Chasing his dreams | Peter Jones (CH2k8)
This is a sim legacy. That means that I will sim most of the games. I am allowed to played 5 games a year, 2 out of conference, 2 in conference, and a wild card. I can play as much postseason as I would like, this is so I can get through seasons faster.

Breaking News!
Morehead,KY-Breaking news out of Kentucky this morning. This story has to do with basketball, and no, this time it isn't about the Wildcats. This time we are talking about our very own Morehead State Eagles. After struggling in recent years, the athletic department thought it was time for a change. Athletic Director Ken Johnson announced this morning that Peter Jones, former assistant coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels. We got to meet with Jones 1 on 1. Jones was asked about the opportunity to get a head coaching job and he replied with, "Oh its great. Morehead is a great town, and were gonna have great success. Before long, we will be bringing in 4 star recruits, and we are going to be dancing yearly." You heard it here first. Jones is expected to release the schedule and depth chart very soon, so stay tuned for more!

Re: Chasing his dreams | Peter Jones (CH2k8)
Season 1 Recap
Team Recap
Peter Jones coaching career did not quite get off to the start the he had hoped it would. The Eagles only managed to pick up 5 wins in his first year at Morehead State. They were in most of the games that they lost, in fact 15 of the 23 loses were by 10 points or less. As coach will find out though, is that close will not cut it at this level. Close does not win games. Close does not win championships. If he wants to excel, he needs to learn to close these games out so he can pick up some wins. The Eagles were led by Senior guard Pearson Galloway. Galloway had a solid stat line of 8.4 ppg, 1.9 apg, and 1.5 board per game. Galloway was asked about coach Jones at the end of the season. Galloway left us with surprising news, saying "I would play for him over any coach in the country, every day of the week and twice on Sunday. He is great. Your not going to come into this league right away and make an immediate impact. You have got to give it time. Coach knows that and has everyone happy to be coming back." Coach was asked about the rough season saying, "I saw it coming. We're a young team. Watch out when we get older though. We're gonna be dang good. This year put things into prospective though. When I was at UNC I never lost, this year I hardly ever won. I'm excited to be back next year though. We have a solid recruiting class coming in, and we have good guys returning." Check for the recruiting class listed below.

NCAA year 1 in review
The NCAA Championship was won by the Kansas Jayhawks and Bill Self. Kansas rolled through the tournament, and beat Louisville by a score of 89-63 in the championship game. The Final four teams were Kansas, Louisville, Washington, and Georgetown. The Ohio Valley conference was won by #25 rated Austin Paey. They also rolled through the regular season going 18-2 in the conference. Player of the year was won by North Carolina forward Hal Forney (Tyler Hansburough). Congrats to Tyler on the award. Coach of the year was won by Kansas' Bill Self as expected. Tennessee Tech's Russ Clancy won the Ohio Valley conference player of the year award. Russ is a senior so the Ohio Valley does not need to worry about him anymore. Ohio Valley Freshman Player of the year was won by Morehead State's Hugh Boone. Boone's future looks bright if Peter Jones can coach the kid up. We look forward to bringing you the Season 2 Preview in a few days, until then stay tuned, and congrats to the Kansas Jayhawks.Watch me game on Twitch!

Re: Chasing his dreams | Peter Jones (CH2k8)
One of my favorite chises of all-time was a Morehead thread way back in the day on the 2k forums. The idea of staying at Morehead and building them into a powerhouse and playing against Louisville and Kentucky was well as Western and Eastern Kentucky always felt like a storyline I could get behind. Hopefully you can convince some of the instate kids to come be a Eagle.Comment

However once I land a roster of recruits that really fit my offense then I start playing as many games as I can well keeping a decent pace for the season.Comment

Re: Chasing his dreams | Peter Jones (CH2k8)
That's why I don't do just a sim chise or a play every game chise. I like to pick and choose what games I play. I get bored playing in the Big Sky unless it's a rivalry matchup against Montana or something, and typically just stick to the non-conference part of the schedule. Then once I make the jump to a bigger school I tend to go with a play a few, sim a few.

Re: Chasing his dreams | Peter Jones (CH2k8)
First off, it should be fun to see what you can do to rebuild this team. Secondly, I suggest you do whatever keeps your interest in the game. Some guys enjoy drawing a season out because they feel in better control of the team, while others just like to see what goes on season after season in a quicker fashion. Do what works for you and we are all here to enjoy your ride!!
Good luck with the second seasonComment

Re: Chasing his dreams | Peter Jones (CH2k8)
Meet the Eagles
Starters
Sophomore PG John-Micheal Griffin-John-Micheal Griffin is the teams shooter. With a 86 3 point rating, and a 82 mid-range game, he is going to have to put the ball in the hoop for the Eagles to succeed.
Senior SG Shema Dressel-Shema is the 2nd highest rated player on this years team, at a whopping 64 overall. He is a Dwayne Wade type player, as he likes to attack the rim and he can't shoot.
Senior SF Lorenzo Castro-Lorenzon Castro is the team leader this year, and there is not a doubt about it. At 68 overall, Lorenzo is an energy guy. He has a 85 close shot, and is a great defensive player coming it at 86 overall on defense.
Senior Power Forward Tyquawn Pardon-Pardon is a very short post player. Standing only 6'7", and 209 pounds, he is going to have to use more moves, instead of just trying to push the guy over to succeed.
Sophomore Center Hugh Boone-After winning Freshman Player of the Year in the Ohio Valley, there is no question that Hugh will be a force to be reckoned with in the post. Look for a majority of his points to come down low.
Role Players
Junior Shooting Guard Amit Kouyate-Amit Kouyate is the team's sixth man. With the 2nd highest 3pt rating on the team at 76, Amit needs to hit shots for the Eagles to excel this year.
Sophomore Shooting Guard Will Gruber-Gruber is also another shooter coming off the bench, however his shot's will come from mid-range, and the charity stripe.
Junior Point Guard Josiah Capel-Capel is only in the rotation, well because he can handle the ball. Without another quality guard on the roster, he needs to handle the ball and not turn it over, nothing else is needed here.
Sophomore Power Forward Wil Siakam-Wil is a 6'6" power forward. If that doesn't call out trouble I don't know what will. The Eagles desperately need to recruit some hight for next year, as 6'6" will not cut it.
Coach Jones thoughts on the rotation
We are going to have to get good guard play to succeed. I am redshirting all 3 of the Freshman that I brought in as they are raw. We are hoping to get some height in the upcoming recruiting class. Look for Castro to get the majority of our shots, and John-Micheal to play the majority of the game at Point GuardWatch me game on Twitch!
