Bucks Squeeze Out Win Over Suns

Mayo and McDaniels celebrate with a high five

Milwaukee, WI -- The Bucks played in another nail biter tonight, edging out the Suns 114-110. On the back of the Greek Freak's 31 points, Milwaukee was able to extend it's winning streak to three.

In what seems to be a trend, Milwaukee got out to an early lead in the first quarter, only to soften up their defense and allow the opponent to take it right back. Leading by 8 in the first, the Bucks were outscored 29-18 in the third quarter giving Phoenix the lead 53-50 heading into halftime.

"We have a tendency to come out really strong in the opening quarter. But it seems we lack consistency on both ends of the court, giving the other team a chance to get right back in it" said coach Kidd before heading into the locker room.

Phoenix steadily held the lead into the fourth quarter, only trailing once in the third.

Milwaukee put together a strong fourth quarter, pushing out to an 8 point lead with a few minutes left in the game.

The Suns only got it as close as two points, but Antetokounmpo's 12 4th quarter points made sure they would hold on for the victory.

He set a new career-high with his 31 points, and had this to say after the game: "Every day I work on my shot. Every single day I shoot hundreds of jumpers. All I plan on doing is improving and becoming the best I can be." It showed tonight was he shot above 50% and hit quite a few jump shots, as well as three 3-pointers.

Milwaukee has Philly and Minnesota before taking on the Chicago Bulls who are in the top tier with a record of (27-9).

DeRozan, Raptors Too Much For Bucks

DeRozan skies for the slam dunk.

Toronto, CAN -- This was one of those games a Bucks fan hated to watch. From beginning to end, Toronto dominated and made the Bucks seem like a D-League squad.

The combination of DeRozan and Ross was too much for Milwaukee, as the two combined for 45 points.

Milwaukee's Brandon Knight played a decent game offensively, but on the defensive end, he found himself in poor position.

The lack of Sanders in the paint showed as Noel's inexperience shined through as he was out of position opening up the lane for easy bucks in the paint.

Overall, Milwaukee will need to get their act together if they want to stay above .500. On a few positive notes, Jabari Parker was able to play through his ankle injury. Also, the Bucks are well past where they were last season, surpassing their league worst 15 wins a few weeks ago. "We're not happy with mediocrity. I know we're better that this, and hopefully we start playing like it" said guard Brandon Knight after the game.

The Bucks have the Jazz and Pistons at home before heading to San Antonio to take on the defending champs.

If you do play Jabari you may want to limit his minutes or you'll make the injury even worse.

HA! Too bad I didn't read this before my last game. Only gave him 10 minutes of PT but he aggravated it and his recovery time doubled.

                      Bucks To Shop Brandon Knight

Milwaukee, WI -- In recent trade rumors, the Milwaukee Bucks are shopping standout point guard Brandon Knight. Many fans are upset, but when you truly thing about it, it makes sense for the Bucks.

Knight, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is putting Milwaukee between a rock and a hard place. Essentially, he's saying, pay me the big bucks or I'll shop free agency. The Bucks aren't completely sold on him as the franchise point guard, and it is understandable with his almost four turnovers per game, and rumored locker room issues.

On the other hand, Michael Carter-Williams, the sophomore guard out of Syracuse, shows great promise. He is long, athletic, a good passer and great defender. On the down side, he has no jump shot whatsoever. If the trade is to go down, Kidd's offense will undergo a major change as Knight is the team's leading scorer at 20.5 PPG, leading passer with 6.5 APG and leads in steals as well, with 1.4 SPG.

MCW's stat line this season is a little down from last year. Playing less minutes than his rookie season, he is scoring 13 PPG, grabbing 5 RPG and dishing out 5.3 APG. His steals remain the same at 1.9 SPG. His overall FG% has jumped from a dismal 40% to 46% this season, so he is showing steady improvement, but without a consistent jump shot, he is a risk.

The Bucks will be freeing up roughly 1M in cap space, which is nothing significant. The main issue here is will Knight bail leaving Milwaukee without a solid PG1? It's a risk Milwaukee may not be willing to make, despite Knight's tremendous season.

Only time will tell if the rumors are true, but if it does go down, we see it playing out like so: Milwaukee sends Brandon Knight and a 2016 1st Round Draft pick in exchange for MCW and the 76ers 2015 1st Round Draft Pick. Seems fair enough as Knight is well past MCW in development and presents more immediate success, whereas Carter-Williams will take some time to get to the level he is capable of.

                            Mayo's 40 Career-High In Win Over Blazers

O.J. Mayo couldn't be stopped tonight

Milwaukee, WI -- "Tonight was just one of those nights. I've really been pushing myself in practice and workouts so that I can play at this level more consistently. I think it's paying off" said O.J. Mayo in the post-game press conference after his 40 point outing against the Trailblazers saturday night.

The Bucks finally ended their six game losing streak two nights ago to the Magic in dramatic fashion, but tonight they wanted to really show the league that their record doesn't define them. And they did so against a very good Portland team.

In the first, Milwaukee came out hot, earning themselves a 12-2 lead. Portland was never able to get the lead down to single digits until the fourth quarter.

In the second half, trailing by 12, the Blazers turned on their jets and would mount a pretty strong comeback led by Damian Lillard who posted 24/6/11 tonight, but shot poorly only hitting 9-25 shots.

This game saw exceptional big men play. Portland's Lopez scored 24 and grabbed 18 rebounds. He would be outdone on the boards by the Bucks big Nerlens Noel, who grabbed 19 boards in this game, along with 17 points and 3 blocks.

It was refreshing to Bucks fans to see such a strong outing by their home team. A strong push by Portland had the fans holding their breath late, but three quick bucks by Mayo would put the game away as Milwaukee held on to win by 9.

Milwaukee takes on the Raptors again this Monday night at 8pm on ESPN2. They then take on the Lakers and the Rockets the following week.

                            Box Score

                            Bucks
