Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

The 2023-2024 NBA Finals are upon us. We have made our first Finals appearance since my takeover in 2016. We have had a long bumpy road over the years to get to this point. We endured multiple losing seasons, lack of draft picks, and bad contracts to make it to this point. This is time for the Brooklyn Nets to show the NBA world that we are here and we deserve to be here.

We face the L.A. Lakers, the 2nd seed from the West, who finished with a record of 54-28 on the year and who will carry homecourt advantage in the series. Our only injury is Bradford Ford. The Lakers have no injuries on their squad at the moment. We won both meetings, going 2-0, against the Lakers this year and we are the spread consensus pick to win.

It will all come down to 1 game. It will be game 7 of the NBA Finals. It’s win or go home. Game 7 will take place in Los Angeles on the Lakers home court.

It has been a back and forth series, all 6 games to this point have been won by the road team. No team has been able to take advantage of momentum and secure the series earlier. We had a chance to win in game 6, but lost a nail biter at home. Wally Carlisle was injured in game 1 of the series and has played hurt thru game 6. He will be back at 100% for game 7 thankfully. Watson has played well with Carlisle only getting limited time in the series.

Stay tuned for game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

It is June 17, 2024 and we are getting ready for game 7 of the NBA Finals. If you asked anyone 8 years ago if we would be here, they would all say ‘no.’ Not us though, we had faith in our plan to build through the draft and develop our players and it will hopefully pay off tonight.

      Game 7:

      Brooklyn wins the series 4-3.

Gabriel Washington was names the NBA Finals MVP averaging 20.6 points per game, 9.4 assists per game, and 2.1 steals per game.

We did it. We are the 2024 NBA Champions. We have done the seemingly impossible and brought a championship to Brooklyn

      Stay tuned for the offseason.

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

Now we head into the 2024 off season as NBA Champions.

            Retirements:

            Carmelo Anthony
            Chris Paul
            Kyle Lowry
            Jeremy Lin
            Trevor Booker
            Bojan Bogdanovic

            Hall of Fame:
Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul were inducted into the Hall of Fame as the 2024 Inductee Class.

            Jersey Retirements:
Chris Paul had his jersey retired by the L.A. Clippers. Kyle Lowry’s number was retired by the Toronto Raptors. Carmelo Anthony had his number retired by both the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets.

Doc Rivers also retired as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies.

There were no rule changes or league realignments.

            Draft Lottery:

We hold 3 picks in the first round this year. Our original pick is 30th overall, we have the 19th pick from Minnesota and a lottery pick at number 4 projected from San Antonio. This marks the third year in a row we own San Antonio’s 1st round pick. We hold a 9.0% chance for the number 1 spot. When the lottery comes, we end up at the 5th pick overall.

            Draft Order:

            1. Portland
            2. Dallas
            3. Boston
            4. New Orleans
            5. Brooklyn (via San Antonio)
            6. New Orleans (via Oklahoma City)
            7. Denver
            8. Chicago
            9. Atlanta (via Milwaukee)
            10. Charlotte
            11. Indiana
            12. Milwaukee (via Toronto)
            13. Sacramento
            14. Cleveland
            15. Denver (via Utah)
            16. New York
            17. Atlanta
            18. L.A. Clippers
            19. Brooklyn (via Minnesota)
            20. Detroit
            21. Washington
            22. Orlando
            23. Phoenix
            24. Indiana (via Memphis)
            25. Philadelphia
            26. Houston
            27. L.A. Lakers
            28. Sacramento (via Miami)
            29. Golden State
            30. Brooklyn

            Draft Night:

Overall, we feel this draft class in on the weaker end. There are a few players we like but aren’t completely sold on. We will probably be doing some wheeling and dealing to move down the draft and secure more picks for future years. No one in this class stands out to us.

            We trade our 5th pick, our 30th pick, a 2026 2nd, and a 2027 2nd to Chicago for the 8th pick and a 2027 1st round pick.

Boston trades Isaiah Thomas to New Orleans for the 6th pick.

Milwaukee trades Khris Middleton to Denver for the 7th pick

At the 8th spot, we draft PF Manuel Chavez out of Mexico.

Dallas trades Norm Ward and Tyler Johnson to Atlanta for the 9th pick and a 2026 2nd round pick.

Utah trades Larry Nance Jr. and a 2025 1st round pick to Charlotte for the 10th pick and a 2025 2nd round pick.

At the 19th spot, there was no one we had interest in so we trade the pick to San Antonio for a 2026 1st pick. It is another 1st round pick we take from San Antonio. This would make 4 of their 5 first round picks in a 5 year period that belong to us.

