Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

Our turnaround starts now! The 2022-23 NBA Season has finally arrived. It has been a long anxious wait to see what this team can do on the court. Brooklyn last made the playoffs in 2015, a full year before I took over. With some positive growth and hopefully luck that no major injuries occur, this is the year that streak will hopefully come to an end. Let’s take a look at our roster and see some of the players that will be making an impact for us this year.

    Roster:

    Roster Assessment:

We have a solid roster this year. The best one we have had since I took over. I can see the playoffs in our future but still a little soon for a championship. If this core can grow together this year, it will be fun to once again watch the Nets play. Watson and Ford are both in contract years so we will have to see if they will be willing to resign.

    Draft Picks we hold:

2023: 1st round, 1st round (via Miami), 1st round (via San Antonio)
2024: 1st round, 1st round (via San Antonio)
    2025: 1st round, 2nd round
    2026: 1st round, 2nd round

We traded away a few of our first-round picks over the summer to Indiana to move into the number 2 spot in the draft and get Gabriel Washington. We still have 7 first round picks over the next 4 years, with 3 more this next summer.

    Interesting notes:

PF Jabari Parker (83B+) went unsigned through free agency.
SF Tobias Harris (80B) also went unsigned through free agency.

    Prospect Profiles:

    Dale Fordham, PF:
Fordham is a 20-year-old, 6’9”. 266 pound, 70 overall, A- potential, power forward from Michigan State. In 36 games for Michigan State, he averaged 29.5 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game, and 1.4 blocks per game, leading the Spartans to the Final Four. He is scouted as a low post threat with a 3-star rating in post scoring, and 2 star ratings in mid-range shooting, layups, and dunks. He is a solid rebounder but needs to improve his mobility and athleticism to be great at the NBA level. He rates B+ in inside scoring, B- in mid-range shooting, and B in rebounding. We drafted him for his ability to score in the low post and to be a solid presence there for many years to come.

    Gabriel Washington, PG:
Washington is a 21-year-old, 6’0”, 200 pound, 81 overall, A- potential, point guard from Houston. He is an athletic playmaker that we could not pass on trying to get. He will immediately step in and be our starting point guard over Ford. He has 3 star ratings in 3-point shooting and playmaking ability. He has a 2-star rating in shooting off the dribble. He rates A in 3-point shooting, A- in playmaking, and B- at inside and mid-range shooting. Our scout indicates he is easily able to get open and is a good shooter, but needs to improve at his man defense skills. He averaged 25.9 points per game, 9.9 assists per game, and 1.7 steals per game in 36 games for Houston.

Stay tuned for our next update which will be the improved NBA.com Preseason Power Rankings.

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

Let’s see how the league is slated to fare this year.

      2022-23 NBA.com Preseason Power Rankings:

      1. Philadelphia: Their first round exit last season was a fluke. They will command the league this year.

      2. Cleveland: Lebron came out and said this is his last year. Can he lead the Cavs to another championship before he calls it a career?

      3. L.A. Lakers: They hold the longest playoff drought in the league, last appearing in 2013. This may be the year Russell, Ingram, and Whiteside learn to play together.

