Powering to Victory | The Legacy of Jordan Powers (CH2K8)

Powering to Victory: The Coaching Career of Jordan Powers

The GOAT game + Elgato = should be fun. Instead of starting a coaching career at a low school, I'll be picking a lower end mid-major program, sim the 2015-16 season with real rosters and almost correct conferences due to work done from the Hex Editor.

The legacy will begin after the 2015-16 NCAA tournament.

St. Louis hires Oregon assistant Jordan Powers to head coach position

ST. LOUIS, MO --- After two consecutive 11-21 seasons, St. Louis fired head coach Jim Crews. Today they announced that Oregon assistant coach Jordan Powers as the Billikens new head coach.

After making three straight NCAA tournaments and winning 26+ games in those three seasons each, it has been a fall to the bottom of the A-10 conference with just 22 wins and 8 conference wins over the past two seasons. The Billikens won the A-10 in 12-13 and 13-14.

Jordan Powers, 31, will be one of the nation's youngest head coaches, and with no head coaching experience. Powers, a former point guard at the university of Toledo, averaged roughly 4 points per game in his four seasons as a Rocket basketball player.

Powers served as an assistant for 2 years at Toledo after graduating until 2008-2009. In 2009, he became an assistant at Cincinnati for three seasons, before joining the Oregon staff in 2012.

Powers is known for being an aggressive recruiter and a skilled shooting coach. Powers will need to bring an influx of talent to the Saint Louis roster, with a short offseason of recruiting for the 2016-2017 season. The Billikens don't have a true star and have been working on bringing in some solid 2-and-3 star recruits, but have no commits yet.

St. Louis went with a bit of a surprise, but Powers had interviewed with Central Florida, UTSA and was rumored to interview for the Arkansas State job as well.

Powers hauls in 3-star forward and center for St. Louis recruiting class

Jordan Powers just had a few weeks to finish up recruiting as the new head man of St. Louis basketball, and he put together a solid duo of recruits with a pair of three-star signings. Powers made a run at a four-star player who ended up choosing fellow conference rival St. Bonaventure. Everett Emerson, a four-star power forward is headed to the Bonnies.

Here's who St. Louis adds to its 2016-17 roster:

3-star PF Freddy Latimore ... 6'9"/220, Skokie, IL ... 24th ranked PF in the nation
Notes: Latimore seems to be a poor man's Kevin Love. Latimore has the ability to have a double-double each game, but is a solid 3pt shooter as well. Could be the 5 on the lineup if we choose to play small ball in our starting five. Regardless, he seems flexible from F/C. Seems like he should be a solid producer and starter this upcoming year.

            3-star C Damion Finley ... 7'0"/255, Memphis, TN ... 45th ranked C in the nation
Notes: Could easily be the best in the paint shooter and rebounder on the team, but he is pretty average elsewhere. If we go with a true center, good chance he will start, if not, he is a workable piece off the bench and should make a good impact as a true freshman.

            FANTASTIC FIFTEEN

                  2016-2017 Schedule

The Billikens have completed their 2016-2017 basketball schedule today, featuring a mix of interesting non-conference opponents.

Jordan Powers' first game will see in-state foe Missouri State visit Chaifetz Arena on November 10th. A week later, St. Louis travels for their first road game to SEC and in-state rival Missouri. "We wanted to play the in-state teams, those can be critical games for recruiting," said Powers about the early season schedule.

The Billikens will play Holy Cross, UALR, and Arizona, all who made the NCAA tournament. Winthrop was last season's Big South regular season champions and will visit on Dec. 7. The team will travel to Florida on Dec. 16, who made the NIT but is ranked highly in the preseason this year.

The A-10 conference schedule features home-and-home's with #25 Rhode Island, but just one game against each VCU and Dayton, both who made the tournament last year.
