    Boozer benched by Scott

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Veteran forward Carlos Boozer wasn't happy after being told he would benched in favor of rookie forward Julius Randle, who will start in Boozer's place on Christmas day against the Chicago Bulls.

Boozer is averaging a career low in points and rebounds.

"Obviously it was a surprise," Boozer said after practice Monday. "I didn't expect that, but if helps our team win, I'm a team player."

Boozer left without speaking to reporters Tuesday night after the Lakers were defeated by the Golden State Warriors, but Lakers coach Byron Scott confirmed after the game that Boozer wasn't pleased with the move. Scott said he made the lineup switch, which also included benching starter Jeremy Lin for Jordan Clarkson, to help improve the Lakers' defensive intensity.

"That's just his opinion," Boozer said. "I have a different opinion. I'll keep it to myself."

Lakers general manager Tennell Williams pulled Boozer aside and chatted with him for several minutes after practice Monday.

"Just me and Mitch talking, that's not for you guys, that's just for us," Boozer said.

"It's different coming off the bench. I've never come off the bench my whole career," Boozer said, adding that he approached Nick Young for advice on the adjustment. "I talked to [Young] about it, trying to stay warm on the bench, things like that. Hopefully we can start getting wins, if it works."

The Good: Juilus Randle. The Lakers 7th overall pick had a career night in the scoring department against the Memphis Grizzlies. Randle scored a career high 24 points against the Grizzlies in the Lakers 108-92 win. Randle also added 4 rebounds, 2 assist, and a blocked shot while shooting 12-of-20 from the field in 32 minutes of action and was a team high +21 in the victory.

By The Bad: Mike Conley. Mike Conley couldn't find his shooting touch in the loss to the Lakers. Conley finished with 11 points on a sub-par 4-of-16 shooting in 37 minutes. The 8th year point guard out of Ohio State struggled to find his jumper going up against the length of rookie point guard Jordan Clarkson. Conley did have 8 assist and 5 steals in the losing effort.

X-Factor: Kobe Bryant. The Black Mamba continued his impressive and efficient season against the grizzlies. Bryant finished with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assist, and a team high 5 steals in the win. Bryant shot the ball well finishing 7-of-12 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free throw line in 34 minutes of action.

Rookie Watch: Jordan Clarkson. The Lakers 2nd round pick has made Byron Scott look good by moving him into the starting lineup. Clarkson brought it on both ends of the floor against the Grizzlies with some great defense on Mike Conley and some impressive play on the offensive end. Clarkson finished with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 6 steals, and a blocked shot on 5-of-6 shooting in just 30 minutes.

The Good: Nick Young. After Kobe Bryant fouled out late in the 3rd quarter, Nick Young stepped up and helped led the Lakers to their 2nd straight win. Swaggy P scored a team high 26 points with 2 rebounds in just 28 minutes off the bench. Young also shot the ball extremely well finishing 8-of-9 from the floor, a perfect 4-of-4 from three, and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. The 8th year forward was a +12 for the Lakers in the victory.

By The Bad: Victor Oladipo. The Magic's 2nd year shooting guard struggled in a bad way against the lowly Lakers. Victor Oladipo had a horrible night shooting as he went 3-of-17 from the field including a mind blowing 0-of-10 from behind the arc in the loss. Dipo finished with just 8 points and 4 rebounds in 29 minuted for the Magic. The Magic goes as far as Oladipo goes, and he didn't go too far against the Lakers.

X-Factor: Julius Randle. Julius Randle had a strong outing against the Magic and against the forward that went three picks ahead of him in the draft. Randle notched another double-double, this time finishing with 20 points and a career high 15 rebounds in 33 minutes for the Lakers. Randle went 10-of-18 from the field has he muscled his way into the paint against Aaron Gordon all night long.

Rookie Watch: Jordan Clarkson. Randle wasn't the only Laker rookie to get a double-double, Jordan Clarkson also picked up one against the Magic. In 31 minutes, the 6'5 point guard scored 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field with 3 rebounds, a career high 13 assist, and 2 steals with a blocked shot. Clarkson made four of his seven shot attempts in the win over the Magic.