      4. Chicago: Jimmy Butler can’t lead this team by himself.

      5. Golden State: Still a perennial contender, even with an early playoff exit last year.

      6. Atlanta: Donte Barrett is a great point guard. He just has no one to pass it to who can score consistently.

      7. Utah: They are close to contending. Rumor is though, that Hayward wants out.

      8. Oklahoma City: Basketball is a team game. Westbrook can’t do it alone.

      9. Dallas: Mike Conley is getting older. He never was going to take the Mavs to a championship, even in his prime.

      10. New York: Isaac Marks and Porzingas are the future here. ‘Melo is declining fast.

      11. Indiana: The addition of Crowder won’t be enough to improve a bad bench.

      12. Minnesota: Solid core still intact. KAT will continue to lead this team to the playoffs yearly.

      13. Boston: Their growing pains should be coming to an end. They will be moving up the East soon.

      14. Memphis: An all-around good core should put them back in contention in the West.

      15. Washington: Wall will lead this team to another postseason.

      16. Phoenix: Losing Booker will hurt them a lot. DeRozan is aging and won’t help this team much.

      17. Sacramento: When you top 4 players are centers, you won’t go far. In desperate need of a point guard.

      18. Denver: The addition of Rodney Hood should help this team gain some ground in the West.

      19. Detroit: Ricky Rubio should help Drummond lead this team to the playoffs.

      20. Portland: The defending champs added Nurkic to their front court. Even so, a repeat in not likely in Portland.

      21. L.A. Clippers: Outside of their big 3, they need depth badly to catch up to Golden State.

      22. Miami: Full on rebuild mode here. Should finish no higher than 28th at season’s end.

      23. Charlotte: Solid team moving up the ranks of the East.

      24. Houston: Can reigning MVP James Harden repeat and lead his team to a championship?

      25. Orlando: They have a good core going in Orlando that showed last year they can be a contender.

      26. New Orleans: AD still needs help. Pelican’s management needs to get him some back court help if they ever want to contend.

      27. San Antonio: Kawhi wasn’t traded last year. Will he be this year from a team that has no one around him to help at all?

      28. Milwaukee: The post Jabari era starts this year. They could not contend with him in the lineup, will moving on from him change their luck?

      29. Brooklyn: With Carlisle, the top 2 draft picks now in tow, the playoff drought should end for the Nets.

      30. Toronto: They have Devin Booker for 1 year. Can the Raptors upper echelon of management convince him to stay and build around him?

Stay tuned for our midseason update.

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

The 2023 season if flying by. We are at the All-Star Break. The Nets own a record of 33-23, sitting 2nd in the Atlantic, 5th in the East, and 9th in the current NBA.com Power Rankings. This puts us 10 games above .500 and well on our way to our best season yet.

        Record Breakdown:

        Overall: 33-23
        October/November: 8-9
        December: 9-6
        January: 11-5
        February (thru All-Star Break): 5-3

Our longest winning streak of the year has been 8 games, from January 15 to January 28. Our longest losing streak was 5 games, between November 23 and December 1. We started the year off slow but really started to improve as a team in mid-December. Let’s look how the league is faring to this point.

        NBA.com Power Rankings:

        1. Philadelphia
        2. Orlando
        3. Charlotte
        4. Houston
        5. Portland
        6. Denver
        7. Atlanta
        8. Golden State
        9. Brooklyn
        10. L.A. Lakers
        11. Memphis
        12. Phoenix
        13. Cleveland
        14. Oklahoma City
        15. Boston
        16. Minnesota
        17. Chicago
        18. Milwaukee
        19. Detroit
        20. Sacramento
        21. Washington
        22. Utah
        23. Indiana
        24. New Orleans
        25. L.A. Clippers
        26. Toronto
        27. Dallas
        28. Miami
        29. San Antonio
        30. New York

        Player Stats:

Points per game: Carlisle 20.1, Washington 15.5, Ward 14.1, Fordham 13.0, Porter 11.8
Rebounds per game: Noel 9.8, Huestis 8.4, Fordham 7.3, Simpson 5.6
Assists per game: Washington 7.2, Ford 5.8
Blocks per game: Noel 2.2, Ward 1.4, Carlisle 1.3, Simpson 1.2, Fordham 1.2, Huestis 1.0
Steals per game: Washington 2.0, Carlisle 1.8
        Minutes: Washington 1833, Carlisle 1816, Ward 1489, Watson 1485, Huestis 1323

Nerlens Noel has missed about 20 games so far due to injury but Huestis started and played well for him.

        Trade Deadline:

We made no moves at the trade deadline. The Utah Jazz traded Gordon Hayward to the Lakers for Larry Nance Jr and a draft pick.

        Other notes:

We had no All-Stars this season. Gabriel Washington and Dale Fordham represented us in the Stars vs. Elites game playing for the Stars.

Gabriel Washington is 3rd in the Rookie of the Year Award race.

        Contract Extensions:

Johnnie Watson remained undecided about his contract status so we will have to address that over the summer.

Bradford Ford: We signed him to a 3 year/$15.83M deal to be a solid back up off the bench behind Washington.

We look bound for our first playoff appearance in 8 years. We need a strong finish to the season.

Stay tuned for the end of the 2022-23 NBA Season.