            Draft Assessment:

Overall this was an alright draft for us. We did not want to waste our picks on players we did not want so we made a few moves and helped to continue to improve our future. Chavez will be moved to center as his size and mobility are more prototypical of a center.

Stay tuned for the remainder of the 2024 off season.

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

Welcome to the conclusion of the 2024 NBA off season. An off season where we are the current NBA Champions! Let’s get right to the rest of the summer.

              Rookie Signings:

Manuel Chavez: We signed Chavez to his 2 year/$5.29M deal and changed him to center with secondary as power forward. There were no attribute changes.

              Team Options:

Gabriel Washington: We accepted his 2-year team option.
Dale Fordham: We accepted his 2-year team option.
Rick Huestis: We accepted his team option.

              My Free Agents:

Nerlens Noel: He wanted a 4 year/$74.00M deal. With Huestis coming on his option this next season and not knowing the contract he will want then with Washington and Fordham coming into contract years 2 seasons from now, we did not want to commit large amounts of money long term and risk the chance of not being able to pay Washington or Fordham. So, we decided to offer and he accepted a 2 year/$33.19M deal. It keeps Noel on our team as he is a key defensive contributor but it does not damper our financial future. Noel is an asset to us but we value Washington and Fordham higher.
Montrezl Harrell: He wanted to test free agency but he played well for us so we offered a 1 year/$1.84M deal and he accepted.
E’Twaun Moore: He wanted to test free agency and we decided to let him walk.
John Henson: He wanted to test free agency and we had other options at center.
Harrison Barnes: He played very well in the Finals for us covering some extra minutes when Carlisle was hurt, but he is declining fast so we decided to move on.
Matthew Dellavedova: He played well for us for a few years but it was time to move on as he is declining rapidly.

              Trade Alert:

We trade SF Stevie Adrien to Houston for a 2027 1st round pick (top 5 protected). This trade was for the pick and honestly, Adrien did not have a future here. He would require multiple seasons of training camp to grow into a quality backup and we do not want to waste the training on him.

              Free Agency:

PG Tony Wroten (75B-): He signed a 1 year/$2.02M deal. He will provide depth behind Washington and Ford.
SG Stacey Drew (75B-): He signed a 1 year/$1.60M deal. He will see some playing time behind Watson.
SF Sam Dekkar (74B-): He signed a 1 year/$1.84M deal. He is going to be backing up Carlisle this season.
SG Bruno Caboclo (74B-): He signed a 1 year/$2.02M deal. He will be depth at shooting guard for us.

              Interesting League Signings:

SG C.J. McCollum to Charlotte for 3 years/$17.58M
SF Denzel Valentine to Toronto for 4 years/$26.16
SF Dale Cross to Houston for 4 years/$44.84M
PG Diamond Lane to Cleveland for 4 year/40.67M
PF Shaun Bridgeman resigns with Atlanta for 5 years/$74.21M. He has progressed to an 80 overall and an elite paint protector but in his career his is still only averaging 3.5 points per game, 1.0 blocks per game, and 7.0 rebounds per game, even as a starter.
C Stephen Zimmerman to Portland for 4 years/$32.96M
PF Kevin Love to Dallas for 4 years/$89.76M. With Lebron retired from Cleveland and Irving declining rapidly due to injury, the Cavs appeared to not even offer Love a deal and let him walk.
SG Malik Beasley to Dallas for 3 years/$30.51M
SF Phil Norman to Portland for 3 years/$38.92M. Like Bridgeman, a former Nets player, is being paid big bucks for his ratings but hasn’t show much more than 4.0 points per game since we traded him years earlier.

              Player Progression:

              Gabriel Washington: +3
              Wally Carlisle: +2
              Dale Fordham: +3
              Nerlens Noel: +1
              Rick Huestis: +3
              James Michael Simpson: +1
              Bruno Caboclo: +1
              Tony Wroten: -1
              Lee Wagner: +2

Rookie class autogenerated with no changes made.

              Training Camp (untapped potential):

              Lee Wagner: B- to B
              Dale Fordham: A- to A
              Manual Chavez: B- to B

              Season Outlook:

Coming off of an NBA championship we have a great outlook for next season. We return all 5 of our starters this year. We return multiple key role players off the bench as well. Since we have won a championship, I have additional goals. First is to repeat as champions. Next is to win 60 games, and be 1st in division, conference, and power rankings. That being said, my outlook on this upcoming season is that we make it back to the Finals and repeat as champions.

Record Prediction: 55-27, 1st in Atlantic, 2nd in East, top 5 Power Rankings, and another trip to the Finals.

Stay tuned for the start of the next season.

              Thanks for reading!

