Syracuse, NY -- The Orange, having just fallen to the Hurricans last week, came into the game tonight ready for battle. Their starting 5 was back together with Sharpe coming off his elbow injury, and they played a strong game.

Sharpe came right out as if his elbow were never hurt, scoring two easy buckets to start the game.

West Virginia responded with a few big buckets of their own, coming from big man Esa Ahmad. He was a force in the paint, scoring 18 points, 15 in the first half.

The game would continue, back and forth, neither squad letting up. It was a tough defensive game, with both teams having to hit difficult shots to stay in it.

With the first half winding down, Sharpe jumped the passing lane and taking the ball the length of the court for an easy dunk. This got the crowd pumped up and the Orange took momentum into the half, leading 36-35.

The second half was a lot of the same, with each team fighting back and forth on both sides of the ball.

A cold shooting stretch for the Mountaineers helped Syracuse push to a seven point lead. Sharpe controlled the game at the guard spot, dishing out 8 assists and grabbing three steals.

West Virginia rallied after the cold spell, and got within 3. With about 40 seconds on the clock, Sharpe drove the lane and hit a very tough shot to extend the lead to five.

Syracuse would get a stop on defense, and that was the game. West Virginia falls to 7-7 and their hopes of the NCAA tournament are slipping. The Orange, improve to 11-3 and are hoping to snag the one seed.

      Syracuse Standout Performers
Andre Sharpe scored 17 pts, had 8 ast, 3 stl, and only 2 TO. Tyler Lydon added 13 pts and 6 reb.

      West Virginia Standout Performers
Ahmad lead all scorers with 18 pts, and also 3 stl. Macon assisted down low with 15 pts and 8 reb. Jevon Carter scored 12, had 6 reb and 4 ast, but only shot 4/15 from the field.

Re: Andre Sharpe | Legend In The Making

Alright, closing up the season today... should be to tournament time soon. Just to point out, because this is on 2k, there's only 16 teams in the tourney. So I'll be covering the tourney as if the first two rounds already happened.

I'm having a blast doing this dynasty, hope people are enjoying it. Once my career progresses I'll be getting more into Sharpe's perspective in addition to recaps of the games and whatnot.

Newark, NJ -- Ah, it feels like the good ol' days when the 'Cuse and Seton Hall were conference mates in the Big East. Back before the Big East was dismantled with the departure of some big time schools. This matchup had the potential to be a slug match, and boy was it.

Seton Hall, playing in front of hometown fans, came out strong. Great guard play from Carrington helped the Pirates push out to a 10-4 lead. Big man Nzei dominated the glass and helped maximize the amount of second chance opportunities Seton Hall got. This helped them get off to a great start.

Syracuse, being the strong team they are, would get right back in the game as the first half went along. SU went on a 8-0 run on the back of Sharpe and White. They both hit a three and White also drove the lane for a layup. This tied the game at 30.

The Pirates wouldn't go into the half without a fight. They came right back with a run of their own. A few bad turnovers by 'Cuse lead to easy buckets for Seton Hall. They closed the half on a 12-4 run, leading 42-34.

"We are really struggling to get open looks tonight. Andre isn't penetrating, Tyus is almost non-existent. We've gotta get better looks on offense and keep playing good D" said coach Boeheim at the half. Whatever adjustments he made, they would work.

Syracuse came out in the second half looking more confident and ready for a brawl. Sharpe snagged an early steal on the way to a fast break dunk to quiet the crowd.

After two more baskets, the lead was cut from 8 to 2. Seton Hall's starting five saw a lot of minutes tonight, with three guys playing 40 minutes. Those three guys, Carrington, Delgado and Nzei played amazing and helped guide Seton Hall into a tight finish.

The game went back and forth and at the 10 minute mark, Boeheim switched his guys into a press defense. This rattled Seton Hall a bit, forcing a turnover right away. 'Cuse took the lead for the first time in over 23 minutes with a huge dunk by Tyler Lydon off a nice feed from Sharpe.

With under three minutes left, Syracuse lead 65-64. Seton Hall continued to feed the ball inside, and on a questionable call, forward Tyler Roberson for 'Cuse would foul out. He was having a monster game, with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks.

This was the moment when Seton Hall was able to pull away a bit. They kept forcing it inside, and got bucket after bucket.

With under 40 seconds remaining, Syracuse trailed 70-67. The Orange took a little time off the clock before running a play to Andrew White, SU's best shooter. He caught the ball in the corner and nailed the game tying three.

Seton Hall got the ball back, and with just under 4 seconds left, they dished it to F Jaylen Rodriguez. He pulled up from mid range for the basket, and nailed the jumper! This game Seton Hall the 72-70 lead.

Boeheim called a timeout, and drew up a play. The 'Cuse only had 3.5 seconds, so it would have to be quick.

On the inbound, Seton Hall covered the play to perfection. The Orange were forced to just throw it in to White near mid court. He would force a very difficult three pointer from deep and it clanged off the rim for the loss.

"They're a tremendous defensive team. Any time I play an old Big East team I know it's gonna be tough, and tonight it was very tough" said coach Boeheim after the game.

Syracuse falls to 11-4, with only two games remaining. Next up is Florida at the Dome, and after that they close out the season with a big away game at the Tar Heels.

Syracuse, NY -- Coming off a tough loss to the Pirates, Syracuse needed a rebound game, and the struggling Gators were the perfect matchup.

Coming into tonight, Florida was 7-8, and just haven't been able to get things working. They're shooting 41% from the field, only 30% from three, and they've lost their last five games. Syracuse looked to take advantage of their mishaps, and tonight, they would.

