Randle and Clarkson named to All-Rookie teams

The NBA announced it's All Rookie teams today and two Lakers made the teams.

Julius Randle, the 7th overall pick in last June's draft, was named All-Rookie 1st team. Randle appeared in all 82 games for the Lakers this season and averaged 12.9 points and 7.8 rebounds while shooting 47% from, the field. The former Kentucky Wildcat broke out after replacing Carlos Boozer in the starting line. Randle also finished 2nd in rookie of the year voting.

2nd round pick Jordan Clarkson was also rewarded with being named to the All-Rookie 2nd team. Clarkson, who was drafted by the Washington Wizards and then traded to the Lakers, also played in all 82 games for the Lakers and averaged 8.0 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 5.6 steals a game.

After having the worst season in Lakers history, the team now has two young building blocks for the future.

Lakers Steal Vogel Away From Pacers

El Segundo -- After the sudden resignation of head coach Byron Scott, the Los Angeles Lakers were in need of a new coach with the 2015 NBA Draft just a few weeks away. And it appears they have found their man.

The Lakers and Frank Vogel came to terms on a 4-year $21M contract for Vogel to become the next coach of the Lakers. Vogel is fresh off winning the Finals with the Indiana pacers, the coach's and the team's first championship. This is a big hire for the Lakers as they look to bounce back from having the worst season in team history.

The Lakers held interviews with Melvin Hunt, Jeff Hornacek, Quin Snyder, and David Joerger before choosing Vougl to lead the team. Vogel and his wife were flown out to Los Angeles on the team's private plane to meet with General manager Tennell Williams and the Buss family.

"We feel like Frank has all the coaching tools that can help bring this team their 17th championship. I personally feel like it's a steal when you can hire the coach that just lead his team to an NBA championship." said GM Tennell Williams.

With a new coach, the 1st overall pick, and a lot of money to spend on free agents this summer, the Lakers look to be back on trck to being one of the premier teams in the NBA.

                            1. Lakers

                            Kentucky C Karl-Anthony Towns

The Lakers go with the big man out of Kentucky. Towns will join fellow Wildcat Julius Randle on the frontline. Looks like Towns offensive/defensive potential put him over Jahlil Okafor.

                              2. 76ers

                              Ohio State PG D'Angelo Russell

The 76ers get their point guard of the future after trading away Michael Carter-Williams. A core of Russell, Noel, and Embiid will be scary in a few years.

                                3. Jazz

                                Duke C Jahlil Okafor

Even though they already have Rudy Gobert, the Jazz got BPA with the 3rd pick. Could a Gobert/Okafor front court work? And where would that leave Derrick Favors?