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

The end of the 2022-23 NBA season has arrived. We finished with a record of 49-33. That record puts us 2nd in the Atlantic, 3rd in the East, and 10th in the NBA.com Power Rankings. That means for the first time since 2015 and the first time since taking over, we made the playoffs. And we have homecourt advantage in the first round to boot. Before we get into the playoffs, let’s recap the season.

          Record Breakdown:

          Overall: 49-33
          Division: 11-5
          Conference: 32-20
          Home: 27-14
          Away: 22-19
February (post All-Star Break)/March: 9-7. We clinched our play off birth March 31. We were sitting in 6th in the East until April came around.
April: 6-1. Our team came together strong in the end, winning our last 5 games, tying our longest win streak of the year.

With us making the playoffs, I am going to cover the playoffs in future updates by doing 1 round per post.

We sit in the 3rd spot and face the dangerous Cavaliers in the first round. A Cavs team that has Lebron James in his last year in the NBA. We have a tough test ahead against the surefire Hall of Famer. Good news for us, is that Kyrie Irving is out 6 weeks with an injury.

          Stay tuned for playoff coverage!

We are playoff bound! It is the 2022-23 NBA Playoffs and we face off against the 6th seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in round 1.

            Series Analysis:

We hold the edge in record and in most statistical categories. We are predicted to win this series. The Cavs are down Kyrie Irving who will miss the entire series due to injury. We go into the playoffs with no injuries on our roster.

Cleveland wins the series 4 to 2.

This was a tough loss for us and a tough one to swallow. It was a hard-fought series, but we could not pull out the win against the Cavs. Lebron was just too much for us. Our team played well and got some playoff experience, which will benefit us next year. Washington averaged 21.3 points per game and 8.5 assists in the series. Carlisle averaged 21.2 points per game. Fordham also played well, averaging 16.8 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. Unfortunately, these performances were not enough to beat Lebron, who was on a mission in his curtain call season.

In the rest of the playoffs, Philadelphia lost in the first round again to 8th seeded Boston, 4 to 1. Golden State also fell to 8th seeded Minnesota, 4-2, in the first round.

In the NBA Finals, the L.A. Lakers beat the Orlando Magic, 4 to 3. Brandon Ingram was Finals MVP. The Lakers broke their 10-year playoff drought with a championship.

            Stay tuned for offseason coverage.

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

As we go into the 2023 NBA offseason, we have a lot to be proud of. We had our best record since taking over and we made the playoffs. We lost in round 1, but our team will only get better and we have a lot to look forward to next season. The last season was a positive one for us.

              League Retirements:

This was a big year for league retirements. There were quite a few good players to retire, including some former Brooklyn Nets, which I will list.

              1. Lebron James
              2. Chris Bosh
              3. Dwight Howard
              4. Lamarcus Aldridge
              5. Paul Millsap
              6. J.J. Redick
              7. Brandan Wright
              8. Al Horford
              9. Brook Lopez

              Jersey Retirements:

Lebron James had his number retired by both the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dwight Howard’s number was retired by the Orlando Magic.

              Hall of Fame:

Lebron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwight Howard were all inducted into the Hall of Fame.

No rules changes or league realignments occurred as usual.

              Staff Changes:

We decided to make some coaching changes this offseason. Our team is starting to become contenders and a change of philosophy in our coaching staff is needed. Jeff Hornacek and Dwyane Wade decided to move on from the Nets and pursue other opportunities elsewhere. As our new Head Coach, we hired freshly retired Hall of Famer Lebron James to be the 3rd coach we have had since my takeover. We hired him to a 4-year coach contract paying him $3.30M per season. He appointed and we hired Assistant Coach Luke Samuel. He agreed to a 4 year contract paying him $691K per season.

              Lottery odds:

Our original pick is slotted for the 24th spot in the first round. We own the rights to Miami’s 1st round pick and to San Antonio’s 1st round pick. Miami’s pick is slotted at number 1 and they have the best odds at 25.0% for the first pick. San Antonio is slotted at the 8th pick with 3.5% odds for the first pick. There were no surprises with the picks. Both picks went as predicted and we once again own the number 1 pick because of a trade made years earlier.