Florida came out strong, leading by as many as 8 in the first half. Gritty play by the Orange would keep them in it, and a pure shooting night by White would help them put it away.

Sharpe's game was strong inside the paint tonight. He went to the line four times, and was able to hit two big and-ones in the first half, bringing the 'Cuse bask into the game.

The big 3 for the Orange: Lydon, White and Sharpe, all had solid games, each posting double figures. Their leadership has gotten Syracuse this far and Boeheim knows he needs all of them to be on to get wins.

Heading into the half, Syracuse trailed by two points, but despite that, they had tons of momentum.

In the second half, Syracuse flat out outplayed Florida. They hustled to loose balls, rebounded strong, and played great defense.

Andrew White scored 21 in the game, and 15 of that came on threes in the second half. He couldn't miss, and the Orange pulled away to a big win, 89-78

                Syracuse Standout Performers
White lead scorers with 21 pts. Lydon posted a double double with 18 pts and 10 reb. He also had 3 blocks. Sharpe added 16 points and 8 ast.

                Florida Standout Performers
Big man John Egbunu held down the paint with 20 pts, 12 reb, and 4 blk. Canyon Barry added 18 pts, and 4 reb. Kasey Hill scored 16 pts, grabbed 5 reb, and had 5 ast.

Chapel Hill, NC -- The Joel Berry and Andre Sharpe show. That's how this game will be remembered. A battle of two great guards trying to will their teams to victory.

One of them did tonight, and it was freshman Andre Sharpe. Scoring a career high 24 points, he was able to make the right plays at the right time to get the win tonight.

The last time the Orange and the Tar Heels faced off was last year during Syracuse's unexpected run to the Final Four. UNC came out on top in that game, and tonight, Syracuse looked for revenge.

This game started off on a exciting note, as Joel Berry threw a gorgeous alley oop to Kennedy Meeks to get the crowd pumped early on. Syracuse answered right back with a three pointer from Andrew White.

Each team would throw a few punches at the start. They stayed neck and neck as the first ten minutes alone featured ten lead changes. Basketball is typically a game of runs, but in the first half, the longest scoring stretch for either would be six points.

Tyler Lydon had a poor offensive game, only scoring 8 points. But his rebounding and defense would be the difference maker for the Orange. Lydon grabbed 12 boards, including 6 offensive. The Orange weren't shooting well to start, and Lydon's play on the glass helped keep them right in the game.

Meeks got his on the glass as well, grabbing a game high 15 rebounds. He was a force down low, and neither Lydon or Coleman could stop him in the first half. He scored 12 of his 18 in the first half of the game.

Closing in on the half, Syracuse by six, but on the last play, Berry nailed a deep three pointer to close the gap to three, 33-30.

In the second half, Sharpe and Berry really stepped their games up. Sharpe kicked off the second half with a steal and a fast break dunk, and Berry would answer right back with a mid range swish right in Sharpe's face.

This game had all the makings of a late night trip to the ER with heart palpitations.

Syracuse finally found their stroke, going 8/13 on their first thirteen shots from the field in the second half. This allowed them to open the game up a bit with an 8 point lead. This wouldn't last long. Big men Hicks and Meeks would continue their paint domination, and Berry just couldn't miss from deep.

UNC would work their way back into the game, and with 5 minutes remaining, they would tie the game on a big and-one by Berry.

Boeheim called a timeout and got his team focused. The score was 64-64, and if the Orange were going to pull it out they'd need to play better post defense.

Dajuan Coleman, 6'9'' 250, came into the game to add some relief down in the paint. His large presence was enough to rattle UNC's big men into back to back misses, and this game the 'Cuse a chance to get the lead back.

Sharpe found Roberson on a nice pick and roll for a dunk, and this helped quiet the crowd. Sharpe would again step up, and hit a big time three pointer right in Berry's face with the clock closing in on two minutes. This pushed the lead to four, with the score 68-72.

Berry wouldn't let his team die though. He came back down the court, and found forward Justin Jackson on a back door cut for an easy jam, cutting the lead to two.

On the Orange's next possession, they ran a play for Andrew White. He came around two screens, had the wide open three, but it clanged off the back of the rim.

Meeks got the board and found a cherry picking Berry running up the court. He caught it and laid it in to close the game to two.

Boeheim put the ball in Sharpe's hands. The young freshman was playing great tonight, and Jim hoped he'd come through again.

He ran a high double screen, and Sharpe drove to the basket. He hit a brick wall in Hicks, but was able to scoop the ball under the defender a lay it in for the 74-70 lead.

UNC came right back with a play for Berry. He sprinted around a screen under the basket, and Sharpe got laid out by the screen man. Berry caught it for a wide open three to make it a one point game, 73-74.

The clock read 35 seconds, just enough time for UNC to play straight up defense. Sharpe dribbled at the top of the key, running the shot clock down to within 10 seconds. He got a screen from Lydon and drove to the rim.

UNC double teamed him, and Lydon made a hard cut to the basket. He caught the pass and slammed it home for the 76-73 lead.

Berry dribbled it up quickly as the Tar Heels were out of timeouts. He brought it up to the three point line, and threw up the desperation shot with Sharpe's hand in his face.

It would hit off the front of the rim, Syracuse got the rebound, and they game was over.

Berry outdid Sharpe with 30 points, but Sharpe's strong decision making lead to the Orange victory.

This is the last game of the season as we head into Selection Sunday. Should be a great day and perhaps we'll see another UNC/Cuse matchup this March.
