on both ends of the floor you know.

Yellz: Absolutely. As much as we've seen you work on the defensive end this year; you've been on fire lately... scoring 40 plus points in 3 of your last 5 games. What do you attribute that too?

Harden: Luck? Naw but seriously coach gives me the green light & allows me to play an open game & read the defense & I just attack where i'm given an opening. Having the players that we have really stretches the floor & gives me room to operate so it's not just me, it's everybody being where they need to be on the court.

Yellz: Humble Harden?! Haha that could become your new name... which provides the perfect segway to a tough question. After some of the things that occurred this off-season with players changing teams & comments that were made, what is your relationship with former teammate Chandler Parsons?

Harden: We're cool man. Talked to him a few weeks ago before our game & talked about everything. He was definitely a big part of what we were trying to do the past few seasons & I hated to see him go. But we're good. We both understand that this game is also a business, I mean look at how I ended up here in Houston.

Yellz: Going from a 6th man in OKC to one of the top players in our league has to be vendicating i'm sure. So tell me how does Josh Smith's injury impact your Rocket's chances on winning in the playoffs?

Harden: Aww man I think we have fully capable guys here that are able to step up while J is out. I mean look at how Montie played while Terrence was out earlier this year & now we have Terrence back. We'll hold our own until he returns.

Yellz: Well it's been great talking with you & I honestly can't wait to get back to Houston myself. Good luck to you & your Rockets.
