Our turnaround starts now! The 2022-23 NBA Season has finally arrived. It has been a long anxious wait to see what this team can do on the court. Brooklyn last made the playoffs in 2015, a full year before I took over. With some positive growth and hopefully luck that no major injuries occur, this is the year that streak will hopefully come to an end. Let’s take a look at our roster and see some of the players that will be making an impact for us this year.

Roster Assessment:
We have a solid roster this year. The best one we have had since I took over. I can see the playoffs in our future but still a little soon for a championship. If this core can grow together this year, it will be fun to once again watch the Nets play. Watson and Ford are both in contract years so we will have to see if they will be willing to resign.
Draft Picks we hold:
2023: 1st round, 1st round (via Miami), 1st round (via San Antonio)
2024: 1st round, 1st round (via San Antonio)
2025: 1st round, 2nd round
2026: 1st round, 2nd round
We traded away a few of our first-round picks over the summer to Indiana to move into the number 2 spot in the draft and get Gabriel Washington. We still have 7 first round picks over the next 4 years, with 3 more this next summer.
Interesting notes:
PF Jabari Parker (83B+) went unsigned through free agency.
SF Tobias Harris (80B) also went unsigned through free agency.
Prospect Profiles:
Dale Fordham, PF:
Fordham is a 20-year-old, 6’9”. 266 pound, 70 overall, A- potential, power forward from Michigan State. In 36 games for Michigan State, he averaged 29.5 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game, and 1.4 blocks per game, leading the Spartans to the Final Four. He is scouted as a low post threat with a 3-star rating in post scoring, and 2 star ratings in mid-range shooting, layups, and dunks. He is a solid rebounder but needs to improve his mobility and athleticism to be great at the NBA level. He rates B+ in inside scoring, B- in mid-range shooting, and B in rebounding. We drafted him for his ability to score in the low post and to be a solid presence there for many years to come.
Gabriel Washington, PG:
Washington is a 21-year-old, 6’0”, 200 pound, 81 overall, A- potential, point guard from Houston. He is an athletic playmaker that we could not pass on trying to get. He will immediately step in and be our starting point guard over Ford. He has 3 star ratings in 3-point shooting and playmaking ability. He has a 2-star rating in shooting off the dribble. He rates A in 3-point shooting, A- in playmaking, and B- at inside and mid-range shooting. Our scout indicates he is easily able to get open and is a good shooter, but needs to improve at his man defense skills. He averaged 25.9 points per game, 9.9 assists per game, and 1.7 steals per game in 36 games for Houston.
Stay tuned for our next update which will be the improved NBA.com Preseason Power Rankings.