The 2024-25 NBA Season is about to get underway. Expectations are now high in Brooklyn and the Nets come off of their first NBA championship in franchise history, downing the L.A. Lakers in a historic 7 game series.

                Let’s look at our roster:

                Roster Assessment:

We return all 5 starters plus 3 quality role players off of the bench. The one change in our lineup is that Huestis will start the season out at center over Noel. They will probably be splitting starts as the season goes along. Our starting lineup is stacked with all players rated 80 or more overall. Our offense is led by offensive superstars Gabriel Washington and Wally Carlisle, with Dale Fordham rounding out our iteration of the Big 3. Four of our 5 starters this year played in all 82 games last year and showed incredible durability. We can expect big things from this lineup this year, including my prediction of a possible MVP for Gabriel Washington and at least 1 All-NBA 1st team player.

                Draft Picks:

                2025: 1st round, 1st round (via Minnesota)
2026: 1st round, 1st round (via Toronto), 1st round (via San Antonio)
2027: 1st round, 1 round (via Chicago), 1st round (via Houston, top 5 protected)
                2028: 1st round, 2nd round

                Prospect Profiles:

                C Manuel Chavez:
He is a 20-year-old, 7’0”, 273 pound, 72 overall, B potential center out of Mexico. While playing, he averaged 24.8 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game, and 1.0 blocks per game in 31 games played. He was drafted as a power forward but we quickly moved him to center as his primary position. He is not expected to see much playing time at center or power forward this season. He is scouted as a low post threat but our scout reports he is a solid shot blocker and defender and could be something special in the league. That is if he can improve his basketball IQ and awareness as well as his speed and mobility. He rates 3 starts in post scoring, and 1 star in rebounds and mid-range shooting. Again, he is not expected to see playing time unless injuries wreak havoc on our front court this season.

                  Other Notes:

Wally Carlisle and Gabriel Washington both represented us in the All-Star Game. Dale Fordham participated in the dunk contest, while Lee Wagner represented us on the Elites team in the Stars vs. Elites game.

We resigned Rick Huestis to a 3 year/$67.97M deal just before the All-Star Break.

Nerlens Noel ranks 18th in blocks per game at the break.

Wally Carlisle is 3rd in point per game and 2nd in MVP voting.

Gabriel Washington is 3rd in MVP voting. He also ranks 7th in points per game, 3rd in steals per game, and 1st in assists per game.

Bradford Ford was injured in late November and will miss a total of 4 months of time. He should be back for the playoffs for us though.

Rick Huestis and Nerlens Noel both suffered minor injuries in the week leading to the All-Star break and will each miss a few weeks of time. We are in great position for the playoffs so we are not worried. It will give Chavez some minutes to show us his potential.

Around the league, the Indiana Pacers traded an aging Paul George to San Antonio.

Stay tuned for the end of season recap.

Yes they are all auto generated. I don't edit it or anything so I can't see their true attributes until I draft. It feels more fun to me not knowing their true potential and attributes.

Re: Changing the Brooklyn way: A Brooklyn Nets Dynasty

The 2024-25 Playoffs are here and the Nets head in as the top seed in the East.

Our 1st round match is against the 8th seeded Philadelphia 76ers. We own a record of 4-0 against the 76ers this year and we are the spread consensus pick to win this series. Philadelphia comes in with a regular season record of 42-40. Injuries for their team include Ben Simmons being out for 4-6 weeks and Jusuf Nurkic out the rest of the season. Our only injury is Dale Fordham with back spasms and whom is expected to miss only the first game or two of this series.

                          Brooklyn wins the series 4-1.

We were out matched in game 1, but our team came back strong with some solid wins for us.

We go on to face the winner of the Miami/Orlando series, which is Orlando, in the Conference Semi-Finals.

Stay tuned for more playoff coverage.

The 2024-25 Playoffs continue as the Nets push to repeat as NBA Champions. Our next test is in the Conference Semi-Finals against the 5th seeded Orlando Magic.

Both teams come into the series with no injuries. Brooklyn finished 2-2 against the Magic this year. This being 1 of only 2 teams the Nets lost more than 1 game against. The Nets are the spread consensus pick favorite in a Conference Finals rematch from last year. Orlando finished with a regular season record of 45-37 and look to take the momentum from their sweep of Miami into this round.

This was a strong showing for us. We came out and dominated the Magic and almost came out with the series sweep.

We go on to face the winner of the Charlotte/New York series, which is Charlotte in 6 games.

                              Brooklyn win the series 4-0.

Despite winning 70 games this year, this was our first playoff series sweep.

We now go on to the NBA Finals for a chance to repeat as champions. We will play either Memphis or Phoenix. Memphis is triumphant in 7 games.

Stay tuned for NBA Finals coverage.