              Draft Order:

              1. Brooklyn (via Miami)
              2. Indiana
              3. Washington
              4. New York
              5. Toronto
              6. Dallas
              7. L.A. Clippers
              8. Brooklyn (via San Antonio)
              9. New Orleans
              10. Milwaukee
              11. Oklahoma City
              12. Utah
              13. Sacramento
              14. Detroit
              15. Minnesota
              16. Boston
              17. Chicago
              18. Cleveland
              19. Memphis
              20. Phoenix
              21. Denver
              22. Charlotte
              23. L.A. Lakers (via Atlanta)
              24. Brooklyn
              25. Portland
              26. Indiana (via Houston)
              27. Golden State
              28. Indiana (via Orlando)
              29. Philadelphia
              30. L.A. Lakers

              2023 NBA Draft:

There were no players that stuck out to us who we felt worthy of using a number 1 pick on, so we made a trade. We traded our 1st overall pick and a 2024 2nd round (via Chicago) to Toronto for the 5th pick and a 2026 1st round pick. Not a huge trade, but it accomplished what we wanted.

With our 5th pick, we drafted shooting guard Lee Wagner out of Florida.

When we were on the clock at the 8th spot, we faced a similar predicament. We didn’t like anyone available to us, so we made another trade. We traded out 8th pick to Minnesota for a 2024 1st round pick and a 2025 1st round pick. With Minnesota being a good team, these picks may not land us much, but we feel it was the best offer out there for a pick we didn’t want to use anyway.

There were no other trades in the top 10 this year.

On the clock at the 24th pick, we selected small forward Stevie Adrien out of Alabama.

Here is a summary of the top 10 picks:

              Draft Assessment:

This draft class overall was a decent class. We were not huge fans of any particular player. This draft for us, was about getting role players who could be useful in coming off the bench for us. We have our starting 5 set and do not plan to make any major changes to that lineup. We like Wagner as a shooter and feel he can provide a spark of the bench after being given a few years to grow. The same can be said for Stevie Aiden. Our immediate focus will be to improve training in our starting 5 before we really start to develop our bench.

Stay tuned for the remainder of the offseason.

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

Welcome to the conclusion of our 2023 NBA offseason as we head into the 2023-24 NBA Season. We have a lot to look forward to this next year. We have a solid young core in place that is growing and is showing great promise.

                Rookie Signings:

Lee Wagner: He was signed to his 2 year/$6.90M rookie deal.
Stevie Adrien: He was signed to his 2 year/$2.36M rookie deal.

                Team Options:

                Wally Carlisle: We accepted.
Rick Huestis: We accepted his 2-year team option.
                James Michael Simpson: We accepted.

                Qualifying Offers:

Johnnie Watson: We offered a 1 year/$8.93M deal.

                My Free Agents:

Johnnie Watson: Overriding the qualifying offer, we offered and he accepted a 4 year/$94.44M deal.
Norm Ward: He wanted to test free agency. We made him an offer but he accepted a 4 year/$28.34M deal with Dallas instead.
Otto Porter: He wanted to test free agency and decided to move on from the Nets.
Iman Shumpert: He wanted to test free agency. We made him an offer, but he accepted an offer from the L.A. Clippers instead.
Thomas Robinson: He played well for us defensively for a long time, but he will soon be losing playing time to Simpson and since Robinson is starting to get older, he will be on the decline in ability. We thanked him for his time with the team and wished him the best. He signed a 1 year minimum deal with Phoenix.
Elliot Becker: He wanted to test free agency. We offered him a contract but he instead accepted a deal from Oklahoma City.

                Free Agency:

SG E’Twaun Moore (76B-): He accepted a 1 year/$1.96M deal. He will provide some shooting off the bench while we wait for Wagner to develop.
C John Henson (75B-): He accepted a 1 year/$1.96M deal. He will solely be bench depth and will not expect much playing time unless injuries occur.
PF Montrezl Harrell (76B-): He accepted a 1 year/$1.77M deal. He will provide some bench depth and defense off the bench.
SF Harrison Barnes (76B+): He accepted a 1 year/$1.96M deal. He will be expected to play backup to Carlisle and replace some of the productivity we lost from Ward and Porter.

                Signings around the league:

There were quite a few players moving around and some good size contracts being tossed at players. This list is only players changing teams

PG Wade Baldwin to Houston for 4 years/$45.88M
PF Draymond Green to Dallas for 3 years/$30.40M
C Ronnie Mason to Chicago for 3 years/$44.64M
PF Jabari Parker to Toronto for 3 year/87.01. He played this last year in Charlotte at a steal of $6.97M on a 1 year deal.
C Jonas Valenciunas to Miami for 4 years/$59.76M
C Cody Zeller to Toronto for 3 years/$28.92M
C Jakob Poeltl to Detroit for 3 years/$53.48M
SG Devin Booker to New York for 3 years/$53.48M
PG Alberto Gomez to New York for 3 years/23.76M

Looking at the above, there is 1 thing clear, the Atlantic got stronger with Toronto and New York both making some free agency moves.

                Player Progression:

                Wally Carlisle: +3
                Gabriel Washington: +3
                Johnnie Watson: +3
                Dale Fordham: +2
                Nerlens Noel: -2
                Rick Huestis: +3
                Bradford Ford: +1
                E’Twaun Moore: -1
                James Michael Simpson: +3
                John Henson: -1
                Harrison Barnes: -3
                Matthew Dellavedova: -1

                Training Camp (untapped potential):

                Lee Wagner: C+ to B-
                Rick Huestis: B+ to A-
                Gabriel Washington: A- to A

                Season Outlook:

This is a team that is coming off of a tough first round loss to Cleveland when we were favored to win. With some playoff experience under their belts, our team is ready to go back to the playoffs and make a push this year. I think we are still a year or two away from a championship. We have all 5 starters returning for us and some key players off the bench as well. Some new faces we have are going to look to make contributions but our starting core is what is going to carry us back to the playoffs.

Record Prediction: 50-32, 2nd in the Atlantic, 3rd in the East, and we make it to the Conference Finals. We are still a year away from getting past the 76ers.

Stay tuned for our preseason preview!

                Thanks for reading!

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

The 2023-24 NBA Season is here and the Nets now have expectations. Under a new head coach in Lebron James and a much-improved lineup that is maturing quite nicely, scouts and analysts around the league are starting to classify the Nets as contenders. This is the start of our 8th season at helm and our long labors of rebuilding this team are starting to pay off.

Let’s take a look at our roster:

                  Roster Assessment:

We have a solid roster this year. All 5 of our starters are returning again, including key players off the bench like Bradford Ford, Rick Huestis, and James Michael Simpson. Simpson should see more playing time this year that previously in his career. We lost some nice bench players last year, but we hope that Moore can step up and help the second unit out.

                  Draft picks we currently hold:

2024: 1st round, 1st round (via San Antonio), 1st round (via Minnesota)
                  2025: 1st round, 1st round (via Minnesota), 2nd round
                  2026: 1st round, 1st round (via Toronto), 2nd round
                  2027: 1st round, 2nd round

We still hold 8 first round draft picks over the next 4 years and 11 total. We have confidence the last of 3 years of picks we have from San Antonio will land us another lottery pick. As we are coming out of a rebuild, we will have to see what future drafts hold. We are still not looking to move draft picks for players at this point.

                  Prospect Profiles:

                  SG Lee Wagner:

Wagner is a 20-year-old, 6’5”, 200 pound, 71 overall, B- potential shooting guard out of Florida. In college, he averaged 18.8 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 3.8 assists per game over the course of 31 games. He is scouted as a sharpshooter with 3 stars in mid-range shooting, and 2 starts in rebounding and agility. He rates A- in mid-range shooting, C+ in 3-point shooting, and B in rebounding. Our scout reports he is a skilled shooter and rebounder, but can’t get open well on his own. He also needs to improve his defensive awareness at the NBA level. We liked him for his shooting ability and we feel in a few years, he can provide a solid spark of the bench for us behind Watson.

                  SF Stevie Adrien:

Adrien is a 20-year-old, 6’8”, 228 pound, 69 overall, C potential small forward out of Alabama. He averaged 17 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 2.5 assists per game over 32 games while at Alabama. He scouts as a shooter who is a good mid-range shooter and solid defender, but needs to improve his mobility and speed. He is rated 3 stars in strength, 2 stars in shooting off the dribble, and 1 star in mid-range shooting. He will provide depth for us for the first 2 years of his rookie deal and then he will be assessed then to see if he will have a role on this team. We don’t foresee him being much more than depth for a while.

                  2023-24 NBA.com Preseason Power Rankings:

                  1. Philadelphia: Not making it out of round 1 the last year won’t hamper this team from pushing for the Finals again.
                  2. L.A. Lakers: The reigning NBA champs are pushing toward taking over that top spot in the West that Golden State has owned.
                  3. Miami: Some young talent that can score, but will have trouble stopping opposing offenses. Playoffs are within reach.
                  4. Chicago: Jimmy Butler still needs talent around him. He is getting older. Time to rebuild.
                  5. Atlanta: Solid at point guard once again with 6th Man Kemba Walker. Needs front court help though.
                  6. Cleveland: First year in the 'Land post Lebron era. Irving and Love can still get the Cavs to the playoffs.
                  7. New York: Devin Booker was a solid signing, but will he start over Isaac Marks? ‘Melo has finally moved on as well.
                  8. Minnesota: Still a good team with high expectations but only mediocre results.
                  9. Dallas: Getting closer with some decent drafts.
                  10. Memphis: Only has Houston to compete with in the Southwest
                  11. Boston: Consistent under performers should be no different this year.
                  12. Golden State: Draymond has moved on and their core is getting older. Still the team to beat in the West even with recent playoff failures.
                  13. Denver: Playoff bound but not much more.
                  14. L.A. Clippers: CP3 is getting older and has lost a step. The end of lob city is near.
                  15. Orlando: A solid young core that has a chance to blow past Philadelphia as the team in the East this year.
                  16. Charlotte: Lothar Hasselhoff has proven himself a solid scorer. Now he only needs someone to get him the ball consistently.
                  17. New Orleans: Anthony Davis and Bradford Stafford are a solid front court, but that is the Pelicans have going for them.
                  18. Detroit: Andre Drummond will get this team to the playoffs but that’s about it.
                  19. Houston: The beard is coming off the MVP Award. Can he repeat this performance and lead the Rockets to the promised land?
                  20. Toronto: Some solid offseason signings will quicken the rebuild in Toronto.
                  21. Sacramento: Shooting is the problem here. This team needs to retool and get some solid back court play.
                  22. Utah: They moved Hayward. Now it’s time to move on from him.
                  23. Washington: Wall, Beal, and Favors need to avoid injuries if they want to take back the Southeast.
                  24. Portland: Lillard is still great. McCollum has lost a step. This means some re-tooling may be in order is Portland.
                  25. Brooklyn: Destined for greener pastures. Coming out of a massive rebuild and those efforts should start paying off.
                  26. Indiana: Second overall pick Dean Keefe should play well with Paul George and Myles Turner. They have a shot of taking over the Central if everything goes right for them.
                  27. Phoenix: Kelvin Long is still a top 5 player in the league. This alone should get Phoenix into the playoffs.
                  28. Milwaukee: Giannis is a great player. This team needs to learn to play together. There is an opportunity in the Central with Lebron retiring.
                  29. San Antonio: Kawhi is still around. No one else with him still. He is in a contract year. Is this the year full on rebuild mode starts?
                  30. Oklahoma City: Westbrook can’t carry this team forever by himself.

We are sitting at 25th in the preseason power rankings. This is of no concern to us. We had a solid year last year and we look to continue to move up in the league.

Stay tuned for our midseason update.

LeBron as coach, whoa. Why the change? That starting lineup is really, really good and I can't believe the Nets are #25. I see them as a top 5 team this year.

They should be a top 5 team.
The coach change wasn't my choice. Hornacek was up for renewal and he disappeared from the list. He wasn't listed under any job option or on any other team so I just made it that he decided to move on on his own. I wanted him to be the coach that led us all the way eventually. I was pretty bummed about the game doing that to me...

The 2023-24 NBA Season All Star Break is upon us. The Nets are 1st in the Atlantic, 2nd in the East, and 2nd in the NBA.com Power Rankings. We have a record of 37-19, which is our best record of my tenure, at the All-Star Break. Our longest winning streak of the year was 9 games, from November 26 to December 13. We also had winning streaks of 5 games and 7 games. Our longest losing streak was 4 games, when we started the year off 0-4. We also have the appearances of a Big 3 starting to emerge in Gabriel Washington, Wally Carlisle, and Dale Fordham.

                        Away: 14-11

We were represented by Wally Carlisle in the All-Star Game. This is his second appearance there. Gabriel Washington and Dale Fordham represented the Stars in the Stars vs. Elites game. Dale Fordham represented us in the dunk contest and Gabriel Washington in the 3 point contest. Neither player won but we are proud of them nonetheless.

                        Player Stats:

Points per game: Carlisle 24.9, Washington 21.2, Fordham 15.4
Rebounds per game: Noel 9.0, Huestis 9.0, Fordham 6.6
Assists per game: Washington 8.1, Ford 6.6
Steals per game: Washington 2.1, Carlisle 1.8
Blocks per game: Noel 1.8, Fordham 1.4, Huestis 1.2, Carlisle 1.1
                        Minutes: Carlisle 2127, Washington 2098, Fordham 1641, Huestis 1416, Ford 1178

Carlisle is 6th in the league in points per game. Noel is 14th in the league in blocks per game. Washington is 18th in the league in points per game and 9th in assists per game.

                        Team Signings:

Wally Carlisle: He signed a 3 year/$69.81M extension.
James Michael Simpson: He signed a 3 year/$26.11M extension.

Nerlens Noel is in his contract year but will not re-negotiate until the offseason. We have Rick Huestis who is under contract through the end of next year and has been splitting time and starts with Noel the last 2 seasons with Noel starting to be injured more. We will look into how we are going to handle this situation this summer.

We made no trade deadline moved. We had no interest in moving bench players for potential picks or trading picks for players to help us with now. It goes back to our philosophy that we will not be trading our future for win now. We are in a solid position with our team and we are continuing to grow so we see no reason to change things up.

Stay tuned for the end of season recap.

                        Thanks for reading!

The 2023-24 NBA Season has come to an end and we are playoff bound for the second year in a row with our best record to date, ending with a mark of 53-29. We finish the year 2nd in the Atlantic, 3rd in the Conference, and 3rd in the NBA.com Power Rankings. Our year progressed quite well with us going on a 7-game win streak from March 16-27 but we ended the on a .500 note with a mediocre April, which probably cost us the Atlantic Division title.

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

It’s Playoff time. It is the 2024 NBA Playoffs with our Brooklyn Nets holding the 3rd seed in the East. Our first round match up will be against the 6th seed Detroit Pistons.

                            Series Preview:

The Pistons come in to the playoffs finishing the regular season with a record of 53-37. Brooklyn won 3 of 4 games these teams played this season. Neither team has injuries on the roster heading into the playoffs. The spread consensus pick is that the Nets are favorites.

That being said, let’s get into the games:

In the 2023-24 Eastern Conference Semi Finals, we take on the 2nd seeded Philadelphia 76ers. We ended up in a tie for 1st place in the Atlantic with matching records of 53-29 but they won the tie breaker. We went 0-4 against them this season. However, the spread consensus pick is that we can still win. It will be a tough series and I predicted we wouldn’t be meeting them till the Conference Finals. We will have to prove our mettle to come out on top.

We made it to the 2023-24 Eastern Conference Finals. This is where we predicted we would make it. Let’s see if we can change my prediction and make it to the Finals. Orlando comes into the series with a regular season record of 47-35. We won the season series 2-1 and are the spread consensus pick to win. They come in with no injuries. Our only injury is Bradford Ford, who got injured in game 5 against Philadelphia and will be out the remainder of the playoffs.

                                Brooklyn win the series 4-2.

It was a hard-fought series but big performances from Carlisle and Washington have led us to our first Finals appearance since my takeover of the team and the 3rd in the team’s history. The first 2 were from the early 2000’s and the team being in New Jersey.

We will face the winner of the L.A. Lakers/Memphis series in the NBA Finals. The Lakers win this series 4-2. The Lakers are heading to the Finals for the second year in a row looking to repeat as champions. We are looking to win our first championship.

Stay tuned for NBA Finals coverage.

                                Thanks for reading!
